-The top IOL were already gone.

-There was a huge run on receiver, leaving scraps and mostly 2nd round prospects

-RB is never a position the Bills have heavily invested in, and Zack Moss is still under contract (although I think he's garbage).

-There are zero 1st round rated TEs this year.

Do you think the draft is over? They literally have 6 more picks.  This is just a poor take.

I'd bet a lot of money that Knox ain't goin nowhere.

A LOT of other mocks I've looked at in the last hour have Davis and Penning the other way around. My thoughts on that are sure, but how does Penning make it past the Saints who need a tackle at #16? So if the Ravens go Davis and the Saints go Penning, maybe the Chargers go receiver?

My point was that they might try to jump in front of the Saints if there's only one R1 OT left.  We'll find out soon enough...

He'll continue using the rules he's used and committed to. That's the most likely thing we'll see.

He'll trade up, but not trade away picks in the first four or five rounds.

He'll go BPA at positions of need (which will be a bit wider than just the three obvious ones, including things like safety, TE, etc., particularly a bit later)

Unless someone like Jordan Davis falls a long way, he'll go WR, CB or IOL with the first pick. And he'll cover all of those within ... oh, maybe the first five picks, I'm saying.

    ...

Oh, and I'm guessing punter in the last couple of rounds

This is a good take, especially your 3rd sentence. Given their cap constraints going forward, they will need to draft a number of positions where guys can take a year (or two) to develop.

For those that have The Athletic, go read Joe B’s most recent article. He argues why corner at 25 isnt the slam dunk many are making it out to be. It’s a good read.

Check the Von Miller quotes in the thread Yolo put up, he's actively recruiting Haden.

I think that was my point in the post you initially responded to.  Spotrac currently shows $18 mil in cap space because they took down Diggs' current $17.9 mil cap hit.  We won't know what they have currently until the contract details are made public and they still don't have Jones' contract up yet.  My guess, was that they'd have about $7 mil (+/- a mil) after we know the details. Take out $2 mil for the top 2 draft picks, leaves about $5 mil to add a CB if they desire. All guesses at this point, until we know Diggs' contract.

I see the #s are up, which shows they have $7.1 mil cap space now.  I thought Diggs would be a little lower than his $11.7 and Jones a little higher than his $1 mil, but the total is right where I expected.

I think adding a vet CB is a certainty now, since Beane doesn't like going into a draft needing a position.  Adding someone in the $3-4 mil range?

I just watched Stef's presser. He is just an extremely impressive individual. He gets it. The Bills are very fortunate to have him. You also get a sense of the togetherness across the whole roster when he talks about Gabe and jokes about Isaiah and talks about the coaches.

He is really enjoyable to listen to, and an interesting dude.

  6. Of course, the one day I'm gone all day...

With the  only pick in the first 3 rounds of the 2022 NFL draft, the LA Rams select Myjai Sanders, Edge, Cincinnatti.

No pressure, but Myjai will take over for perennial all-pro Von Miller who left us for some team out east...

@MAJBobby and the 49ers are on the clock.

I think you mentioned in your later post but is is actually less than $2 mil for the rookies. Top 2 require almost exactly additional $2mil, 3rd add some change, but if we keep some rookies from lower rounds (which we do), they will actually lower our cap hit. So it will be $2 mil (unless Beans moves a lot).

Diggs' old cap hit was around $17M. New numbers are not known yet, but I guess his 2022 cap hit will be something between $5-8M, max $10M (Von Miller had $5M despite his contract). So this creates cap space for rookies, $3M needed for some in season changes and maybe some cheap FA CB.

Yeah, the first estimate of $3 mil was a guess, then I looked at the #s and saw it was closer to $2 mil.

It will be interesting to see how the new contract impacts the Diggs cap this year!

My point is that the numbers will all be significantly shifting around in the near future. So the graphics and reports and whatnot that show we had no money left, while technically accurate in this moment, will be changing. And it is only internally that Beane has the money earmarked, not that it would show up on any of these reports.

Interestingly, I was thinking yesterday that a Diggs extension just might happen soon because Beane needed to make room for the rookies,  and it seemed to be the logical move at this point.

Spotrac has us 18.1 million under the cap. Don't forget next year we will get some relief from the amount of dead money we have on the books.

Because they took Diggs' current cap hit off until they know what the new contract looks like.  I'd guess that they'd get to about $6-8 mil in cap space after the details are added for Diggs and Jones.  They need about $3 mil for the top 2-3 draft picks.

ummmmm. Getting new contrasts doesn’t mean they stay longer….

you gives high bonus now and then release him jnn2 yrs…..

It's a 4-year extension, which makes the contract a total of 6 years, adding the existing 2.  He's here for at least 4, and they will use it to lower this year's cap hit significantly.

  11. With the 79th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the LA Chargers select Quay Walker, LB, Georgia.

The Chargers were looking at Spiller and Emerson as possible selections but, with both gone, they chose to select a more athletic MLB to pair with last year's R1 pick Murray.

Overall assessment (added): For a team that is expected to compete with the Chiefs in the AFCW, the Chargers have some serious holes to fill. The right side of the OL is simply not good.  OT Penning helps tremendously, though they will need to upgrade or add competition to RG. Other weaknesses on O include lack of adequate depth at WR, RB, and TE. On D, LB, and depth at boundary CB and IDL could be serious issues if injuries occur.  At LB, Walker could help Murray reach his potential.  Without a R2 pick, the Chargers still have some weaknesses that teams, in what may be the strongest division in the NFL, can exploit.  Of course, having Mack and Bosa rushing the passer will make it a lot easier on the D...

@mannc and the Houston Texans are now on the clock.

With the 74th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons select:  Isaiah Spiller, RB Texas A&M

With his great vision and tough running, we are excited to add Spiller to our revamped offense.  There were some defensive positions we had looked at here, but with our targets off the board, we stayed true to our board and went BPA and took what we feel was a great value here.  Pairing him with Patterson this year will be a tremendous combo to help our young offense not only stay on the field, but finish drives.

@BarleyNY and the Denver Broncos are now on the clock.

There goes 1 of the 3 picks I have on my short list...

I'm about to go out of the house for a few hours, and it's about to be my pick after H20. Rather than hold everyone up, I sent my pick to @Virgil.

(side note: How does it seem like after waiting around for forever, it always seems to be your pick right when you're about to go out or go to work or go to bed? Like clockwork).

Yeah, I made a pick from the golf course last year!

With the 28th selection, the Green Bay Packers select Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn St.

Our QB needs weapons, and while we selected the WR with the highest upside 6 picks ago, Dotson will give him a starting, reliable WR immediately and the closest thing this draft has to a Davante Adams (in terms of play style).

The Chiefs @Logic is on the clock

This is a very likely pick depending on how the WRs go.
