  1. I agree with most here... it isn't time for him to say anything... I want him to do his talking on the field... winning games... Besides, it'll just be a lot of cliche and we'll rehash that he was cocky in college topic all over again.
  2. What we gave up... is correct, our 2nd and 5th round pick... If you were looking in terms of trading for Bledsoe - we gave up a 1st for him... because he was a vet and we weren't getting a "draft pick" which we used for a player... Now, could someone picked with those 2nd & 5th round picks have helped us THIS year? I don't want to go there... Maybe someone with a better crystal ball can answer that question. But that's what we gave up, and I agree that we gained a lot by having the rookie QB for a year (even injured and mostly holding a clipboard). When you factor in that '05 is a weak draft... it makes even more sense.
  3. good point... Rumor has it that Golsiano may bring them back... And for god's sake, get rid of that awful 3rd jersey....
  4. I wouldn't be shocked to See Bledsoe in a 'Skins uni... Just my .02...
  5. First off.... I'm a huge Sabre's fan... I was born in Buffalo - and left at a young age, but love all things Buffalo... always have. But, the Bills having made it to 4 consecutive superbowls for the first and possibly only time ever gained many fans from other places. There are many fans here who aren't necessarilly from WNY and don't share our love of the Sabres... to say nothing of the fans in WNY who simply don't like hockey at all or love another team... I, like you, couldn't figure out why many people here didn't show the sabres the same love they do the bills until I realized that. The Sabres, in my opinion, will survive the Lockout assuming it ends and there is a "complete" season next year. Because New Ownership rejuvenated fans... and I think many fans agree with ownership that the player salaries are just plain crazy compared to revenues. They see it in terms of insane ticket prices... I think some hockey teams won't survive the lockout, because they do not have the fan support... and to be honest that is probably a good thing because there are too many teams. Bettman and the league's biggest crime was adding teams as a way of generating revenue for owners when they couldn't market the league to get a decent TV contract. I'm even more thankful for Golsiano getting the Sabres last year, because without that ownership change, I'm sure the league would have folded the franchise. Go Sabres in '05...
  6. Oh my.... here we go again.... Bledsoe was definately better than RJ... but not "vastly" better... They would both say they were "Mis-used" by poorly designed schemes... I would counter that there is no way to scheme in today's NFL for whatever "talent" they posess...
  7. Thank you for 1 great year of QB - which didn't get anywhere... For at least giving us a belief last season - though things fell apart completely against Pittsburgh... And finally for being a very stand up guy today during your exit. You could have been very negative, but you said a lot of positive things about the team, and for that I respect you. Many people would not have made as gracious an exit given the same circumstances - myself included though I've never been in that position. It's easy for fan's to say we'd have acted that classy... but I know I would have taken more potshots than you did... And when you cheer that Buffalo Championship the way you talked about, I'll buy the first round or a dozen...
  8. Red '64 Hagstrom Model I (one of the oldest things I own...) A really ugly hair band Ibanez in Purple fleck... XL somethingorother... Magnatone Amp... Can't recall the model... A DOD effects pedal circa 80's... My dad keeps promising me his old 50's Gibson hollowbody J-150(?)... but I'll believe it when I see it... And I'd love his Fender Twin Reverb... Someday, I'll learn how to play... right now it's just for futzing with...
  9. Well... I am with you, I'm not 100% sold on this... more because of Losman's youth than anything Bledsoe... Thank you Drew for 1 year anyways... It isn't all your fault, but you didn't help yourself either... Good luck... I hope they sign Mathews to be backup, he was decent at least when he played... and won't be a "threat" I don't think for controversy...
  10. I am sickened by this... I guess it just reinforces to me that this is a "business"... and one of cronyism... If there is one thing I would disagree with MM on, it was that he brought in his friend to be S&C coach and "promoted" Rusty... I think Rusty wanted to just be the S&C coach, not an administrator...
  11. While Champ Bailey wasn't everything they'd hoped for... I wouldn't call him nothing...
  12. Travis would look golden behind that chop blocking line.... I doubt very highly we'll be seeking another wannabe starter... It would be Travis all over again, and as has been pointed out... How much of Denver's RB's is their O-Line mentality? I also do not think he'll have any effect on our attempts to deal Travis... Because Travis is more a proven commodity - though one who also proved he has problems (off field issues, running the mouthitis, fumblitis, and injury prone)...
  13. From the Article on the front page, those are his 5 current suitors (and the Bills in case a deal isn't to be made)... Personally, if we can get a 2nd rounder from TB (who has an abundant supply of 4 top 100 picks) for him... I think TD jumps at that... Travis is gunning for Miami... And I'd rather he didn't face us twice a year with a chip on his shoulder... Tampa would probably be a good option for him as well... Since he says he doesn't like the cold... He won't have to worry about visiting NE, NY, and Buffalo in December & January...
  14. If the NFL was serious about this sort of thing.... They'd suspend his ass... And if a game is too much, then suspend him for a half.... I think that would settle down this whole brainless celebration foolishness.
  15. I think that BuffNews article has it right... JP may get a shot to compete in training camp, but in the end, Bledsoe will more than likely start with JP as the backup.... I hope they try to keep Mathews as a backup too.... he was decent I thought. JP has the tools, but needs to get experience...
  16. I have an IPod as well, and I've purchased some from Apple. I also have the latest version of RealPlayer which supposedly also supports the IPod and they sell music for half price. I've never had any problems with the Apple Music Store... but I have only bought a few songs... I have a ton of CD's... (over 300). So I don't buy or plan on buying that many... It is nice if you can find some which aren't available in stores - and they are always cheaper than the store... I still like to have the liner notes and crap I guess is why I've never fully switched... It is easy to burn those on a CD after you download them, (and then reimport them as MP3s if you don't want the AAC files that apple sells to you.) If you have any more specific questions... PM me and I'll try my best.
