Jalen didn't play last game so no mistake was made

Leaving Kohou on Diggs without more help was a mistake.  Howard was available for that game and shouldve traveled.  Try anything cause 6 for 120 and 3 TDs seems like a mistake or are you saying there was no way of stopping Diggs that day?  We saw Kohou lining up on Diggs and took advantage.

I’m an anesthesiologist with a couple thousand knee replacements under my belt. Most of these football players end up with arthritic knees. Now add a fracture that crosses the joint space at the top of the tibia and you are talking guaranteed arthritis. He will be fine to play and finish out his career, it’s soon after he retires that he will be getting that knee tuned up. Fortunately, we’ve come so far with knee replacements that they can be same day surgeries. At one place we’d do 5 a day by 4 pm.

Kyle is a physical therapist, he’s not a physician btw. Listen to the difference between him and Chao who’s actually an orthopedic surgeon. Night and day. He’s very good at discussing likely rehab times once he knows the injury, because that’s his job. He is right that Milano will be able to play post injury.

I get his schtick, I know Marino likes to have him on weekly, but I rarely hear useful information from him. It’s a lot of hedging “Well, he didn’t practice all week, but if does play Sunday it will be a limited snap count”. Wow, brilliant.

Appreciate the context and does describe why i was hearing different things (will need replacement vs should be good).  if you saying post career hell for sure need knee replacement i think thats different than what he is saying.

i agree he does a lot of simple research on how the team treats injuries ("in Mcd's tenure we dont see them come back from hamstrings quick"), but the timelines for return as well as likelihood of return to full performance should be published.  I would expect both of you to be able to do that literature review and come to similar conclusions.  that might not be too helpful for me, but helps me greatly.

Now I’m confused,  Who said this in the Cover1 slack channel?

And did you mean “later than the playoffs” or “later in the playoffs”?

If Milano had 8 weeks of non-weight bearing, starting say 48 hrs after the injury (10-10) - it may have been a bit later, sometimes they wait for inflammation to subside before doing surgery - 8 weeks would be early December, like Dec 5th.

    Yeah sorry it was confusing.

Kyle Trimble is in the slack.  And in his victory lap for nailing the diagnosis (we are lucky as fans to have the dude) he said he thought Milano should be able to back before the end of the playoffs.

That’s the extent of what I’ve been hearing. But figured I’d share all the good rumors cause I’m certain we’re all desperate for it right now.

I was actually suggesting he should have opted for a titanium knee this season but my sarcasm meter is malfunctioning.

Sorry. First guy wasn’t sarcastic I think. He never replied so I did yours. My B on missing it

    Come back this season?

Yeah in the cover 1 slack channel he said the whole thing begged the question why he couldn’t return later than the playoffs.

  5. Trimble is still hopeful he can come back and considering he nailed the diagnosis I’m also remain hopeful

    Just now, BringBackFergy said:

If he was a team player, he would have opted for the knee replacement now so this doesn’t happen again next year.

What. Why do either of you think knee replacement is inevitable

The fracture is at the top of the bone near the knee cap.

Guaranteed knee replacement down the line with a guy in his profession

Interested to hear why you say this when Kyle has consistently said he’ll be fine once he recovers which takes a while.

I have been reading all the posts I can find on this game both here and on finheaven.  As the week progresses, I am getting less confident.

The Dolphins will go into this game with great resolve.   This feels like the Chargers game.  The Chargers looked like there was no way they could compete with us and we played to their level.

If we do that with this game, we will be looking at the end of our season Sunday night.

I hope the players and staff have learned from past mistakes and come into this game with the same determination that the Dolphins are sure to bring.

I had lots of reasons to think the Chargers could compete with us.

The new coach bump is real as the players wanna show they werent the reason for failure.

    Going west.

they had extra rest which also probably multiplied the new coach bump.

they had just gotten blown out and wanted to show better.

All that said we probably win comfortably if we dont lose TO battle 3-0 where they got 16 points.  Of those 4 reasons above only the last one carries to this game.  I think Miami will be competitive because they have better players, but I don't see this going the way the chargers game did.

Ramsey hasn’t been 100% I kind of hope they try that honestly

Miami is in a pickle for sure.  sorta wanna see a lot of 12 and 13 personnel from this weekend.  We could go spread with either personnel grouping and force them to use LBs (where they are super weak) to cover one or two of Cook, Kincaid, Knox, Morris.

Nick Wright actually made a point I agree with today (among many I disagree with).

He said if the Steelers lose Saturday, he expects the Bills will play significantly better Sunday knowing they're only playing for seeding.

But if Steelers win, the Bills having 24 hours digesting the added pressure will make them come out tight & play worse.

Leadership isn't as strong this year, and McDermott's voice may not be connecting like it once was. I also just believe Josh absorbs all the stress & chatter fans do.

What is the evidence leadership isn’t as strong or that McD isn’t getting through?  He managed a poor season in which the OC was fired and now has the team playing well at the right time with a chance for 2 seed. I think there’s a stronger argument that his leadership is what kept the season from going off the talks than there is an argument that he’s not getting through.

What is up with Floyd.  Is this a veteran's day off or is he dealing with an injury?

It is amazing.  Dolphins have 18 players listed on their injury report.  The Bils have five.

I hope we can take advantage.

    Go Bills!

It said rest so that’s why DNP but obviously he’s getting treated for ribs too. But he should be good to go

They don’t believe they can win outside of Miami Gardens, which is odd considering the home advantage isn’t that good

agree the fans dont make the home field advantage that great but the elements certainly do.  It is unfair and maybe unhealthy the set up they have down there.  It is very difficult to to overcome.  McDaniel has only lost 3 games at home and only 1 was prior to December (vikings last year without Tua).

