  1. I agree AND whats more is this GM, scouting staff have shown they know how to identify elite talent in the draft. So, instead of perhaps overpaying for a guy who may end up like Dareus/A Brown with his foot/helmet issues or any number of players who get that big pay day and turn somewhat invisible. I'd rather not see this team go that route. I think it was a blessing that Brown chose not to come here. Don't know that this years offense would be ready to utilize him properly just yet...besides all the baggage the guy brings. BTW, I'd rather the team keep McCoy who is still a special talent in my view.
  2. What? Clowney not in Buffalo yet? where is da Jet?
  3. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/08/13/jadeveon-clowney-trade-wont-be-easy-to-pull-off/ Anyone trading for Clowney would be getting his services for one year, with no ability to sign him to an extension until after the regular season ends. At that point, Clowney would have the leverage of a 20-percent raise over his 2019 salary, whether it’s $15.967 million or, if his grievance regarding his alleged status as a defensive end is successful, $17.128 million. That equates to either $19.16 million or $20.55 million for 2020, either of which becomes the starting point for negotiations on a long-term deal. So what would a team, assuming it has the cap space to absorb Clowney’s contract, give up in order to get Clowney for one year? And what would the Texans want to part with the rights to Clowney for 2019 plus the ability to franchise-tag him in 2020, sign him to a long-term deal, or let him walk in free agency with a compensatory draft pick arriving in 2021?
  4. Maybe why Zay Jones was still playing after the half or why Robert Foster was playing special teams. I thought that Clowney had turned down going to Miami?
  5. This really sucks for Frank Reich as I doubt he takes the job without Luck at QB. Might be a reason as to why Josh McDaniel's didn't take the job for the Colts. But then again their owner might be another reason... Luck played behind crappy lines for years and now when he has one of the best lines he quits... Kinda shocking as he is only 29...and we still have Brady in his 40's...
  6. Mario was ruined by Rex Ryan who had him taking on 300lb plus offensive linemen so the crappy Bills linebackers could make a play...or dropping into pass coverage. Instead of rushing the QB which is what he was initially brought in to do. Mario had 10.5 sacks his first season in 2012 under Curtis Modkins. 13 sacks in 2013 under Mike Pettine. Then 14.5 sacks in 2014 under Jim Schwartz. In Rex Ryan's moronic scheme the next season his sacks dropped to 5.0. Even Curtis Modkins got 10 sacks out of him and his defenses were in the 20's. Mario Williams made the pro bowl and was an all pro for Buffalo under Schwartz. He earned his money when he had the right coach.
  7. I agree. Also, as mentioned I think field position had a lot to do with how the offensive game plan developed. What was most important to me was to see that 2 min drive at the end of the half and it looked so good to see them move the ball like that. I'm not as worried about Allen as others seem to be. The only thing that really bothered me about the game was the way Stafford was able to move the ball in the air so easily 12/19 for 137 yards, 1 TD in a little over a quarter.
  8. 2016, 15 games, 322 carries 2017, 10 games, 242 carries 2018, 15 games, 304 carries This behind one of the very best offensive lines in the NFL with three pro bowl, all pro players on that line. He was also their leading receiver last year with 77 receptions.
  9. Just my opinion as I think the Bills go on a tear after that Turkey day nationwide viewing loss to the Cowboys. Both Brady and Big Ben announce their retirement at the end of this season as that top 3 Buffalo Bills defense beats them down.
  10. I'll have more perspective of how the season will go after they play the last preseason game as I have questions about the current offensive line. They are not going to have much continuity if Morse doesn't see some action soon. Then, who is to say if he can even hold up for the entire season? In any event even without Morse at center the line looks to be much improved overall. Another reason I raise some speculation is because the Jets defensive line gave the Falcons fits with Matt Ryan yelling at his line to give him more time this week. If the Bills O line isn't stable that first week it could be a big problem for the Bills offense. Plus, can the Bills defensive stop le'Veon Bell? I can recall last season the Bills D had some trouble stopping the run. This last question has some great concern because the Bills play against some really good RBs/running teams in the first few games Jets, Giants, Bengals, Patriots, Titans. Not to mention that Jets QB Sam Darnold has looked darn sharp in his two preseason games. So far the Bills defense has looked great against the Colts, Panthers. But that was without Andrew Luck and Cam Newton along with key Panther offensive/defensive players. It's nice to have a good feeling about winning games...but alas it's only preseason, which is meaningless. That season opener at the NY Jets will have a major impact on how the season will go for this years team. So many questions.
  11. Think I read that Long was playing RG, Ford at RT. Might be why Nsekhe wasn't happy about the situation. Anyway, looks like Feliciano will be the backup center too... Bodine https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2019/8/14/20805902/nothing-there-between-buffalo-bills-and-houston-texans-on-jadeveon-clowney-per-reports-rumors Tim Graham of The Athletic reported that a team source told him “Nothing there.” NFL Network’s Mike Garafalo echoed Graham. For John Wawrow of The Associated Press, it was an “LOL”. Reporter and radio host Benjamin Allbright was in agreement with the others. He did mention that, per his sources, the Bills were one of a half dozen teams to make an inquiry with the Texansabout Clowney, but stressed that nothing was imminent.