  17. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?p...okie2004/week17 And Evans is among their rookie standouts...
  18. Forget All stats other than W-L... They don't mean squat... They are icing for Wins, but otherwise are meaningless. We played 7 playoff teams [NE x2 (0-2); NYJ x2 (1-1); Pitt (0-1); SEA (1-0); STL (1-0)] 3-4 overall... and 0-3 vs Division Leaders... As far as the rest of the opponents [(Mia x2 (2-0); Jax (0-1); Oak (0-1); Bal (0-1); Ari (1-0); Cle (1-0); Cin (1-0); SF (1-0)] 6-3 overall... and 0-2 vs teams with winning records. What that tells me is that we weren't ready for primetime this year. Sure we had a good streak against some losing teams, and did ok but not good enough to win in some other games. One other item of note I suppose... we were 9-3 when Willis Started... I think that could be a key stat... I liked Travis a ton, believe me... but this year he just didn't cut the mustard - and was injured some... I only hope that we can get some value for him in trade which will be less now that he's already going public... at least in "our" eyes... I know that Tom D plays hardball and won't take less that what he feels Travis is worth regardless of whether he says he wants out or not. I would say that I am disappointed that we didn't do better... but I don't think this was a dissapointing year as far as seeing that Willis is healed and was worth the pick. We saw much more evidence that Drew is not the QB he used to be. Lee Evans looks to be at least a good WR and maybe more. Josh Reed took steps backward in his game - which was disappointing - maybe even more than Drew and Travis lackluster year. JP Losman... you get an INC... for the season... so-so performance overall... and injuries to boot. Mike M, I think you and your staff did good for the year - unafraid to pull the plug on Henry when it was obvious that Willis was the better back... We shall see what you do with Drew in the offseason... I think we can do better - maybe even with our Rookie who'll be in his second year next season.
  19. Toledo Bill Said: I don't recall if he was or not.... I remember they run into him on the way back with wormtongue.... he's in disguise if I recall... but I don't remember if he's killed or just slinks off in his more or less powerless state... Somewhat more galling about that scene is when he casts some sort of fire spell at Gandalf.... when (for being a wizard) not much is the way of magic is used in the books - due to it being the end of the age.... (from - http://www.lord-of-the-rings.org/books/saruman.html ) For his foul deeds Saruman got an awful death – Grima sprang on him and sliced his throat. Saruman’s spirit rose from his body like smoke from a fire, looked toward the West, and disappeared with the wind. So, Grima kills him - but it is after his sacking of the shire... Which while I think it's important character development, I can understand not further developing characters "after" the climax of the movie.... Tolkien himself states that he flipflopped it's inclusion in the books - but left it as he thought it worthy.
  20. I liked the scene too.... My impression of why he didn't include it is more that by the 3rd movie, this is more PJ's interpretation of the Tolkien Trilogy than a movie of the trilogy... And that scene in particular flies completely in the face of the book... similar to this love-triangle with Aragorn-Arwyn-Eowyn (not in the books, but hinted at to a degree - and Eowyn does have a thing for Aragorn though in the books his love for Arwyn is unfaltering unlike the movie impression where he has moments of doubt). For those who haven't read the books (and if you can - you should although parts of them are skullduggery to get through, I realize this), Saruman is not killed at all... in fact you meet up with him again later in the books when another aspect of the books which PJ completely ignored - probably for timing more than anything else. Don't take this as a knock against the movies, I really liked all 3 of them, and own all 3 of the extended versions.... but as the movies went on - it became PJ's version of the war of the ring and the ending of the 3rd age - rather than JRR Tolkien's. It is a very entertaining movie trilogy which probably stays as close to the books as any other movie adaptation. There are things I'd have liked to see stay - or be done better (Ent-juice... in the end Pippin and Merry are supposed to be about human sized - not pint sized anymore)... But, I do look forward to when he picks it back up and does the Hobbit - which he says he'll do after a hiatus...
  21. This will be a tough game, maybe the toughest of what's left.... A win proves you aren't a pretender... a loss is just further proof that you are... Seattle is a lot like Buffalo, they sometimes just lose it when they are supposed to win, so it isn't impossible to get a win there. I think we can contain Alexander, and sometimes Seattle tries to do a St Louis imitation and doesn't even go to Alexander.... If Hasselback is back (and he probably will be) it'll be a different passing attack than Dilfer... Miami could have won yesterday - it was close.... but that was with Dilfer, not Hasselback.
  22. A shame? Yeah, he ought to be ashamed of himself... Officers came on an Domestic charge, found an woman who claimed assault, Drugs, Cash, and a Gun? That's not just bad.... That's horrible... Sure, innocent until proven guilty and all... but if it's true.... what a waste of humanity. He may not have had all the talent in the world, but he was endowed with gifts and he made wrong choices. And I'm not saying this as an attack on Mark, because I don't think he's getting a fair shake in the thread... It is a shame. I don't think he meant it as a defense of TR...
  23. The last 2 selections are purely for comic value...
  24. Why is it that every time we start looking good, we get a tough challenge (usually in prime time) where the team can show up and prove they aren't wannabes only to get pummeled... It's like deja vu all over again... Sure, if they win this game a lot of good comes out of it, but if they lose, it always seems to make it worse...
  25. I own most of the Star Trek which has come out (not DS9 at all).... and it all has fade outs.... But as it's been written, those are part of the program, TV is written with the epectation of a commercial insert... thus they have a series of climaxes and cliffhangers as hooks to try to get you to watch the commercials so you don't miss anything... I have the first two seasons of Rocky & Bullwinkle... they don't have the delays, but that's because they were written as a series of shorts and didn't get broken up by commercials.... like most cartoons of that time...
