Buffalo Bills ''alternate facts''
LA Grant replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"I haven't thought about Rex's firing." -
Rex is a heart-on-the-sleeve guy in the dumbest ways, but that's why he's a lovable character. Just not a great head coach.

Tim Graham article -T Pegs considers dysfunction an insult
LA Grant replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. Reading this, I came away even more of a fan of the Pegulas than I had already been, and even more annoyed at The Buffalo News and the local Bills media than I had been before. The Pegulas kept the team in Buffalo, they're invested in its success, they seem like smart people doing the best with what they have each step of the way. I can see why they don't need think they need to do anything more than try to win. The ones who need to find more is the media because they need to fill the air with something — because there's appetite for it. "Who gives a **** about Whaley's press conference?" Well the media does and so do the fans — mostly because they're both bored. Maybe instead of speculation and handwringing about figuring out who to chase out next, they could do more with finding former players (which to their credit TBN does do sometimes and excellently so, like the Talley story). What does Eric Moulds think of Sammy? Or whatever. But instead the media and the fans are more interested in finding things to be anxious about. It reminded me that the fan has several separate relationships with the Bills — one with the team as a concept, as logo and colors and location; one with the individuals, the players and staff and owners, past and present; and one with the media, including social media and message boards. I agree with this. I was very happy with the questions. -
Walter Football on Chad Kelly
LA Grant replied to filthymcnasty08's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He may be a Kelly, but there's no such thing as a good Chad. -
I'm not necessarily convinced the team should move on from Rex & Tyrod, BUT if they do... I'm remembering that after Marrone & Orton left, my original hopes were for Darren Bevell and Matt Moore. Considering how Moore has looked starting in place of Tanny the last two games — how would you feel about pursuing him in the offseason? He's under contract so you'd need to trade for him but assuming he could be had for a 3rd round pick, I think he would be a good investment. He's 32 but that isn't as old as it used to be, especially for QBs, and especially for someone who's been a career back-up. If he works out, I think you have 5 good years with him while you find the next franchise guy. Not to mention 5 good years would be more than the Bills have had from the QB position since 1996.

WIVB Josh Reed: Rex knows he's fired
LA Grant replied to dezertbill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So in the span of 5 years, we'll have had 3 head coaches. The last two each only getting two seasons, all with unproven QBs. We are the Buffalo Browns. -
Keep Rex, Fire Whaley....... by a 36 Year Bills Fan
LA Grant replied to coldstorage5's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whaley reminds me of Tom Donahoe in some ways — they both loved the splashy draft choice (how is the Lawson pick better than drafting McGahee?) and they tend to build the core team through free agency. It's a good way to find yourself in the worst possible situation: up against the cap with no success to show for it. Most frustratingly for me is how Whaley seems to just neglect certain positions. The QB depth under Marrone was a disaster, and it's absurd they did nothing after Kevin Kolb slipped on a banana peel. Jeff Tuel started that year! Jeff Tuel!! It seems like the only good QB play under Whaley has come because the Coach forced it — Kyle Orton was definitely because Marrone insisted on it, and Rex wanted Tyrod. Same thing with the WRs this year. Depth was an issue after Harvin went down last year but nothing was done to address it in the offseason. I'm not saying Whaley should be fired necessarily, he has had his moments. But he's as much to "blame" as Rex is, if not more so. -
POTUS Vows Action Against Russia's Hacking
LA Grant replied to Keukasmallies's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It's amazing to me that a president was impeached over Watergate yet with a foreign rival doing what looks like the equivalent or worse, a majority of people are willing to just shrug it off and move on. I would think if the FBI and the CIA agree, to find a way to be dismissive of that is incredible, yet that's what is happening. The argument that it didn't matter or wouldn't have changed the results seems to be what people keep saying, though I would think that would be irrelevant. The collusion itself is unprecedented. How was Watergate worse than Russia interfering with the election in favor of Trump? Genuinely curious to hear that argument. It seems to me that Watergate wasn't a worse offense than Russian hacking, and that the result and evidence were just as clear in that as they are in this instance. The difference being that now the media is more splintered and people are just further into their own realities. -
You're an idiot.

The Mizzou/Yale/PC/Free Speech Topic
LA Grant replied to FireChan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Hey, speaking of Satan... http://www.king5.com/news/local/tacoma/after-school-satan-club-concerns-tacoma-parents/370418113 Here we have crybaby parents protesting the after-school Satan Club, even though it is allowed under state and federal law, and that the club itself is in response to similar Christian after-school clubs. Typical special snowflake Christians, always trying to regulate our speech. You know how they are, if it isn't "Merry Christmas" or "under God" they throw their usual tantrums. I know a few! Ah, what a dumb country. Anyway, happy holidays and Hail Satan, everyone. -

The Right has its own version of political correctness and now it has a term. Great piece from Washington Post here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2016/12/07/the-right-has-its-own-version-of-political-correctness-its-just-as-stifling/ Sorry if I'm interrupting your safe space here, I know how you special snowflakes react to different opinions. -
Khalil Mack "Sammy Watkins stole Buffalo from me"
LA Grant replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With the way he's playing, Mack would've actually been worth the two first-rounders. -
I remember Eagles fans pointing this out after the trade, that besides being a top athlete, he was also a great teammate and leader. It shows in a lot of areas.
-
Yes, worth it. We have 0 offense outside of McCoy, and the receiver group hasn't had good depth and talent in a long time.
-
He reminds me of Kevin Gilbride or Mike Martz in that way. I predict a similar career path for Greg Roman.

McCoy asks Bills fans to be respectful of Kaepernick
LA Grant replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You need to take an IQ test, man. -
Before your meltdown, this was about football and Rex's decisions of where he's allocating his PR efforts and how that affects the team. Pretty valid discussion, I'd think. There are other threads for other football related issues if you find this one bothersome. Mods, please delete this poster for harassment and not following TOS ;)

How so?

Well, when you publicly endorse a guy running the most racist campaign in memory, during one of the most racially-charged eras in 20 years — YEAH, you're going to stir up some bad feelings along racial lines. Hard to see that one coming, Rex.

Bills Working on extensions for Gilmore & Maybe Tyrod

Finding ways to keep the Glenns and Gilmores is the difference between the Pegula Bills and the Wilson Bills. -
ESPN 30 for 30 - O.J.: Made in America
LA Grant replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah I think you're right. There's a lot to unpack with the trial. Bronco chase will probably be half of one of the hours. Actually, the 30 for 30 of June 17 1994 is one of the best docs they've done, I think. -
Both correct. The meaningless game I was referring to was the last game of the following year (Flutie and Wade's last with the team) — http://www.billsdaily.com/articles/thunder/sea.html
-
I agree, it was a dumb thing to say and the fact that the Colts made the postseason made him look especially foolish. Wade also mishandled the QB controversy and wasn't enough of a disciplinarian when they needed one. But that 2000 team didn't run for the bus as I recall — I remember the last game of the year pretty well when Flutie got to play his last game as a Bill, blowing out Seattle in a meaningless game but a heck of a show. Basically what I'm trying to say is I don't think Wade was perfect, but he didn't lose the team, and he had plenty of good qualities on display even then that he shouldn't have been fired. And yeah, this is hindsight, but it's also applying that lesson to the current situation because Rex and Wade have a lot of noted similarities.
