No,  I guess you will have explain to me how Beasley has not been more productive than Crowder in 3 of the last 4 seasons?

He's literally had more catches and yards receiving than Crowder in 3 of the last 4 seasons.   And obviously the last two.

Just how far back do you want to go back to give the oft-injured Crowder credit for still being the same player he was?

1 season was fair.   2 seasons was decisive.

This is such a poor comparison, focusing on yards only as if the team's offense and qb don't matter.

In 2019, Crowder had more yards than Beasley and was the leading receiver on a team that was dead last in offensive ranking.

In 2020, While Beasley had a career year on the #2 O with Diggs as the #1 WR, Crowder was once again the leading receiver on a team ranked dead last in O with no true #1 WR.

Certainly his durability is questionable relative to Beasley, but statistically there is very little difference between the two.

Beasley has been more productive than Crowder in 3 of the last 4 seasons..........in the NFL it's about what you've done lately.    Crowder got a cheap deal because he's  declined the last 2 seasons.

They didn't replace Sanders..........Davis was already there..........the question is can Davis stay healthy for a season,  he has been limited for stretches by foot injuries his first two seasons.........and he also is an anti-vaxer and missed the Bills biggest regular season game last season due to Covid.........Covid will still sideline players this season.

Last season at this time Daryl Williams was coming off a tremendous season where he was a top 5 starting RT in the NFL.    He shut down TJ Watt in their matchup in 2020.    Feliciano was seen as a solid starter/tone setter and Boettger had been good as a reserve in 2020.   Bates was their cherished backup at center.  Ford hadn't totally fallen off of a cliff like he did in 2021.    On paper they looked pretty good,   it's not a notably better OL in that regard than the one that ended up as the league worst in combined sacks and pressures allowed in 2021.    They could end up being a lot better but signing a swing tackle who gave up the most sacks in the league(Quessenberry, 11) didn't really change that dynamic much.

You're comparing very different Os and QBs with Crowder and Beasley over their past 3-4 years and assigning the "decline" to Crowder vs the Jets' O as a whole--they ranked at the bottom in 2 of the last 3 years.  If anything, the stats suggest Crowder's stats will be even better playing with Allen and the Bills.

While Davis was here, it's clear that he will upgrade the #2 position with Sanders gone.  Davis and Diggs will be > Sanders and Diggs from last year.  As for covid, having the vaccine does not prevent you from getting it, so that's not really a meaningful argument for this year...

As I stated in (..) outside of the O-line, the O is better than last year, so I am not disagreeing with you there.

They’ve developed young talent. It’s not a hope. Davis and Knox deserve the extra targets they’re going to get. Both players could be in line for major contracts after the year, a reason why they didn’t add high cap on offense. The talent on offense is very good. Knox and Davis have earned more targets and will get them. We’re talking 50 or so more targets coming their way. I can see both over 100 targets. They’re are banking on Davis. If you believe Davis can be a true WR2 then our offensive weapons are strong. If you don’t believe in Davis then we could be in trouble if Diggs goes down.

Crowder is a better overall WR coming to Buffalo than Beasley was coming to Buffalo. I’m also very high on the potential of McKenzie. He’s also earned more targets.

The biggest problem I see on offense is the reliability factor. Crowder likely to miss games.

Shakir is basically where Davis was as a rookie entering camp.

Yeah, that Beasley - Crowder comparison was definitely cherry picked using last year's numbers only.  Crowder's career numbers are better than Beasley's.

As for Sanders-Davis, they replaced a declining talent with a rising star.

The (non O-line) offensive talent is better this year than last year, and the depth is improved.

Kind of an odd thread considering Phillips and Teller aren't on the Bills anymore but they're all good contributors.

If you read the linked article from the OP it's about PFF re-grading the 2018 draft.  It starts out by saying they would've given it an A+ for Josh Allen alone. Since it's about re-grading that draft, of course you look at all players drafted, regardless of where they are now.

I know, I just meant that one game is a pretty small sample size. I've read elsewhere that Bates wasn't playing quite so awesome in other appearances.

I don't if this shows for everyone, but there is a warning for the video about sensitive content.  I wonder if it's directed at Pats' fans...? hehehe

5 sacks from a second defensive end is fine. Von will get more than 5 sacks so long as he stays healthy.

Yeah, they don't need big numbers with their rotation.

I think they'll have at least 2 other DEs with 5-7 sacks, excluding Von (8-9), and maybe 3 DTs.  They could be a lot like Minnesota last year, no one with double-digit sacks, but second in the league overall.

Whether that degree of effort/investment is worthwhile at the expense of offensive investment is questionable.

Do you mean O-line, skill players, or just in general?

To this untrained eye, it looks as if they've diversified what the O is capable of offering each week by strengthening the passing attack in the backfield and TE positions, adding Cook and Howard.  WR has a slight difference in the strengths that Crowder and Beasley offer, but, other than that, it's kind of a wash (possibly better with Davis getting more snaps?).  No real upgrades/changes at OL, so wondering if that's what you mean?

Everyone knew but did they know that Elam was the only guy left Beane had a first rd grade on?  Either way, it’s over.  McB got the corner they wanted….and he doesn’t have sub 30 inch arms.

Of course not, but that's what drove him to make the move--when need matches up with BPA (as he also said in his presser).

Oh I guess I could live with that Breece Hall Please guy but its unlikely he will fall down to Buffalo

The way R1 went, the odds are 50-50, especially if a handful of QBs go before 57.    There is a lot of talent left on the D side of the ball, so I think the Bills will have a choice of at least one of Hall/Walker, a couple WRs, and the top TE prospect.

    Immediately after the draft-

    - I was upset that they passed on 3 corners I had rated higher than him.

    - I didn’t understand why they drafted a corner that excels in press man.

    - I didn’t understand why they drafted the worst tackling corner of the 3 available.

    - I HATED the fact that they traded our best trade up chip to move up several spots in rd 2-3 so we can move ahead of one team in rd 1…..while there were better corners available.

    Slept, woke up-  new rationale

    -  Elam has the measurable they covet and whether or not I had him as the best corner available, Elam was the last 1st rd talent available on their board.  McB > Me

    - I’m happy that we drafted a corner than excels in man.  Levi had a solid season but his inability to run with the faster WRs limited our play calling and his lack of speed eventually led to our season ending.   I’ve been hoping that they would switch things up more often and play more man.  I think this will lead to exactly that.  He’s very good in coverage but susceptible to getting beat deep…. something that McDs defense are usually not susceptible to.  Our safeties will help him over the top.

    - still not a fan of his tackling, but he’s physically strong and our coaches will coach him up.  He’ll get better.  We have the proper support system for him.

    - still mad that they traded the pick because I don’t think Dallas would’ve taken him….. but they got their guy.  He was obviously their only guy or they wouldn’t have traded up for him.  I’m glad they got their guy.  Now he’s my guy too!

    LETS GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

As Beane said in his presser, in addition to the last R1 talent on their board, it was the possibility of someone jumping in front of them--everyone knew the Bills needed a CB.

  11. This is going to be a much more interesting round for the Bills. Filled their biggest and most obvious hole in R1, so there are multiple possibilities here.  If 2-3 QBs go in the next 24 picks, there will be some very good players available (there will be anyway).  I think there will be another run on the tier-2 WRs and CBs, so it's quite possible the top RBs and TEs are there.  Then there are LBs and Safeties.  I think the only thing that is certain is there will be a lot of teeth gnashing on TBD after the pick...
