    WR I don't think is low.

    Stefon Diggs is bottom side of the Top 10 WRs in the league.

    Gabe Davis has a shot to move up the board this year.

    Past that, Crowder is an average veteran, Shakir is a rookie, and McKenzie has never been trusted by this Coaching Staff for high percentage reps.

    Yeah, re-thinking it, they have two guys who have to prove themselves over full season in Davis and Lil dirty.

    That’s what I was thinking. Not a single top 10 ranked offensive unit besides quarterback? Josh Allen is a one-man show. Should be number one it if that’s the case.

    Except GB's WR and TE rankings are 30 and 29 respectively, so AR has even less to work with (GB is ranked 1 at QB). So maybe #2...

    Wish I could read the article. It is subscription only.

    Sorry about that.

    Other position rankings not mentioned in OP for the Bills:

    WR = 12  (low imho)

    RB = 24

    TE = 13

    Edge = 9

    LB = 8

    CB = 8

  4. ESPN posted their position rankings this morning.  The Bills placed 3rd overall, with S the only #1 ranking.  Of their rankings, I think they are off the most on the Bills' DTs, 19th. OL may be their most generous at 14.

    QB was ranked 4th.

    I think you are pretty much correct.... my only quibbles would be I'm not sure OJ Howard is a total lock. I think the Bills want him to be, and the contract would suggest it but boy, oh boy, he does not look impressive at all. I don't like it but I don't think it is beyond the realm of possibility that Sweeney retains that 2nd spot and Howard is cut. Remember the whole Jacob Hollister thing? We all presumed he was nailed on as the 2nd guy and he got cut.

    I also don't think 9 DL is a total lock, though I agree that it is very likely given their history. But if Shaq doesn't seal that job they might feel comfortable that at least two of Love, Bryant and Ankou could be snuck through to the PS and then activated on gamedays if required? Maybe they even feel Shaq might make it to the PS? So I extend your defense question to Cam Lewis vs Spector vs 9th DL (2 out of 3 make it). I think this decision comes down to who is easier to sneak through to PS and while they have managed that with Cam Lewis the last two years, I fear he might get picked up off waivers now mainly because he can play inside / outside and last year he played 35% of the Bills special teams snaps. I could imagine a bottom feeder team looking at that versatility and saying "worth the risk."

    As for the "final 4" as you have termed it.... I think Jones is pretty close to being locked in and then it comes down again to who you feel good about sneaking onto the PS - I think you feel good about Blackshear and Morris getting there so they miss the 53. Then Austin is out unless he wins the returner job (anyone know why he didn't play on Saturday? Is he injured?) so it comes down to the three receivers and Sweeney and one of them misses out. TBH if I was picking it'd be Sweeney, I just think he is a marginal NFL talent and we lack depth at outside receiver so I'd be willing to roll the dice on Hodgins.

    The guys at Cover1 debate the Lewis v Taiwan.  I lean toward the keeping Lewis over Jones.

    Taiwan isn't just a gunner, he has been an elite gunner, one of the best in the NFL. Now I do think he slowed a tad last year but my instinct is that for the Bills none of the other candidates have yet passed him. I don't think he is a lock, but I expect him to make the roster at this point.

    Agreed. My point was that Duke's chance probably comes down to finding a solid gunner to replace Taiwan.  Given the potency of their O, I would think they put more weight on the gunner position than the return.

    Was interesting to me that Kumerow did not get an opportunity as a gunner. Last year when Neal and Jones sat in pre-season Kumerow got a shot and did it some in the season. Cam Lewis and Nick McCloud were the gunners last night I think based on what I could see. Is that because they know what Kumerow can do and are content? Or is it because they think to win a spot he had to show out as a receiver? The answer to that question is critical to Hodgins's chances. If it is just him v Kumerow as a receiver, he has a shot. If actually the body of work counts (offense and teams) then he doesn't.

    I think the gunner positions are going to influence several battles.  Duke J was the best KO returner last night, but making the team will depend on whether or not someone other than Taiwan Jones is a viable gunner. Is there someone at another position that would make Jones expendable on coverage teams?

    For everyone debating Elam vs Benford, it’s a great probably to have! Kudos to both of them as they will be contributors going forward. Same with the WR group. With the quality of this roster, I would have to wager GM’s will be calling Beane about who is available for a trade or draft pick.

    I do wonder with the play of Duke and Blackshear if Taiwan Jones roster spot is in trouble? Duke’s speed is obvious. Also wonder where Crowder and Tavon Austin stand. Next week will be important for both of them.

