DT DaQuan Jones to Buffalo, $3.58M cap this year
Augie replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
That will cost you three Hail Murrays, watched consecutively. -
Not at all. He said it was a certainty, then he said it was a possibility. It was never a certainty, but it was always a possibility. That is true with every FA. We all knew it was possible. The process has to play out, then we know. I wish him well, especially against AFC teams!

Poyer and Hyde didn’t seem exciting at the time to most. I love this kind of signing more than a Clowney deal. I agree, build the lines, make everyone else better. -
Bills sign DT Tim Settle, formally of Washington Commanders.
Augie replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yep, I love this kind of signing. I don’t need Clowney or Ray Lewis, names people know and gush over. I prefer guys like Poyer and Hyde who I knew little or nothing about. They came in, fit what we needed and gave us quality value. -

Wreck a knee and that costs you one season, and part of another to get whole physically and mentally. I hope he puts it together and surges forward this year. A lot to play out between now and week one. -
No, we got a different celebrity, Bozo the Clown!

It’s a worse collapse than either, but the stakes were not as high. You have to weight both of those factors. A missed 47 yard FG is not shocking, it happens all the time. But if it’s at the end of a Super Bowl, the anguish factor goes up substantially. Losing a game like that with 13 seconds left is MUCH harder to even imagine, but it wasn’t even the AFCCG (though it felt like it should have been).

….or we are competing for playoff seeding. Which is almost certainly the case. Maybe we can get Fitzy to be his backup? That would take care of the problem!

All part of the game……

That sounds familiar. We moved into a new house (for us, 23 years old) on 12/15 and had a new washer/dryer delivered from Home Depot. The guys plugged it in and said they both had to run a cycle before we could use them. He hit the start buttons and left, the wife went up to her office and I walked the dogs. When I get back there was a FLOOD from the dining room thru the butler pantry (with adjacent laundry room) to the kitchen. The guys turned on the washing machine, but never put the hose in the drain! I fumbled around and figured out how to turn the washing machine off. The wife is on a national call with senior management, and I don’t even know where the towels are in the new house. I find a box with towels and clean up the mess. The wife finishes her call and gets on the phone with Home Depot. They send a plumber by who asks if I took pictures. NO, I was too busy cleaning it up! He felt the wet pad of the rolled up dining room rug, takes his own pictures and leaves. HD starts a claim for us, but weeks go by before they send out an adjuster. He comes and looks around, confirms that the boards of the wood floor have indeed cupped and the finish is off. We had a wood floor guy come and get a $4k+ estimate to refinish 1,058 SF of wood floors on that level. Fast forward, it is now MARCH, and we are still fighting with them. Last week we forwarded email from the floor guy confirming the exact square footage, and again we are back to waiting. They keep saying it is moving forward, but, back to my original point…….NOTHING HAPPENS FAST. Good luck!

Breaking: Tom Brady will play this year with Tampa
Augie replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
I won’t judge anyone on how they live their lives and manage their careers. I don’t want others questioning why I left banking for real estate, for example. Why is that anyone else’s business? Simply, it’s not. It made me happier. Brady can do what he wants. I hope his family is good with it, but that is between them, and none of my business. I don’t get why other people think they should have some say in this. You live your life, let him live his. -

It’s never too late, because the price never stops going up. -

I’d like to see Diggs get a new deal before the price goes up. -
I’ve seen him on several sports talk shows, and he seems very determined and genuinely contrite. I have no idea where he actually stands emotionally and in his recovery, but as they say - fake it ‘till you make it. Unfortunately, we have too much experience in this field. I can tell you it is possible to turn it around and be the “real you” again. I also know that there is always the risk of falling back into the wrong behaviors. Best wishes to you in achieving all your goals and having the best life possible.

Sorry I can’t be of any real help, but I can say don’t expect anything fast. My college buddy has a problem child back living with them. (My goddaughter, yay.) She’s not allowed to smoke in the house, so she goes out into the garage to smoke. She also drinks. A LOT. On September 7 of last year they woke up at 2:00 AM to find that the house was burning to the ground. Nobody was hurt, so that’s the important part. Now, about the insurance….it took about 5 months to get things worked out and get any money. Building a new house expected to be done next September. Out of their house for a year. We had trees fall on our house during a traopical storm in Florida. It crushed the tile on one slope of the house. State Farm “generously” wrote a check to replace that slope of the house for about $6k. Of course, they no longer made that tile any more, so it was upon us to stroke the check for the other $24k. That’s not what I think of as insurance. We moved to Cincinnati Insurance and have never used State Farm again. When we presented them with the coverage Cincinnati Insurance was quoting they responded with something like “I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t do that.” Hope it’s not too big of a deal, and good luck!

I feel like I’m setting myself up for being very interested. I’m taking nothing for granted.

Bills interested in signing Rob Gronkowski, per Tim Graham
Augie replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m not arguing he’s “better”, just saying I love Knox, and Gronk is still right there at his age. Brady was kinda good, he knew where to go with the ball. We NEED another NFL quality TE. Gronk MIGHT be that guy. I’ll trust our FO to figure that out. . -

Augie replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m not saying do it, cost matters. But he’s played more games (barely) than Knox (who I love) the last 2 years. Gronk had more catches, yards and YPC (55/802/14.6) than Knox (49/587/12) last year. Mostly by a wide margin. And he’s a good blocker. It’s a dangerous game and guys get hurt. I’d love to see him get one more ring with his home town team. . -
Apparently no draft party for STH this year (and not because of COVID)
Augie replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
As someone who left WNY in 1977, I have no idea what this entails. Can someone describe this draft day party? How many attend? Where is it held? Is it free food and drink? Do they give stuff away? I’m not sure if I should be upset without knowing more about what you are missing. I do get that it’s a long time until the Bills first comes up, and I hope it stays that way! -
I sincerely wish I could help you in your new field, but I will promise you this: Sometimes something “bad” happens, and it turns out to be a blessing. I spent about 20 years in banking. It was a fine job, but the bank I was last with eliminated a layer of management. I saw it coming and bought into a client’s existing business. That resulted in the happiest working years of my life. I’m retired now in another state, and I still dream about it. I LOVED what I did, and I learned the difference between a “job” and getting paid for a passion. When things looked dark, the best days were ahead. Good luck to you going forward.

If he’s strictly a punter, and we do the math, if he were to punt twice a game on average for 17 games, with the time it takes him to get it off this is barely minimum wage.

The most stupid things you did in your youth would be quite a thread! Nobody would admit to the best material, I’m afraid. How we made it this far is mystifying.