The Phins are 7-1 at home and 4-4 on the road. Their offense is much better at home because of better presnap communication. Huge difference versus playoff crowd noise away. If they win then they’ll be set up for two home playoff games. I’m sure they will play to win this one. I certainly would.

I think the offense is better because of the heat. The noise helps but that heat is crazy.  Do you think Titans win that game in the afternoon in Sept or Oct?  I think they wouldnt have the gas after baking all day.

don't know where else to put it but the AFC-NFC record this season is 146-146 - a perfect 50% out of 292 games.

Im not sure what this post is saying.  There havent been 292 games this season as there are only 272 in the regular season that we are not done with.  Are you saying the AFC versus NFC record is split?  thats not correct as AFC is +12 by my count.  So confused what you are trying to say wit these numbers.

  13. Small market big drama.  Feel like everyone on the board knew we were gonna get the fins for the division in week 18 after they blew against the Titans.  That lone is a good story but to mix it with "or else miss the playoffs" is just entertainment gold that isnt even available to other team sports.  the variance with the outcomes of this game is absolutely bonkers.

Thank you so much for finding that. I see that referenced here all the time but I had no way of finding it. That is pure TBD gold right there, right up there with the Josh Allen draft night thread and some Dunkirk Don action.

The secret is that some subset of all fan bases want the coach fired unless they are actively winning SBs.  Also, the Fins are currently coming off of an embarrassing butt-kicking.

I'm partial to the shah's spleen discussion but yeah those were solid.

a couple of hours ago, i had sirius nfl on. of course i caught the tail end of it, but said someone was out besides chubb.  the cb?

    Howard

Waddle missed last game is also likely out

Mostert missed last game will likely play

Tua left 4th quarter of a blowout with an injury but will probably play.

They are also down starting center, a guard (i think), DE phillips.  And know that it enters my head Armstead is probably banged up too

    3 things for next year

1.They need a new strength and condition coach. In my 40 years of watching football, I have never seen a team lose so many top front line players in one season like I saw with the team this year.

    2. McD must get an Defensive Coordinator to call the plays he designed at the right time and in the right situations.

    3. McD needs to have an older assistant coach on the sidelines with him to serve as a calming voice. Because I am convinced that sometimes he is just not thinking straight in game situations. All that being said, next season (meaning 2024) should be make or break for him

    What does everyone think?

Actually this was off the Miami message board and I just shorted McDanials to McD and changed the one word of offensive to defensive coordinator.  Is kind of funny reading other teams board as you'd think from reading posts here, we're the only team in trouble like this.

    1) OL has been super healthy this year and Josh has the longest active starting streak for a QB over Mahomes by a lot.  Combined with our recent history of not getting hurt (2017-2021) I think our luck just caught up with us the past two years.  Maybe the criticism is the way they handled the London game, but that doesnt seem like a reason for firing if we have done well in the normal situations.

    2) Why?  like i would want him to get one but are you saying hes not calling the plays at the right time and situations?  I think he is as we lately keep stiffening up when teams get in FG range.

    3) Maybe.  Hes not mistake free but also has some good decisions even lately.  Wish he was getting more flowers for calling TO on 3rd and 1 with 2:41 to go when we were in shotgun.  Coming out of TO did buffalo shove for a first down.

I 100% disagree next season is a make or break season for him.  We just set a franchise record for 5 seasons with 10 wins in a row.

You totally lost me when you just said you copied it from Miami board.  Start a new thread for this stuff and get it out of the game day thread please.

Douglas turns 30 at the start of the 2024 season, so I don't know if it's wise to extend him beyond that?  It doesn't look as if they're giving up on Elam either.

For the 2024 roster at CB, they currently have White, Douglas, Elam, Benford, and Taron J.  They'll probably ink Ingrahm and Brown from the current PS as well. I don't know if there will be much of a market for Dane Jackson and Cam Lewis, so both could also be back.  White is certainly the big question mark for them, but if Elam finally gets it together, they will be in decent shape at the position.

Yeah thats a great point and i wouldnt support an extension more than 2 years.  Also I wouldnt gurantee any salary after 2024 (though would probably have a signing bonus that spreads across the remaining years).  that can hopefully give us some cap flexibility which we need.

Agree with Ingram and Brown being on the team next year (futures contract i think).  Agree Dane is interesting.  We are loaded and CB is always a need so I think Dane finds a home.  Cam is a safety at this point and has completed his conversion from CB.  I think we are in good to great shape at CB no matter what Elam does as we currently have an above average top pair, Tre as CB3, and Elam being CB4 under contract next year.

I think Trey is getting cut what happened to him is sad

We’re pretty set at corner as long as we re-signed Douglas

It def could happen.  I think we know soon as he has a roster bonus due the 5th day of the new league year in march.  Wouldnt be shocked to see him take a pay cut cause sorta the good dude he is.

youll be happy to know we dont need to re-sign douglas as he is under contract next year for 9m which i am very happy with.  might even extend a year or two to get that number down with some gurantees.

Rasul is a clear upgrade from White. I like Tre, but he is not nearly the playmaker Douglas is.  Rasul has 4 INT and 2 FR as a Bill.....

Lol im gonna need you to put some respect on Tre's name.  Tre has always been a playmaker at a rate as good or better than Rasul (his time as a Bill is not enough sample size to make such definitive statements).  Tre has 20 less games in his career and only 1 less pick (18 for Tre) and 6 less PDs (74 for Rasul).  Tre has also had 5 FF to Douglas's 2 (I consider FF to be making the play and FR a bit of luck, though again 5 for Tre and 3 for Rasul).  Rasul has played out of his mind (clear defensive player of the week to me) as a Bill but lets not throw shade on Tre cause of that.