    Lots of positives from this game. Three final thoughts, Matt Ryan looked bad, BillsMafia showed up in force and for all the great work the D did, can we stop giving up big chunks of yards after they make a sack or force the offense into long down distance. For example all too often, it’s 2nd/3rd and 20 and then they give up 15 yards playing soft D.

    Lets go Buffalo!

    I had a similar thought based on Duke's KO returns.  However, Jones is he's also a gunner, so Duke or someone else on the roster would need to show well at the position.

    I said this earlier and got slammed for it. Camp updates have sucked.

    There was a lot of hype, interest and tweeting the first week or so. After that Red and Blue practice, I think everyone is ready for the next phase--preseason games.

    The league is becoming more and more dependent on speed, not ground and pound. Outside of the DL, having players that can deal with speed will be very important. The investment of having a big, potentially controlling group of interior defensive linemen would enable the Bills to have more athletic, speed guys as their two LBs plus the nickel CB.

    With Settle, D. Jones and Phillips they have the size inside then add the more unique skill set of Oliver and that may be the formula. But let's see if the rookie can play first. If he can, then it becomes an interesting discussion.

    I’m very interested to see this group. I think Jones and Settle will be a big improvement over Star and Phillips, more Star than Harry.

    Bernard calling the D. Interesting. Not to make this another Edmunds thread (lord knows we don't need another one of those) but in the context of the decision that we know is coming at some point in the next 9 months that is a very interesting development. I noted Leslie stopped short of saying Bernard's skillset is the same as Milano's the other day too. All he was willing to say was "there is some similarity in size." Maybe they see Bernard as an MLB?

    Chris Brown was talking with Frazier yesterday on OBL about Bernard playing MLB and whether or not they try to change things up because of how physically different they are.  Sounds like Bernard is learning both positions.

    I'll say it again - Cook was the most important addition to the offense this offseason. He gives us an element that was entirely missing from our offense.

    I doubt you'll find anyone to disagree with this.  I am also hoping OJH adds another dimension to the O with 2 TE sets.

    I have a feeling the passing game is going to be different this year. The addition of QB coach Joe Brady who is supposedly very good at route concepts is one reason. Then the talk of 2 TE sets.  Then the addition of a RB who's specialty is receiving out of the backfield. Then there is a long time coach like Kromer who will have a good deal of input when it comes to designing plays. Everyone is so focused on Ken Dorsey that they forget that the supporting staff will be in Dorsey's ear as well. There are going to be some wrinkles that we haven't seen.

    It's quite possible Gabe Davis has a break out year, but so could Dawson Knox. Some of the things the coaches come up with outside of what the offense all ready does well, that's just added gravy. There's no way Dorsey is going to just retool the whole offense, but there will be some experimenting.

    There have been some nice pieces added in the offense as far as players go. It's going to be an interesting year. The offense was ultra productive last year and the goal is to keep moving forward. I think between the new players and coaches, we're going to some good things. Rookies will get there chances, but the Bill's will lean on their bread and butter first.

    One could say Knox broke out last year, especially considering all of the mouths to feed on that offense.

    So a buddy and myself have been kicking around the idea of renting a house in Buffalo for the season, I work remotely and he's a traveling doctor. I'm usually in Buffalo a few times per year for games, we're renting from August to February.

    I was hoping I could get some suggestions on things to check out in the area, sightseeing, things going on, etc, between August and February, I know after November December it becomes a lot less likely to do as much outdoors, but wanted to hear some local feedback. I've done Niagara, Letchworth, and many of the local Buffalo parks, but was hoping to hear and visit some things I haven't heard much or anything about. Any suggestions are much appreciated! Go Bills! 🙏

    We have a house already there and have season tickets, looking for suggestions of things to check out outside of those things.. including food recs. I haven't tried Bar Bill but have had Duff's, the mac and cheese place near Batavia, love all types of food so.

    Awesome plan!

    What area is your house in?  Hopefully walking distance to a few bars...

    Biking is a good recommendation.  We do a bike-brewery ride several times per year in the fall--great time to ride. There are a lot of really good rides in the area, my favorite (outside of the brewery rides) is the ride along Niagara river up to North Tonawanda.

    Check for all of the festivals too.  Here's a link to many, but not all.

    https://stepoutbuffalo.com/festivals/  (Chicken wing festival is first weekend in Sept.)

    BuffaloRising website is a good source for all things Buffalo:  https://www.buffalorising.com/

    Cheers,
