  1. Refs stress locating the ball and he didn't do so until late. The NFL will make pot legal before they make coverage legal again
  2. The Brady picture looks like an E-fit of someone that's required to tell his neighbours that he's on some kind of register.
  3. By the same token, I'm not actually opposed to using the same Cooter logic and vouching for giving Cardale a shot in this circumstance. Maybe we strike oil with the kid. If so, cheap starting QB for 3 years. If not, nothing prohibits us taking a shot in the 2018 class.
  4. Give me 3 years on the Cooter/Mahomes ticket. He's done a great job with Stafford, helped with the irritating decision making that's held him back. Mahomes in a work-in-progress but he's got that level of arm strength. Different candidates will bring different answers. Mahomes is my Cooter solution.
  5. Who do you propose plays RT in this scenario?
  6. It's Cooter time.
  7. I think we're seeing the major downside of having a mobile QB as it relates to the OL. The 5 guys up front have a play call and an assignment. With a QB like Tyrod, he breaks structure so much that it's difficult to block for him. Defenders have eyes on him and can react, the blocking can't. I think the hold on Richie is a prime example. Not one ref calls the hands outside the chest if that stays as a 3/5 step drop and the ball comes out. Taylor scrambles, Richie's locked up and unaware, Autry (I think) moves and forces the flag.
  8. Last night, it was systemic failures in all three phases. Over the course of the season, it's typically been a failure on O or D, if not both. The lack of consistency is a coaching issue for me. I think that typically guys like Shady, Sammy, Kyle, Marcell are talented enough to transcend coaching but that's not the making of a sustainable team.
  9. And the possible cuts required to get enough money to put bodies in roster spots as well. Turnover is going to be bonkers.
  10. This is just a little bit yikes. Per PFF, Tyrod was 4/15, 58 yards, INT under pressure. 4 sacks, 26.7% completion rate, 15.4 passer rating.
  11. Hate and eight. Beat PIT, lose to CLE, as is the tradition.
  12. "I'm getting too old for this ****!"
  13. I agree on David Lee. Tyrod might not be heeding advice from him (can't say anything with certainty) but his track record is pretty poor. Wouldn't carry him over. In fact, I would probably start from scratch with the coaching staff. I'm not against ripping the FO up and starting again but I'm good with keeping Whaley, Monos and Rob Hanrahan (Director of Pro Personnel). I don't see the team as talent-deficient in a lot of areas, I put quite a bit on coaching. As HC, I want an offensive-minded guy. Leading candidate for me is Jim Bob Cooter, I think his work with the Lions has been superb. He's got Stafford playing smarter, I think he could use Shady in the passing game the way he currently uses Theo Riddick. I have faith that he could either guide a rookie QB and limit the negatives of a journeyman vet. Cooter can install any OC he's comfortable with, anyone that's on the same page with him philosophy-wise. My current pick for DC might get laughed at given recent years but I'm taking a gamble on Gus Bradley (I mean JAX have to fire him, right?). He's clearly not HC material but I would bring him in to install a similar Cover-3 heavy scheme that he's run in Seattle and Jacksonville. That forces us into the 21st century with an athletic roving FS. I'd even try and poach Pete Alamar from Stanford to be the ST coach. Had two years at Fresno State, they blocked 18 kicks in those two seasons. Good track record with the return game as well.

  15. Here's an interesting discussion point (Bobby, I don't want to hijack the thread but I think it ties in). If we rebuild, what do you get rid of? What do you keep, if anything? What do you replace them with?
  16. Tyrod was woeful in the 2nd half but I have no clue what Anthony Lynn was thinking. Everything was flowing and they get away from it. They tried to get too cute at times, to the point where even Greg Roman thought he was being an idiot. This team has zero identity in crunch moments and it's time for a change.
  17. Before the Seattle game, I thought he'd been absolute crap. Only had 107 snaps all year, even with Dareus out.
  18. Yep. It's a blessing and a curse. So much easier to assume something and be unsure than see it and know. I try not to go 100% stats or eye test with anyone. One day, I'll solve the statistical conundrum of quarterback play but, until then, advanced stats are just a small piece in the puzzle.
  19. The best part of the game for me was seeing him read the screen and close from an off position. He's had his struggles in off-man and zone reps but that was a sign that he might be learning to transition better.
  20. PFF is pretty strict on drops and they've only got him at 5. As a whole, they have the team at 15 drops. Clay's been a disappointment but the drops angle is a slight fallacy.
  21. I'm trying to brighten their life up and you suggest baseball?
  22. By the time they realise it, it'll be too late. Those that stuck with them through the relocation should just say "!@#$ it" and go watch the Blues. Makes me glad for Rex Ryan
  23. @jeffphowe The test that triggered Branch's suspension contained traces of pot from a previously failed test. There was nothing new in Branch's system. @jeffphowe So that's why Branch appealed. Once the league ran through the facts this week, it rescinded Branch's suspension before the appeal hearing.
