  1. I've heard some stories about the kid but nothing that I'd consider as being worse than the AK incident. Although where the NFL draw moral objection has long been something that's kept me awake at night. I'm interested to see the "truth" with Chad, if worse does exist.
  2. Post June 1st, that goes down to $3 million. A net saving of $4.5m. He's already on the cap for 2018 for $1.25m as it is so kicking a little more down the line, to a year where we have more space, isn't the worst idea.
  3. If they want to put anyone at FS this year, I'm more than happy with it being the guy with a 1.51 10-split and a 6.87 3-cone.
  4. But if you wanted to, you could cut him with a post June 1st designation and save yourself $2m this year after the cost of Groy.
  5. I believe he's seen as a running back, which he is. I'm not fond of him as a between-the-tackles runner but he's far from being a bad runner. His agility will give him chances to make people miss even if he's not a thudding type of guy into contact. I think he's on that Vereen/Riddick scale. Can be a solid 3.8-4.2 YPC guy as a runner but needs 6-7 targets per game to vary his workload. You take him in the 1st, you must be thinking he can get better as a pure runner like David Johnson did.
  6. Groy did it at the Shrine Game a few years ago. Jeff Risdon liked him doing it so consider me sold. We need to bring back Lee Smith as the full-time LS though. Would be hilarious watching him cover punts
  7. I guess it depends on how you see the two. I think Rex has been the best RB on the Bengals roster since he joined it. Criminally underrated. I also don't think the sun shines out of McCaffrey's backside. I know you differ on that assessment but I think they are slightly different variations on the same theme. Rex might not have the long speed but he's one shifty dude and he's a little thicker/stronger which I prefer in a 3rd down back for pass pro.
  8. Congratulations to Stephon and Gabrielle on the new arrival.
  9. Rob did a film piece on Davis, his skill set and how he fits the McDermott defense. http://billswire.usatoday.com/2017/03/13/breaking-down-what-de-ryan-davis-brings-to-the-bills/
  10. Elliott was a 4-3 end at Toledo but played a 3-4 OLB role in Green Bay. Little light for a McDermott DE so maybe evaluating him as a backup Sam? Someone to take Lorenzo's ST snaps so he can focus on playing LB full time? Playing DE at Toledo at 240 so he's capable of dropping the weight. Then again, signing Davis might've ended the interest in him if they saw him at DE.
  11. I was not privy to this review.
  12. I did a "things to know" piece on Butler. You know, just in case you were too lazy for a Google search of something. http://billswire.usatoday.com/2017/03/13/5-things-to-know-about-new-bills-wr-jeremy-butler/
  13. He'll probably be fighting for a 4th/5th spot as a backup to whoever the #2 WR ends up being. 4.6 speed guy, decent routes, sticky hands. Possession WR type that doesn't really have a remarkable physical skill. Joe Flacco raved about him (and his hands) 2 years ago in mini camp. Kinda like the Boykin signing last year but more reliable.
  14. Backup boundary receiver that could get a little slot action in certain down/distances. I'd expect vet minimum(ish) and an outside chance at the 53. Liked him a lot at UT Martin but not followed him as a pro much.
  15. I adore the MAC. We typically get a good 15-20 games here during the season (and a few from the Sun Belt) and I agree. The DL/LB guys tend to be a tad undersized but that's where the NFL is going so it's a fertile recruiting ground. I'd have a Toledo and Bowling Green defender in every UDFA class if I ran a team.
  16. And he wasn't offered an RFA tender. Doesn't count to the comp pick formula
  17. Davis is a versatile guy as well. He can spell Lawson/Hughes but he can also play a little on the interior in nickel/dime packages, played anywhere from 3T to Wide-9. Not a world beater, just a guy that is good as a 20-25 snaps per game type of guy. Context is mightily important.
  18. He's been a beast since about mid-way through his sophomore season. People just took notice more once he started getting sacks.
  19. Thanks for posting this. I spotted a typo
  20. Rob certainly ain't old We all see things from a different perspective. I've overlooked some concerns before with players, focusing on the talent, I'm not going to be a hypocrite and lie. I'm strictly of the belief that with Chad, the talent is a little overstated yet it exists. Although I think the talent in Chad's case is curbed by his maturity issues and decision making. I wish the kid well, nothing more I like than a good redemption story. I just don't want my team taking the chance. Similar approach that I took with Johnny Manziel, although they are different people.
  21. Might be controversial but Burkhead > CMac. I've had a thing for a few random RB's in the past few years. Rex, Roy Helu, Cedric Peerman (mainly for ST purposes).
  22. I think the Jags were angling for a trade in 2015, if my dodgy memory serves me right. I know I wanted him and Chris Trapasso was a big advocate for him as well. I'm trying to find a reason to moan about this. Can't find one.
  23. Elliott & Butler were both "my guys" during their draft processes. I love this new staff already.
  24. I really like this move. Rotational end with some history of getting after the QB. But, you know, not a guy many had on their wish list so he inevitably sucks.
  25. @FieldYates Source: former Bengals RB Rex Burkhead is at Gillette Stadium visiting the Patriots today. Bill knows all of your narratives and is now doing this to prove a point
