  1. HBD man. 40 huh? Here, I got you something. Had my 40th last month, but didn't think to start my own thread (smart move), though mead sent me a PM beforehand apologizing for not being able to do one for me because he'd be out of town. Mead's a classy dude.
  2. Everyone's got problems.
  3. Torn ACL making a great defensive play. Done for year, maybe career. Tough way to go. IMHO, Hall of Famer. Probably go first ballot because he was a constant on those Braves teams that went to the post-season every year. Didn't really have the huge numbers (in the steroid era) except for that big '99 MVP year, but did it clean. Only 6 All-Star games in 16 seasons? I would have guessed at least 10. Sorry to see you go Larry. Guys younger than me are now "old".
  4. It seems as though I remember Jack McCoy arguing with one of those hottie assistants that "intent follows the bullet". I'm not sure what that means here, not having any legal expertise other than TNT Dramas. You know, unlike the rest of you lawyers.
  5. Alison Brie is on "Community" which isn't great but isn't bad, either. You couldn't tell how hot she was on that show because for the first half the season, she dressed kinda like Trudy Campbell. Then in one episode she was wearing a tight tank-top and had changed her hair a bit and I, of course, exclaimed "Holy smokes!" It was quite a night for me. I decided to go back and watch MM from the beginning. I'm about 1/2 way through season 2. Now I understand what I was missing. Fantastic show.
  6. Ever been to a mall food court and been assaulted by people with a sample of their own "Bourbon Chicken"? Later I'll end up at the liquor store stocking up on Maker's Mark.
  7. The one red flag I saw was that "she wanted learn to be a broker", but her boss spent time on ScottTrade.com. If he were a ScottTrade registered rep, he'd be on that site ALL THE TIME. If he worked for a different firm, that's a WAY bigger deal than being on Farmville. But she was hot, so I was distracted. She doesn't have a page on IMDb, but this will probably launch her career. She's got a bit of a Claire Forlani thing going on there.
  8. Played with Carl once. Dude coulda been a pro, but seemed mildly distracted. It was probably a woman. Lived in Syracuse for 2 years right next to Bellevue Country Club. Finally played the course the day before I left. Pretty nice track.
  9. Glen Oak in East Amherst was a pretty nice public course as I recall.
  10. Rolling Hills? It's in Plantation/Davie FL near my old office. Some of my friends played there, but I never got around to it. I heard it was nice, but not great.
  11. The CEO of my old company belonged there. He said that they only allowed women on the grounds of the club one time per year and that was for the Valentine's day dinner-party. This was also the day that the club presented the members their annual bill. He said that the name of the club was "Adios" because that's what you said to your family when you left to go to the club. He also claimed that Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy's, was a member there. Of course, I'd never join a club that would have me as a member. /h/t Groucho
  12. PGA National, Palm Beach Gardens FL
  13. Why? That was only his 255th HR as a Yankee. We're obsessed with base 10 numbers because we have 10 fingers. Really, you should be pumped for his 256th HR because that's 100000000 in binary. Do you think he's nervous about that milestone? Oh wait, Lance Berkman just injured him. /I got all kinds of Hatorade for A-Rod just because of this photo // was a better man (substitute "steroids" for "cocaine")
  14. I just read this entire thread and I feel I need make this demand: Johnny Coli must re-start his blog. Thank you.
  15. The New York Daily News, that bastion of journalistic integrity weighed in thusly.
  16. Well... if I was tired all the time, I'd be a miserable, cranky misanthrope too. Wait....
  17. MLB is pretty good at scrubbing everything from YouTube, but here's (along with some strange imagery). That bird just asplodes!
  18. Your response should be, "I do not accept your premise." Homosexuality in Nature (Yeah, it's Wikipedia. But it does cite real academic papers.)
  19. 30 km/hr = 0.5 km/min Caboose has to travel 2 km for the total "trip" through the tunnel, so 2 km/(0.5km/min) = 4 min. I still can't believe that 1980 was 30 years ago.
  20. I'm with you on the Food Group thing. Included in the argument that pizza is the worlds most perfect food (it still is) was that when properly topped with pepperoni or sausage, it had all four food groups. Curse you progressive taxonomists! My friend has a 7 year-old daughter. She told her she had to "finish up her vegetables" before she could get dessert. The kid's response: "Mom, corn isn't a vegetable. It's a grain." How you gonna argue with that?
  21. I thought the Sabres were the "smart" one in this town?
  22. The place looked impossibly green on TV. They were saying the course had to be watered so much over the last few weeks due to the crazy hot weather we've all been experiencing. This left the course defenseless against these guys. I wonder if they'll try to grow out the rough and narrow the fairways for next year? Here in Charlotte at Quail Hollow, there's talk that the membership wants the QH Championship to go away. That would be too bad because the "Green Mile" is the best 3 closing-hole stretch on tour. Great to hear you had a good time.
  23. Reminds me of the Orthodox Jews that have the gentiles do their work on the Sabbath. God loves he who finds loopholes.
