And every week after a winnable game is lost, this will be discussed. The Bills need to simply approach every game as if they are going to hang 60 on the opposition.
-
That's the one. Not third down, but a crucial play as the Bills would have been 1st down and in fg range at worst. Regardless a drop.
-
No your post intimates how great it was that Josh didn't try and win the game on his own, and many here disagree and think what the Bills need is Josh doing everything he is capable of to will them to victory and stupid controlled play calls the first 22 minutes and then out of ht needs to be scrapped.
-
I think we've been over that before. It has been discussed ad nauseum. Let's talk Sunday. Josh was on a leash (& drops were crucial).
-
They were up the majority of week one. Not sure what happened as was at a concert, taped it and once the score was revealed by accident I decided not to watch. Sunday the issue was they were down, unmotivated and the play calls were to a script that was accomplishing nothing. Again look at the Play by Play and tell me you aren't shaking your head at just how bad it is. https://www.espn.com/nfl/playbyplay/_/gameId/401547228 Only come the first TD did they after again starting out with two junk plays (maybe still the same 15 scripted ones?) did they start opening it up. This is exactly when Josh needs to be set free!!!!

Second half, second down and would have been in FG range. Pretty sure this sequennce. 1st & 10 at BUF 10 (9:30 - 3rd) J.Allen pass deep right to S.Diggs to JAX 42 for 48 yards (A.Cisco). 1st & 10 at JAX 42 (8:56 - 3rd) (No Huddle, Shotgun) J.Allen pass short right to J.Cook pushed ob at JAX 42 for no gain (F.Oluokun). 2nd & 10 at JAX 42 (8:16 - 3rd) (Shotgun) J.Allen pass incomplete short right to G.Davis. 3rd & 10 at JAX 42 (8:10 - 3rd) (Shotgun) J.Allen pass incomplete deep left to D.Knox. Penalty on BUF-C.McGovern, Offensive Holding, declined. 4th & 10 at JAX 42 (8:03 - 3rd) S.Martin punts 34 yards to JAX 8, Center-R.Ferguson, fair catch by J.Agnew.

They were nice catches on perfect passes from Allen. A professional football player should be able to jump up and catch a football (part of the reason you have tall receivers). The TD pass was on closer look just a perfect pass by Allen and yep Gabe made the catch. I want him to succeed, but to me he just made catches and good for him (the one drop came at a bad time too).
-
Which should have started in the first quarter, but NO!!! Dorsey has a game plan to establish the run and some dink and dunks......😉
-
And the offense did not until the fourth quarter, down two scores. Regardless make one play on third down deep in Jax territory, the field is flipped and so may be the outcome.
-
The defense gave up countless 3rd & long conversions and couldn't get off the field. They made two plays, when the ball was already deep in Buffalo territory and both happened to be 3rd down plays (so at most saved 6 points). Tired of the accolades they got. Make a play when it was third & 11 from the Jax 5-6 yards line and the game is switched. The offense again did not adjust and Allen is sent in piss poor play calls and yep when he has only call to make he better complete the pass (no drops) or they're punting. Classic Bills coaching.😡 What happened to him running? Third of 7's you'd know once if flushed out of the pocket he'd find a receiver or scamper for the 1st down. Now it is a controlled pass at the chains.

The Cincy game definitely is on Mahomes and Reid's stoopid call at the end of the first half. However no one has used the word hero ball to describe Mahomes and his bad games are shrugged off. We'll be hearing about the Jet's game for a long time and frankly I am worried Allen's free spirit is being beaten out of him by the coaches.
-
What is "balled out". A nice sideline catch, which 95% of NFL #2 receivers catch and catching balls that hit him perfectly in two hands when thrown to them? I love receivers and the love they get when catching simple balls. It is the tough receptions that warrant mention, or taking the hit and holding on, or a real good toe tap. Gabe made the catches he should have and dropped a very easy one at a bad time.

You do know Mahomes is known to play hero ball and seems to work there. We need more Allen hero ball and less dinks and dunks when the Bills are in tight games.

I said this same thing after the Raiders & Commanders games, that you can see either by decree or a concerted effort he is trying to fit into a system where running is the very last resort and you can see that he seems reined in by the play calling. And yes superhero Allen would have won that game, but the defense didn't get off the field and almost invariably play calling didn't play into Josh's strengths. We've seen it before how frustrated the offense get's sitting on the sidelines and watching other teams march up and down the field, convert 3rd downs and when they get the ball back conservative plays. Please closely look at the Bills play calling and how many were runs or short passes and nothing complex or motion and you wonder whether Allen too is frustrated getting those plays called from the sideline. https://www.espn.com/nfl/playbyplay/_/gameId/401547228

Long prolonged drives are the basis for TOP. When you can't stop the other team from gaining chunk yards and getting first downs, you are not doing your job as a defense. As stated above only Miami had more yards yesterday (and don't forget the defensive penalties and yards added there). Only NO had more TOP. But yep the defence was amazing yesterday. And I have not absolved the offence and made it known I thought Dorsey again schemed a lousy game. He has this dink & dunk approach with Allen and works like a charm when you are playing inferior teams (or one that you own at home).

And again Tua did move the ball and there were a # of 4th downs they didn't convert. Of course their performances against Howell, Wilson & Jimmy G were outstanding. When out front and against under average QB's this is always the case with Buffalo's D. Wait until they excel vs. Tyrod & Mac Jones and the superlatives that will be bestowed on them.
