Fermi Paradox aside (I’m not going down that rabbit hole), nobody can KNOW for sure one way or the other. THAT is my main point. To say you are certain, due to your own version of “the math” or anything else is just indefensible posturing. It is nothing more than one more opinion.

As long as Mississippi is on the agenda, I used to review real estate appraisal reports from Mississippi and Alabama. It is a different world down there! GUYS WOULD WRITE PAGES AND PAGES OF HOT GARBAGE IN ALL CAPS WITHOUT BOTHERING WITH PARAGRAPHS AND VERY LITTLE PUNCTUATION. THEY WOULD TELL ME THEY WERE TAUGHT TO WORK FOR SPEED I SUGGESTED THEY TAKE SOME PRIDE IN THEIR WORK AND TRY TO THROW A LITTLE QUALITY IN WITH THEIR SPEED THEY DIDN’T LIKE THAT ONE LITTLE BIT SO WE HAD A BIT OF A STAND-OFF FOR MONTHS I WOULD FIND EVERY NITPICKY LITTLE THING AND MAKE HIM FIX IT TIME AFTER TIME. HE WAS TWO STUBBORN AND STUPID TO CHANGE HIS WAYS BUT I THINK I EVENTUALLY STARTED TO WEAR HIM DOWN. HE COULDN’T GET PAID UNTIL I HAD A REPORT THAT WAS ACCEPTABLE NOW IMAGINE IF THIS WENT ON FOR THREE MORE PAGES AND YOU WERE TRYING TO MAKE SENSE OF IT ITS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE One guy actually said to me “come on, don’t I get a break? I’m in Tupelo MS! What do you want from me?” Parts of MS and AL do not have MLS, and they are non-disclosure states, meaning no information of value (transfer amounts, dates, etc.) were available in public records. They relied upon uncle JimBob the only real estate agent in 5 counties for information, which is far from cool in the appraisal world, but it was all there was. I found myself wondering if Bangladesh ran better than Mississippi. Sorry, but that little bit of venting helped. 😋 I don’t think he’s even been charged yet, and maybe he never will be. The former Gov was the one who failed to play by the rules, and I’m pretty sure this isn’t an isolated case of bad deeds. .

That knowledge may come from an alleged highway rest area rendezvous between Favre and @Gugny. It’s the stuff of legend down thar in Mississippi. Favre certainly comes off looking bad, but I hope the Governor gets actual jail time. (I know, call me a dreamer!) Anybody can ask for something. It’s the politicians JOB to say no to crap like this and do the right thing. I don’t know what to make of Favre here without more info……..and maybe a law degree.

I remember a few years ago people complaining that the TBN links were there, but you had to pay to read them. This happened because….people saw an opportunity to complain. You know how we hate missed opportunities! 😋 My college hoops board has a totally voluntary fee of $12.50/year to be a “supporting member”. I’s peanuts to any one person, and a great investment. It’s well worth the tiny investment to keep things running smoothly. .

Please point out the posts that say this. Take your time, because I don’t recall seeing any. I’m not perfectly content making the playoffs. I want to win a Super Bowl as much as anybody. BUT, I’d rather win 14 games and not win the SB than win 7 and not be in the playoffs. That seems pretty simple to me. I enjoy the season, one win at a time. .

How many hours is the internet open every day? Put me down for that much! My iPad will tell you I’m good for about 8 hours a day of screen time. That’s a FULL DAY! The truth is I have certain tabs up and they stay up all day long. I come back and check in on a regular basis, but I’m not active nearly that much…..but it’s still too much. Gotta go now! Trying to cut back! You sound like you have friends, and a life and stuff. I am unburdened by such issues. 😋

WAIT! Your actual math doesn’t seem to say the same thing as “generic, undisclosed math”. How could that be??? Did that say the Drake formulas dates back to 1961? That’s over 60 years ago, which is enough time to allow for all kinds of new info. New starting points. The recent and frequent discovery of habitable planets in the Goldilocks strike zone has astonished scientists. What will the next generation of telescopes uncover? The one thing I know for sure is how little we know. Unlike some small minded people who think we already have all the knowledge we will ever have. Wait until we figure out if wormholes are real, and if they could be used by a far more advanced civilization. I’d guess that there is all kinds of mind blowing stuff we can’t even imagine, much less explain!

Of course we want to see the Bills win, but my enjoyment of them over my lifetime is far greater than any one game, or season. BTW - Thank you for using paragraphs. Sleep well, my friend.

Thank you for reinforcing the thread title! 😋 Being a Super Bowl favorite again next year may mean the world is not ending. Every team has issues, including the winner tomorrow.

First, life does not come with guarantees. And second, if that is what you need to go to your grave happy, then I’ll pray for you. As I just pointed out, what happened decades ago does NOT matter. We have new owners, and a different level of professionalism. A better chance. But still just a chance. Doesn’t EVERY fan base think they deserve more? MORE what? Can we ALL have more? There is only so much “more” to go around, and they all want it.

I apologize for deleting what you had above but I wanted this to stand out for a reason. I get the years of disappointment as hard as any. I was there for the hardest of times. Early in my marriage in the mid 80’s my young bride asked “WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO YOURSELF?” 😂 But it’s not decades ago. We have new owners (for whom I pray), a new front office, a real HC and a commitment and expectation of winning football. I’m from the early days of Bills football, but these are new days. As Beane has said numerous times, they want to build for consistent winning football. I think they have a shot as good as almost any.

I believe “critical dialogue” is being used loosely. THAT may be where we differ. It’s a spectrum, for better, or for worse.

It only takes the toll we allow it to take. Enjoy the ride. Soak in the great plays, the nice wins. There are far more wins than losses these days. And we have a team of “Good Ass Guys!” 😂 (JJ Watt reference there.) Only one team walks away happy. That’s more than a cliche, that’s the truth. What then? I can live with being a top 5 team and having a shot every year. One year, it will be our turn. Do I get two weeks notice?

Too much extremism can be a bad thing. I’m sure of that.

There are many, many different possible sources of revenue, of which real estate taxes is just one. We lived in Florida for many years where the design was to tax tourists and part time residents as much as possible to relieve the burden on full time residents. They do that with gas taxes, sales tax, bed tax on hotels and short term rentals, etc. They also reduce the impact of real estate taxes by allowing you to homestead the residence of “full time” residents (6 months and a day minimum) so your property taxes can only go up 2-3% annually so you don’t get taxed out of your home. A little quick math tells me a moderate priced player ($3 mil/year) will pay about $180k in GA state taxes. The property taxes on a multimillion dollar house will be just a very small fraction of that.
