  1. There's plenty of reasons for both arguments, more-so for him to be shown the door though. I am going to respond like I did in the other thread that loosely covers this topic: Marrone should be here for three reasons: Whether people on this board detest Manuel or not, it is irrelevant. He's Doug's guy and we need to see maybe some stars have aligned and we have the player the staff and fans hoped for when he was drafted. I think if indeed Marrone was given marching orders come the end of this season, whomever stepping in would be getting a hard deal. Orton/Manuel/Tuel doesn't scream long-term answers - yet. I would not for a second like to see this defense go through another coaching staff change. There is absolutely no way, even though Schwartz has pulled this defense up a notch, that he should take over the reigns (which would be the only way that doesn't happen). I just want to see that maybe, this coaching staff can get things right. Especially with the hole we are in for next year's draft if there is big time struggles down the last 6 game stretch. Either that or there's wins... One more year can't hurt.
  2. If I am not mistaken, their OLine has had just as many, if not more turnstiles than Pears and Williams/Richardson over the past few seasons. My point is that irrespective of what the boneheaded decision that has been made, Smith certainly has a plethora, the Quarterback's they play have been the large part for a lot of the team and their fallacies being overlooked during their tenures. And Matt Ryan, while he isn't playing the level that is expected he still is a decent option at QB and can win you games. Then again, you post is basically stating that Mike Smith isn't the sole reason that team has turned from a contender into a complete bottom feeder. Even though he's playing bad - Ryan is the only thing on that team that I actually see winning them games.
  3. What do you class as fall? There isn't exactly the same premium placed on backs as there was 5/10+ years ago. He'll go anywhere between the first and second (#12-64). However I doubt he makes it past the 50's. Precisely. That's something I give Billy a lot of credit for: knowing when to get rid of a player whilst they still have value.
  4. Gurley is a potential monster but what good is he if our QB situation and OLine is still a mess? None. After watching this nobody last night for the Pats* it should be more evident that if an offense has the right nucleus; line and QB, then even role players can succeed and dominant a game from time to time. I would like Gurley but not with Freddie, Boobie, Brown and a potential CJ in the backfield next season. Priorities. Priorities. Priorities.
  5. Given the moves now, yes, we did overspend. Though I cannot falter the move if that's who they felt we needed to turn things around, even though a 2015 1st rounder would be nice. I mean, whilst EJ never wowed be during his rookie season, I did have the expectation that he could and maybe even would grow into the role of a starting QB if things fell into place (especially with Sammy and the other offensive weapons) - it's happened to several quarterbacks over the years. Edit: Currently, they have to be ranked: OBJ, Benjamin, Watkins/Cooks, Brown, Evans and then Landry/Matthews.
  6. Because he had that game against the Steelers in which he dominated. Every reason to be scared Jimmy.
  7. I would actually disagree. They wouldn't exist without one another. If Brady doesn't have the ability to lean on the defense during the 2001, 2003 and 2004 season, there is no way they make the dance. Frankly, the teams they put a whooping on during those seasons didn't exactly have respectable or stellar defenses. And vice-versa, if Billy boy doesn't have Tommy the past 5-6 years, I highly doubt that he would even be around. In essence, their scenario was just destined to be intertwined. One would not be without the other.
  8. Given the current situation and QB play, I don't mind letting Marrone stick around for at least one more season. If would be unfair for a new HC to inherit Orton/Manuel/Tuel.

  10. Theoretically, as of week 11 standings, he is the the best coach out there now. You know the difference between these Mike Smith/Chuck Pagano and Marrone? Quarterback play. Nothing more. Nothing less. Matt Ryan and Andrew Luck were the first picks by each head coach respectively. If either didn't have a good-to-great (potentially) Quarterback, well, Mike Smith would have been canned and Pagano would likely to be shown the door.
  11. Did anyone just see the play Trestman/Kromer called in on 4th & goal?...
  12. We will go 5-1 over the next 6 games.
  13. Is it just me or could Sammy do better with his blocking...?
  14. Bit too slow on offense but I'm feeling confident. Let's get a win!
  15. Sadly, I thought the same thing.
  16. "Chin up."
  17. Who did the Dameshek football baby pick?
  18. 298 yards (209 passing, 89 rushing) 6 sacks (Dareus: 1, Hughes: 2, Mario: 1, Bradham: 1 and someone else lol)
  19. Totally concur with all your concurring.
  20. I don't really think he'll become a free agent. Most likely the Vikes trade him for something and remove that huge contract off the books. In saying that however: For a reasonable price, maybe. But one would have to assume that while he won't be getting the same kind of contract, he'll at least command Gore - Foster type money ($6.5m - $8.5m). So no. No thank you.
  21. Red Zone improvement and performance in the opposing side of the field in general. Outwith that we play reasonably well. Terry is our salvation though, right?
