  1. Sadly I know some people who cover the team and Manziel also has a serious drug problem. The team has been aware of the alcoholism for awhile (last summer). Football is the last thing his family cares about right now. Hopefully he is healthy for training camp not because I am counting on him to be our QB, but because it means there is some hope for him to contribute at some point. That maybe, just maybe, the issues that led to his lack of focus are wrapped up in his drug/acohol problems. And could be "fixable." I never wanted the Browns to draft him because I felt there were better QBs in the draft. But they did, so I have hope left. I feel like a terrible person for being such a fan that I worry our QB situation rather than real life problems of a human being. I admittedly know nothing about the rehab process so my apologies in advance for sounding ignorant that things can be "fixed" if that is not reality. Brett Favre went to rehab and was able to recover, correct? Any other examples?
  2. You guys don't even need him. This reflects what most Browns fans think about the letter -- http://www.cleveland.com/budshaw/index.ssf/2015/01/cleveland_browns_josh_gordon_s.html
  3. They do, even the ones who aren't in the substance abuse program. Those who aren't in the program are still tested 2-3 times in the offseason but alcohol is not considered an banned substance if they haven't had prior issues like a DUI and had it put into their treatment plan.
  4. My lasting image of Hughes, as a Browns fan.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pd5DftzF9Q
  5. I don’t care if it was a sip of wine at church, its stupid. He has had what feels like a million chances now. His stupidity is a slap in everyone’s face, especially fans of the Browns who have to put up with moron after moron after moron. What would you give up to make millions of dollars and play football for a living? Because I know I would probably have no problem never drinking a glass of wine until after I retire if I'm not addicted. He has - what - 5-10 years to maximize his NFL career? He has the rest of his life to drink/smoke as much as he wants. The NFL deserves a lot of crap for a lot of different reasons but this isn’t one of them in my opinion. The rules are too strict? The rules are the rules. JG isn’t able to follow them for more than a month at a time. I'm a Browns fan and I don't want him back on my team, it’s obvious to many that he doesn’t give a crap about the team. Blaming the NFL for JG's suspension is actually enabling JG and probably further inhibiting his ability to accept the help being offered to him.
  6. Kicked out of Baylor. Suspended from the NFL. Now blaming ignorance of rules and upbringing? He must just be incredibly unlucky! How did all of these 23 year old (even younger!) NFL players from who had tough upbringings manage to not get suspended 3 !@#$ing times?! Or is it 4? I've lost count!
  7. I don't think he's an addict. He isn't some tragic example. He's right about that. He's just stupid. We always want some grandiose explanation for everything but sometimes it is just that simple. I talk to people who cover the team every day. This guy surrounds himself with enablers (who are all family members), he has been offered tons of help time after time by the team and the league, and he refuses to take it. I can't believe anyone takes him seriously at this point. He knows he can be tested at any time. He is tested about 12/month. He is not allowed to drink as part of his treatment program. He is not a victim.
  8. I would like Devin Smith, Justin Hardy and Nate Orchard for the Browns.
  9. This is no longer a joke, it is sad. But not in the way you think. It is sad because he is still taking up a GD roster spot. Cry me a river for this guy. The Browns and the NFL have done everything they can to surround him with support, rehab opportunities, second and third and fourth chances even when he wasn't performing on the field, running wrong routes, not fighting for the ball, and being generally lazy in practice. He doesn't want any of it. The only party accountable here is him. He has the metabolism of a pro athlete and tested positive for alcohol in a morning test of which he is subjected to at least 12/month. He knew the test could come. He obviously has a very alcohol-filled night before the test to still test positive. It is a specific part of his treatment plan because of his DUI that he can't drink if he wants to play football. He doesn't care about football. He's a POS and I can't wait until he is off my team. He can take his BFF #2 with him. Those two are inseparable.
  10. In my opinion, Greg Roman was without a doubt the best available offensive coordinator this year. Good job, Bills. I anticipate he will continue to get HC looks next year, which is why Kromer was brought in as OL coach for an in-house succession plan.
  11. For those who voted Mack - you do realize that you would have still had to give up next year's 1st round pick to get him, right? You would have - dare I say - "mortgaged the future" - for a linebacker when you already had a bunch of very good young starting linebackers. I'm lost.
  12. Sio Moore is hurt now for Oakland. He was another young LB having a pretty good year for them. It will be easier to game plan and run away from Mack this week. KC showed that last week when Moore was out.
  13. Mack is having a great rookie season and I wish the Browns had taken him. But how many flipping linebackers do ya'll need? I think Bradham is just as good and you have Kiko back next year. Mack would be fighting for playing time. If you had Kiko this year, that Gronk matchup would be much easier. Sucks.
  14. Their 2015 recruiting class is falling apart. Decommits everywhere. And he runs such a different system than Hoke, it is going to take awhile and he knows that. He can make as much in the NFL and I think he stays. Recruiting just never stops in college. He seems like he wants everything right now. He may not even be able to win the Big 10 for 2-3 years.
  15. I don't want the Browns to go after him either. Let some other desperate franchise give in to QB supply/demand. He is 31, has a huge contract, and is NOT GOOD.
  16. I can't believe there are Bills fans who want to fire the coach. Then again, there are lot of Browns fans who want Pettine fired too. But our team has fallen apart. Yours seems to getting better each week. I think a lot of offenses are struggling at this point of the season because the DCs have so much film built up.
  17. the committee did take that into consideration. If they didn't, OSU would have been ranked higher than 4. Why didn't it knock them out? OSU lost its starting Heisman candidate QB 10 days before the season. That was the 2nd game for a freshman who had not taken a snap since his jr yr of HS as he was hurt his sr yr. They had 4 new starters on the OL. The team is completely different now. Why decide who who should make the playoff, being played in January, based on how a team looked 4 months before that? You can hate it if you want, but it is the process of human beings on ther committee who actually - get this - watch the games - making the decisions instead of computers that you seem caught up in.
  18. Or - Ohio State has elite coaches and players who play their best in big games and are peaking at the right time. Which you seem unwilling to admit.
  19. That line is huge... tempting! 7-5 team and a 9-3 team with a 10 pt spread? You both lost to NE, but you played them better. Manning is one of my favorite players but he can't throw deep anymore. They won't run on you. He will be on his back a lot. If you can run on them, you have a great chance.
  20. Barnidge was playing really well. As was Austin. Hopefully, Cameron can come back this week.
