Ted Washington not impressed with Bills DL
TPS replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Too bad he wasn’t on the team in 1990... -
As long as US government debt is issued in US dollars, the supply of which is under the control of the US central bank, the US will never go bankrupt. Overthrown, possibly...

2019 Renewed Optimism - for real this time
TPS replied to Coach55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
20 years ago I saw Flutie beat the Jags on a last second TD. The only game I went to this year was the Jags. In both cases I felt it was the start of something special. I'm with you Coach! -
Still, based on what interests me and if I'm forced to choose, I'd prefer a good analyst over a good writer.

Once again we really need a TE

Yes, I’ve been waiting a long time... -

I keep waiting for Croom to have a breakout game... -
I was just thinking about his articles and how I’m rarely tempted to click, and I was thinking it’s a consequence of sites like this. I’m much more educated about the game thanks to the many experts here, so if you write something that’s not much different than what I can find here, why should I bother?

A Revolt If Trump Is Impeached?
TPS replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yes, I'm sure vetted. A little different than being questioned under oath. It wouldn't take much to trip him up. -
A Revolt If Trump Is Impeached?
TPS replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Which is why trump should never and will never testify, otherwise he will perjure himself about something completely unrelated to the investigation. If he did though, then the investigation would no longer be a political witch hunt, as he would be lying under oath and all here would agree.... -
Will Buffalo Have a 1,000 Yard Rusher in 2019
TPS replied to TigerJ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope not because it will most likely mean the O-line still sucks and/or Allen hasn't learned to stay and move in the pocket. -
[Please Change Title] This is a loss I can deal with
TPS replied to WMDman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allen got them into position to win, but the D couldn't preserve it. I'm ok with better draft position too. -
Average monthly jobs gains by year (in 1000s): 2013 192 2014 250 2015 226 2016 195 2017 182 2018 206 (11 months to date) The first two years of Trump haven't been much different than the last 4 years of the "previous administration"...

TBN: UDFA Rookie CB Levi Wallace playing lockdown defense
TPS replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I seem to recall BillinNYC touting Wallace way way back... -
I'm sure you have some survey data to back this up.....

It is not a short-term phenomenon; it takes years for the process to shake out. Look at airline deregulation. It created a much more competitive industry and led to the creation of a lot of new regionals. Competition caused some to fail, but the survivors then started to acquire others--both for new markets as you say, but also to reduce competition to gain more control over pricing and profits. It's the nature of the system. Your beer example, again, isn't the issue. No one is really concerned when a large firm buys a niche player where the niche market is pretty competitive, as micro brews are. The issue is when large companies acquire other large companies that lead to the top 3-4 controlling 70-80% of the national market. Those handful of firms then use their economic power to influence any regulation in their market--regulatory capture. And, again, the only thing that keeps them from acquiring each other is the threat of Anti-trust when you are left with the possibility of only 2 firms in the market. Even captured politicians have difficulty making excuses for that (unless they're FOBs--Friends of Bezos....)

Can Money Buy the Bills a Spot in the 2019 Playoffs?
TPS replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, $80 mil is what's left after they sign the 10-12 players. -

After they release Clay, Ducasse, and Ivory, it'll be $100 million, so 31. One active is a second punter, so 30. They will give offer sheets to all of their ERFA, 7 I think, so back to 37. Of their own UFAs, they'll probably try to sign Phillips and Barkley. Others they may bring back if the price is right: Groy, Mills, Miller, Thomas; if Zo or Kyle want back, I'm sure they would do it at the right price as well. All in all, I think they'll have between 40-45 players on the roster (and down to maybe $80 mil) when they are ready to go after other UFAs... -
Brandon Beane Gives Blueprint to Critical 2019 Offseason
TPS replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep, my #1 target. -
I did describe the harm. Markets with a greater degree of competition tend to have lower prices than markets with less competition. Another bad example. GI doesn't compete with the mass beer market. The microbrewery market is still a highly competitive market. When the big boys take over a successful one to broaden their brand, that usually reduces their appeal. Now, if AmBev buys Molson/Coors, that's a different story...
