NE**** second half "game" thread
Perry Turtle replied to TakeYouToTasker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So the Bills are built to be run-first team, and when the commit to the run, they're actually pretty good. Today, Gillislee (a backup RB) and Taylor are averaging over 7 yards a carry. Problem is that Gillislee only has 11 carries and Taylor 4. Meanwhile, Taylor has 37 pass attempts. The Bills will never win with that run/pass ratio. The coaching staff calls plays like they don't understand how this team is built to win. -

Can we all agree that Gilmore only has 8 games left as a Buffalo Bill? -

Brady running up the score here. Rex and his defense roll over and show their bellies. -

Remember when the Bills had the 4th ranked defense in the league and loudmouth Rex Ryan said he was going to make them better? Yeah, that was fun. -

So the guy leading the league in sacks gets injured covering a punt. No coaching malpractice there. -

This is it for Ryan. Defensive genius who continually gets it handed to him on 3rd down. -

It looked like Rex was making the defensive play calls today. -

Rex is nothing more than a .500 coach. Riding the roller coaster to 8-8. -
Fox PBP man Dick Stockton--worst announcer ever?
Perry Turtle replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stockton may be slipping, but he was always one of the better pbp guys. I also want to cut him some slack because that whole FOX production was terrible. I always prefer when the camera keeps focus on the field after a play ends so that we can see the ball placed, substitutions , huddles (or no), and line adjustments. Announcers comment on all these things and it keeps them in the game. During this game, the camera was all over the place after the whistle blew. Shots of the crowd, shots of the sidelines, tight closeups of the QB. This was especially annoying because the 9ers run the no huddle. Not to make excuses, but I think that this threw off the announcers. They weren't given the opportunity to set up or break down a play because the camera was focused on a closeup of Taylor or on Chip Kelly reading his play card. -
Column: "Pats have clear road to Super Bowl"
Perry Turtle replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They had a clear path last season too until they hit the last 5 games of the season and the playoffs when their OLine collapsed. If you want to crown them, go ahead and crown them, but there is a lot of football left to be played. -
Can Chip shake **** this year?
Perry Turtle replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Chip does his defense no favors with his speed offense. The Bills gashed the 9ers defense in the 4th quarter. It'll be interesting to see how much longer he lasts in the NFL. -
Bills Offensive Line---they make everything go...
Perry Turtle replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Throw Felton in there with the OL. They need to run the ball more coming out of half time. Their run game definitely sets up the pass game. -
I don't think it's what he said, it looked like they dialed back the blitzes and tried to make Kaepernick beat them from the pocket, which is the best strategy against a rusty QB with poor accuracy.

3-2 but Tyrod has had 4 bad games this season

Broncos won the Super Bowl with a QB who threw for 141 yards and an interception. -
Jim Schwartz is a great DC. Rex Ryan is a great DC. They, however, run vastly different schemes. This whole Mario issues is less about Mario (an aging and overpaid DE) and is more about the overall impact to the Bills decision to alter course with Ryan. Many make the argument that the transition from Schwartz to Ryan cost the Bills a legitimate shot at the playoffs last season. Mario was the poster boy for the issues on defense, but remember that Dareus and Hughes combined for only 7 sacks last year. So the transition was not an easy one. And the transition to Ryan's defense has also been pricey. It hastened Mario's departure, creating dead cap space. And the Bills spent their first 3 draft picks on the defensive front seven, which at the end of 2014 was unfathomable. However, if the progress the defense is showing this season is legit (and like most Bills fans, I pray that it is), and the Bills make the playoffs, last season will be seen as an acceptable transition to success, and not a self-inflicted crash and burn season, adding many more seasons to the playoff drought. So it's less about Mario, and more about the Pegula's decision to rebuild an area of strength under Ryan. Considering the results after the first 5 games, the argument tilts in favor of this decision. If the team ends up at 500 or worse at the end of the season, however, the argument tilts back against the decision to hire Ryan, and Mario represents the missed opportunity to build on the success of Schwartz's defense.

The Bills are built to win games 'ugly,' and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Seriously, who believes the current Bills are going to beat teams by throwing for 350 yards a game?
-
No Dareus or Sammy? No problem
Perry Turtle replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills also won games during the Super Bowl years without Kelly, Thomas, Smith, and Bennett. The current group has done a great job of pulling together, but we do want Dareus and Watkins back, especially if this team proves itself to be playoff caliber. -
Did Belichick cost the Patriots?
Perry Turtle replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Belichick probably was forced to play the guy who was less injured. He was probably hoping for some help from his defense to protect his offense, similar to the Texans game. Unlike the Texans, the Bills were efficient on offense and allowed their defense to go after the Pats injured, rookie QB. -
What separates a playoff team from a non-playoff team
Perry Turtle replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Or the Broncos... There's no one way to win in the NFL. There are multiple paths to success. Having decision-makers smart enough to pick the right path is the key to success.
