  1. Hey Bills fans - just wanted to wish you good luck on the season. I can't believe Gameday is finally here. My Browns are taking on the Jets in New York. We will try to show them to a defeat for you guys! It feels odd to not play you guys thus year, but I guess the good news for you is because you were no longer in last place and so you don't play the last place teams. Moving up in the world! Hopefully we can do the same. Because of this board I have become so much more knowledgeable. As always, don't forget to take care of Sammy for us!! Haha.
  2. Good to hear! He had a towel over his head last night on the cart... always fear the worst when I see that. I think he's a good player.
  3. Gilbert is just not progressing at all and looks like a bust at this early juncture. I hate to call guys busts so early (especially CBs) but his issues should have been correctable by now. Unfortunately he has a poor attitude and work ethic, and that's not fixable really and just so disappointing. They could have had Sammy Watkins, which would have transformed their whole offense. Gilbert and a backup center in return makes me sick. I think Gilbert is now 4th on the CB depth chart with a UDFA (KaWaun Williams) and Pierre Desir ahead of him. Something that will make you all encouraged is he did get a pick-6 off Andrew Luck last year. Yes it was the TE. He was winning his battles on every play. Tough matchup for a safety. Also I really am not trying to criticize Taylor. Just that I think the coaches will try to tell him to stay in the pocket and go through progressions. He certainly did OK in the pocket especially with the blitz-heavy D. But I think there is room for improvement - if a QB like Roethlisberger is in there he hits that open guy for a huge play. I know that it comes with experience...
  4. Tramon Williams was the only starting CB in Rochester. Whitner the only starting safety. I think the secondary will be OK. There were times Taylor had guys open and started running. I can't remember which drives or anything but it was there. He did have huge DL coming at him and he isn't very tall so maybe he couldn't see? I just thought he left some potential big plays on the field. The throw to the endzone should have been caught though, that was nice.
  5. Thanks for the well wishes for the Browns. It is hard to watch them in the preseason because the reality is they probably won't be very good with their lack of elite talent on the offense and have a tough schedule, but you never know! McCown throwing into triple coverage, holds onto the ball too long, and makes poor decisions. He runs around and then falls down instead of just taking a sack and protecting the ball which increases the possibility of fumbling. All their WRs are short too unless they can get Pryor healthy. Cameron Erving is a wasted pick so far. Backup center with a 1st rd pick and guard isn't his best position. I'm close to wanting Manziel to just start and see what happens; I don't see this team going anywhere with McCown. Especially in the AFC North which I think is still the best division in the league at this point.
  6. Johnny took some steps. He looked OK in the preseason last year too and then everything fell apart. If the Browns are 1-4 with McCown or something, I can see Pettine making a switch if Manziel shows he knows the playbook and is progressing in practice. So much has to do with his dedication to the team and the film room.
  7. Hey Bills fans! I was at the game last night at First Energy (you all should have made the short trek from Buffalo, plenty of good seats were left!) I watched your team quite a bit. Thought I would share some thoughts. 1. Your #2 (3?) QB is better than our #1. Manuel > McCown all day. I wouldn't mind the Browns trying to swing a trade for him since you have two other QBs ahead of him. I've always thought he was pretty good, and would like to have another developmental QB besides Manziel. He is much further along and his arm is fantastic. 2. Your defense is crazy fast, and furious. Pettine had cautioned us last week that there was a steep drop-off from the #1 D to the second team D and to take that into account when watching Manziel, but I didn't see a big difference in the 2nd half other than the safeties. 3. Tyrod Taylor is also a step ahead of everyone in terms of his speed. I was kind of surprised by his size though. He looked smaller than I expected. Also, he is going to have a rough go of it in the film room today. A few times he had guys open and didn't see them or didn't want to throw it, not sure which. 85 and 88 were open a ton, it seemed. Not sure if he is seeing the whole field (don't shoot the messenger, it's just an observation). He did make some nice throws and his mobility reminds me of Russell Wilson. 4. The Browns tried to block Jerry Hughes with a running back. You would think they would have learned but noooo. 5. I think Ryan and Pettine must have decided to blitz each other's QBs the whole game, to see how the QBs would handle it and/or to be able to judge the 1:1 matchups that would result with the WQRs and DBs. Our WRs failed miserably with that. I had such high hopes for Mayle. 6. Your running backs, who I know were all just signed off the street, didn't have a clue in pass protection. So take some of the issues your QBs had with pressure with a grain of salt. I am sure your real RBs can pick up a blitz. 7. I am glad we do not play you in the regular season this year!
  8. We play the Jets week 1. I don't know if this is good or bad. Fitzpatrick was benched by the time we played Houston last year.