  12. Geez, from that link! "Anyone trading for Clowney would be getting his services for one year, with no ability to sign him to an extension until after the regular season ends. No thanks!
  13. If anyone was brought back it was by Beane who is the GM and responsible for the scouting staff, not McD. This is a brand new HC and he is learning as he goes. Being a first time NFL HC, he doesn't know what he doesn't know! Be happy that this HC recognized a wrong personnel decision and corrected it. Some of the coaches he hired came with some really quality resumes of past NFL experience. The NFL is a results business that requires good results and this HC demands an assistant coach get positive results to keep his job. That's a great thing! Hey, I don't know if McD has the wherewithal to be guy who can beat Bill Belichick on a regular basis like Marv levy did against Don Shula. But I think he has a earned a few more years to show that he can simply by getting this team to the playoffs in his first season. A 9-7 season with Tyrod Taylor at QB!!!...a guy who got one win for Cleveland in 3 tries and was promptly replaced. McD had a rookie QB last season along with some backups who had about a week or so to prepare to start. Speaking of that, the QBs in the draft who were noted to be more polished and ready to start in the NFL. The #1 overall pick at QB in Baker Mayfield only won one game more at 7-8-1. The QB selected #3 overall took his team to a 4-12 record and was on pace to break the rookie interception record before being injured for 3 games. Most of this board wanted the Bills to draft Josh Rosen "the chosen" to be their QB and wanted Beane to trade away the farm in that years draft along with the 2019 first round pick to move up to the #2 with the NY Giants to draft Rosen, who went 3-10 with Arizona. Lighten up, as this years team might surprise.
  14. Geez, the guy Oliver was going against is an all pro, pro bowl graded as one of the very best OGs in the NFL and he held his own. Other critics have said he graded well against the Colts. As far as that Zay Jones pass/drop goes. Might have been the sun in his eyes, might have been alligator arms, might have known he was going to get hit and protected himself in first instinct. All I know is a top receiver catches that ball, period!
  15. Jeez, I think this FO has shown that they can identify elite talent in the draft. So, to me, it makes little sense to go after an elite high dollar run defender vs an elite pass rusher like Mack. Mack was worth the money and draft picks. JMO I kinda hope the Dolphins do trade for him and give up the farm. They had Suh and it got them nowhere...on that thought the Bills had the #4 overall defense, the #1 pass rush in the NFL in 2014 and it got them to 9-7, which was second in the AFC East behind the 12-4 Patriots. At this point I'm glad the Bills didn't sign Brown with his foot/helmet issues. Build through the draft.
  16. Vlad the turnstile, ... bid adieu!
  17. I believe four. The thing was I could record every game from Sunday which were shown at 1 pm / 4 pm and then have a chance to watch at my leisure during the week on my DVR. They would show each game at half hour intervals from midnight to 6 am, Mon thru Wed. Each game was only a half hour long with literally no commercials and little commentary... awesome right? https://forums.att.com/t5/DIRECTV-Apps/NFL-SUNDAY-TICKET-Short-Cuts/td-p/4900732
  18. As a backup because I don't see Bodine on the roster if he snaps over the QBs head again.
  19. Probably looking at him for center...
  20. And all this with a brand new scouting staff after Whaley was fired after the 2017 draft. Look back to last year's free agent walk on's Levi Wallace, Robert Foster. Brandon Beane is starting to look better then Polian... Beane didn't draft, or walk into HoFers Bruce Smith, Andre Reed who were already on the team in 85 and Kelly was drafted in 84. I know Beane has his share of detractors at this time... all I say is, i love what the guy has done so far!
  21. I cut ties with Direct TV after they stopped showing the "shortcuts" on Mon, Tues, Wed nights. I used to record the games I wanted to review and watch at my leisure during the week. I loved watching the games with no announcer comments or commercials. I mean, who can watch so many games all at once anyway. Better to just watch the highlights on various channels. I switched to Spectrum and get NFL network along with the red zone package . I watched the game last night on channel 8. I also have their high speed internet 119.1 mpbs download, 11.2 upload along with a landline. I haven't looked back...especially when it rains.
  22. I agree. That said, I agree with a bunch of what @GunnerBill said. As far as Allen goes, how many times have I seen a big armed QB come out in the first few series of a game and make errant throws, mostly overthrows. Allen did fine and if Zay Jones makes that catch Allen's percentage and overall look goes up. If the team had a backup center on the roster better then Bodine,I suspect he would have been cut after the game with that snap over Barkley's head. Saying that I also think TJ Yeldon will be gone after the first cuts. Turnovers are a game killer. My biggest takeaway was the Bills defense looking so good and even with the backups. We watched Ed Oliver destroy Bodine in camp but we never thought he would do as well against Quinton Nelson. A lot to like from that first pre season game for Bills fans.
  23. Ooohhhh, the opposite of Trent Edwards, Nathan Peterman! Sucks in practice and makes the big plays during the game.
  24. Bump Zay, make Foster the #1. Love that guy!
  25. Bills D looking good! Bills new turf on the field looking good! Bodine...not so much!
