First, love the Jauronimo pic. Nice. I don't watch much college football, so I cannot pretend to have any idea how good any of those players are coming in. More than the individuals chosen, I don't like the regular trend of trading away multiple picks to select a coveted player when there are stats that show trading down contributes far more to long term success than trading up. That trend continued not once, but twice in this year's 1st round, so that worries me. Otherwise, the process of trying to build while trying to win now has never led to much good, so if there is a long term process in place, then I think it needs to be seen through. I think last year's playoff appearance unrealistically raised expectations despite a poor roster that sustained more losses than it had gains this off season. This year, I'm pleased to see the defense as a whole perform better than it did to end last year, especially against the run. Not every game has been a masterpiece, but there have been moments by young players that are encouraging. Offensively, yikes! That's a hot mess. The line still needs upgrading, Benjamin seemed worth the price tag, but has failed & Zay doesn't look worthy of a #2. Allen came with notable concerns and we gave up multiple picks to watch those concerns show themselves on the field. Peterman must look other worldly in practice, because his assignment to the roster is perplexing. This year is was last year was supposed to be. I don't think all of our problems will be solved in one more off season either, but I hope with a solid draft and smart (depth) spending with salary cap relief we'll have a much stronger core. I cannot argue your point that McBeane has made suspect moves, but I don't sit in on the planning meetings to fully understand the motivation, nor logic behind each move. What I want to do is sit back, watch my team play and hope that each time that I do, I see something that makes me want to do it again the next week. I went to the Minnesota game and after the Charger loss, I had NO reason for optimism. That game changed my perspective. The Indy loss was rough, but the NE game was not the typical drubbing, so hope springs eternal tomorrow. I'm just saying that the process will take years to see through if they are in fact smart. It's not going to be a week to week thing, so I'm recommending we all settle down a bit and look for the positives and stop acting like the sky is falling. We KNOW we're not great, so we need to stop assessing this team as though greatness is regularly attainable.

This is the kind of comment I cannot understand. When did the draft become a precise and predictable event? Early draft picks are evaluated as close to cannot miss, or having measureables that cannot be passed on. Obviously there are plenty of misses. Late picks are guys who have some pros and some cons and teams hope they all outperform their draft position. Some do, many don't. Why assert that YOU KNEW that a late round pick wouldn't be good? Way to go Nostradamus! Great call. I think every owner should fire every GM and coach who's ever missed on a pick. Obviously missing on one means they don't know what they're doing across the board. Since McDermott hit on Tre White, we should just draft DB after DB. At least they're good at that. Maybe we stop acting as though a long term plan to build long term success may take more than one draft. We cannot continue to have it both ways. The playoff monkey is off our back DESPITE every analyst predicting this team to be bottom barrel last year. After two games this year, we presented as one of the worst teams in recent history. Low and behold, we won 2 of the next 3 and were in a position to win a 3rd. Clearly not everything is perfect. Time will tell is "the process" worked. Just PLEASE fess up later if you turn out to be wrong now. I hope to hear from you in a couple of years. Feel free to lay low until then.

Woods, Watkins, Hogan and Goodwin

Let's be clear. I think it's become evident that the personnel on the current roster cannot play special teams either ? -
That rule will be a bit different <starting> in the 2016 season. The league approved a proposed rule change from the Competition Committee that will make it illegal when a “defender grabs the jersey at the name plate or above and pulls a runner toward the ground.” It's the pullback action of the tackle that is being eliminated, so inside pads, or grasping the top of the jersey are the same. Like the other post said, hair is a choice, pads & jersey are not, so hair pull is ignored.

Leo Roth@leoroth This Bills loss isn’t on Nate Peterman, who will once again be skewered unmercifully. It’s on Coach Sean McDermott & GM Brandon Beane. I don't know who Leo Roth is, but I could not disagree more. If Peterman for a second thinks that the optics prior to making that sideline throw looked favorable, he's insane. That wasn't a contested throw Joseph took away. He just stood and waited for the ball that had zero chance of making it to Benjamin. I actually wondered if McD was going to go super conservative to run our the clock and take his chances playing normal tempo offense in overtime instead of forcing the issue racing the clock. Given his options, it would have infuriated some, but possibly may have been the better choice especially in hindsight.

For all of our woes, I may be more stressed as a Texans fan. Buffalo is not a particularly talented roster and the offense and special teams are playing very poorly, yet it is still a one score game. Is it not less impressive to have Watson, Watkins, Watt, Clowney et al on the roster, but not be able to put away what looks on paper to be a vastly inferior team?

For those freaking out over Allen's play thus far: Jared Goff as a rookie PASSING Year Team G Att Comp Pct Att/G Yds Avg Yds/G TD TD% Int Int% Lng 20+ 40+ Sck SckY Rate 2016 Los Angeles Rams 7 205 112 54.6 29.3 1,089 5.3 155.6 5 2.4 7 3.4 66 12 1 26 222 63.6 When Goff was drafted, the Rams had very few high draft choices upcoming, so his story was more bleak long term than Allen's. Stop behaving as though this team will win weekly. I'd like them to, but have perspective. Our line is playing better than they did the first two weeks. Our receivers still leave a lot to be desired. The defense is significantly better than they started this year. Our special teams are a major obstacle to success. This game is still competitive, just not particularly enjoyable to watch.

I understand protecting the kid, but this I don't understand: If you wanted a QB who could manage a game, then why not draft Rosen. He doesn't have Allen's arm, but he came in presumably more game ready. If you choose to draft Allen, why not let him sling it in that situation? If you buy a high performance engine, you take it out for a drive on the open road once in a while -

Lofton made a point earlier about Allen taking his eyes off of receivers to find a running lane. THAT behavior must be corrected. For those used to *itching and whining, that's what an articulate comment looks like. Try one. -

Not that I expect Allen to drive the field before halftime, but running clock in the endzone was not smart.