  9. If you look up "overexposed" in the dictionary there is a collage pic of OBJ and JJ Watt.
  10. That's right... I thought it was Fred Jackson but remembered someone else too. Aaron Williams was the one who got the 15 yard penalty on the first play of the game.
  11. Who was the guy who called out Whitner the week before our game last year? Or was it more than one guy? I am thinking Donte will try to lay some hits next week.
  12. I'm excited for the joint scrimmages next week. Take it easy on our QBs this time please! I wonder what kind of reception Whitner will get
  13. Aw man, you guys are on plan Z already? Give them a few days. But regarding Hoyer - why would you want that mess? On the field and in the locker room, he's a train wreck. He blabbed to the local and national media about all kinds of internal stuff with the browns, including the texts that got Farmer suspended. He also wanted way more money than he is worth. Very inaccurate. I think he is in the best possible situation for him though, because he knows O'Brien's offense. He can't be trusted. And the players hated him.
  14. Are you his agent or something - sending me his highlight film? Haha. If you look back at the post I was responding to, it was one which suggested he was worth a 2nd or 3rd round pick. I didn't say he was terrible, or that he didn't have any potential. I said he didn't go from 6th round value to 2nd/3rd round value based on his production since he was drafted. I did watch him play, I don't need to watch his cherry picked highlights. He looked like an injury prone rookie. Certainly not enough yet to fetch a 2nd or 3rd round pick in a trade. If the Titans evaluated him the way you did, I imagine they would have accepted the fortune of players and picks Chip Kelly was willing to give up for Mariota and stuck with Mettenberger. They didn't. If the Browns, Jets, Bills or any other team that needs a QB evaluated him the way you did, they would have traded for him. They haven't. Now we will see if he ever plays again sitting behind the Duck.
  15. Because he sucks. He cannot read defenses (or a watch) and if he made any kind of jump I presume it is because he couldn't go any lower. He is terrible. He has a decent game here and there to get people's hopes up but he isn't NFL starter caliber to this point in his career, IMO. Watching him against any good defense is pure pain. That list of stack ranked QBs -- here is what I would say for bottom 6 32. Geno 31. Bortles 30. McCown 29. Carr 28. Hoyer 27. Cassel/Manuel
  16. Really? He was drafted in the 6th, has character issues, had a serious injury, went 0-6 and then got hurt again. Any QB that plays a few games will eventually "flash at times." What am I missing? A 2nd-3rd round pick? Any team could have had him for a 5th a year ago, he goes winless when given a chance and is injury prone and all of a sudden his stock goes up?
  17. From a female perspective I think she should be held accountable for her actions just as he was. His reaction was unjustifiable and he was dealt with appropriately by the school IMO, and any charges forthcoming could hold further punishment. But I spent my 20s in bars where you get shoved around and there is very little space to be claimed. If she doesn't like it, she should stay out of those kinds of bars. I never felt the need to act like this girl when in that situation and she should face appropriate consequences as well. The argument I keep seeing is that if anyone says she should be held accountable too that somehow that means that person also feels she is "to blame" for the QB hitting her or that he was somehow justified. In reality, I haven't seen anyone say that, but rather that her actions were independently inappropriate. Some of the nastiest fights I have seen in bars have been between drunk girls. I don't care how big they are, they can get vicious. Was he scared for his life? I doubt it, but she did appear to try to go after him so of course he should have walked away but he didn't, and his natural reaction was to reciprocate. He's paying the price.
  18. From an outside perspective, the Bills are probably pretty happy that teams will be able to focus on players not named Sammy Watkins. Will he see single coverage on the regular? I can't imagine any defense (even the amazing Belichik**) would be able to do that with success. I don't care who the QB is. It sounds like defenses will take your passing game lightly, let this be a reminder - Brian Hoyer won 7 games last year. He is not accurate and went undrafted, and had minimal weapons. Your receivers will make any QB look decent. Harvin played with Christian Ponder and lit it up, for chrissakes.
  19. He won't be playing anyway. Not in the team's plans. If he develops, cool. If not, he's on the bench unless someone offers to trade for him. The NFL is not a daycare.
  20. I didn't go to this one but I've been to some Kenny Chesney concerts in the Burgh. A shirtless guy in the summertime having a few beers and using a hamburger as a frisbee is not a big deal. That event is a flipping zoo, I cannot even begin to describe the "shenanigans" that would make this seem angelic in comparison. Also, if Deadspin is the one saying "take this with a grain of salt" and calling it "second-hand" odds are it didn't even happen. Usually they don't even qualify their BS stories they get from random people. Someone probably just took of a pic of Incognito and sent it to them and they wanted clicks.
  21. So does this mean Miami is a Super Bowl contender? Is their roster that much worse than Buffalo's?
  22. He's like the AFC East's version of Andy Dalton. But without the winning seasons and playoff berths.
