I don’t feel this is hindsight. The Coleman pick was not adored at the time. Sanders maybe, but Beane has taken MANY early round players that were not clean fits for this team (Epanesa, Ford, Bashum, Oliver, Elam, Coleman, etc) that have provided minimal impact. Some later picks have over performed, but for their draft but they are not making up for the lack of impact in rounds 1 & 2

I don't totally agree. If you ask players to constantly play fast to make the penetration play, you're not encouraging them to break down and play solid fundamentals. The scheme here matters.

McDermott is a conundrum. He's taken us from doldrums and changed the culture so positively. Obviously, Josh is the major part of that, but McDermott's (& Beane's) contributions cannot be ignored. That said, I feel there is a ceiling to this defense and the ceiling of the players they bring in, especially on defense which is McDermott's side of the ball. I hope they do not waste Josh's career. That man deserve a ring.
