  1. WOW! You think the Brownies are making the playoffs? Nice! No Bills though?
  2. I am glad to know that I am not the only "outlier"! Everyone on this board seems so cool to accept fans of other teams as long as they are respectful. I have a feeling I will "root" for the Bills as well when it doesn't affect the Browns. I admire the Cowboys for their dynasty in the 90s. And they always seem to be contending for the playoffs since they found Romo. Good luck to everyone's teams in the draft!
  3. I will hope and pray that Johnny Football works out if the Browns draft him, but I would think there is a higher percentage of EJ Manuel having a good year this year than Johnny. I don't see why the Bills would be interested in drafting him unless he falls really far and ends up being a value pick in a later round. Which I doubt will happen due to the hype.
  4. Since you said you live in Cbus I was wondering if you follow any coverage of the Browns... JG has a similar setup, maybe you are referring to him as one that is not publically talked about. If he were to take one misstep, gone for a year. Hence the babysitter. He has been discussed as trade bait, or as someone they won't sign long-term, which is sad as he is the best offensive weapon we've had in awhile.
  5. Haslam's situation is not good for the Browns, either. The Bills are indeed lucky to have had such stability and class in their organization.
  6. I heard on the radio this morning (Chris Mortenson on ESPN radio) that he thinks there is a real chance the Rams draft Johnny Football. It amazes me that two knowledgeable analysts are so far apart on him. I think this makes it a risky pick for the team like the Browns at #4 overall who can not afford another bust at QB. But if he is rated as a 3rd rd pick by Ron Jaworski, maybe he could be like another 3rd rd pick, Russell Wilson?!
  7. I saw this thread and wanted to add that the Browns seem to like Roby too. I agree with everything YoloinOhio said about him. I wonder if he will one of those players who thrives with an NFL defense vs. how he was used at OSU. I do know the Chargers are very interested too. He would be an immediate improvement to their secondary.
  8. I just remembered a few years ago the Bills were really good, maybe 5-1, when they came into Cleveland and won.. CJ Spiller did whatever he wanted against the Browns that day, I didn't follow them after that game, I think I assumed they made the playoffs that year. As a Browns fan, sometimes I tune out come playoff time if I don't have anything invested and I can't stand watching the Ravens, Steelers or Bengals who always seem to be in it. The Draft Day movie is coming up. We have had a few movies filmed here because I think the production costs are cheap. I am all for hiring Kevin Costner as GM if he gets a QB in this movie. Something the Browns have not hit on since Bernie Kosar. That is a really long time. We have had a few decent QBs through the years, but obviously no franchise QBs who we drafted ourselves and built around. That is why this draft is so critical for the Browns. They have the picks to trade up and get both a QB and an elite talent like Mack or Watkins. I'd rather not take a QB at 4 and then wait until 26 for the next pick. I'd rather they trade up so they have two top 10 picks. While I know none of the QBs are considered top 10 talents in this draft, I fear that if they wait they will miss out on one of the top guys as other teams will snatch them up. Then they are taking a chance at the end of the 1st or top 2nd rd, and same thing will happen as last year when they missed out on EJ Manuel. But if they take one at 4, then they miss out on one of the elite talents in the draft when they were right there at the taking. If they didn't need a QB, this would be so much easier! Not to mention they ignored all their pro days. While I realize pro days aren't indicative of what a QB can really do and the private workouts are much more informative, why did every other team feel it valuable to go? Browns are acting like they have such a better evaluative model. But to not use every chance available to gain info on the QBs seems short sighted to me. Maybe the Browns will trade up with the Bills since they have the Pettine connection! Bills could take their TE or WR at 26?
  9. Heisman candidate Andre Williams, RB, Boston College@theMMQB: Andre Williams is wise beyond his yrs as he preps for life in NFL writes @JennyVrentas: http://wp.me/p3Dw81-5ho
  10. Dogness, are you sure you aren't a Browns fan with a name like that? Haha! I know, it is tough when your team has all of this cap space yet can't get anyone to sign! We went after DeSean Jackson (I guess they wanted to build the all-red-flag WR group) and my guess is that even if they threw way more money at him than the Redskins he wouldn't consider it because of having no QB and the just the overall reputation of the team. I think the only reason Donte Whitner came here was because he grew up here, and Dansby took the money at his age. It is going to be a long-term rebuild with a rookie QB coming in. I don't have a strong opinion on Johnny Football (is that allowed? haha) but most Browns fans are worried that whether he is good or bad he will hate it here and leave as a FA just like his best friend LeBron. Cleveland still isn't over that! Worst QB? I remember I kept seeing him in the Rookie of the Week voting? Worst QB was, hands down, Weeden. Many fans here really wanted EJ Manuel, and what made it worse was that he looked so good in the game on Thursday Night in Cleveland. I was there and, admittedly, I was so relieved when he didn't go back in the game after he went down. We all were holding our breath as it looked like he might be OK. Now, of course I didn't want him to really be hurt but I knew that was our only chance to win is if he didn't play. That was the only Bills game I saw in which he played, I am sure he must have had some rookie-like games. I also saw the Bengals game and Chiefs game with the backup QBs. They were on here. Your offense is really good.
  11. Wow, this is great! I feel more informed in 10 minutes than I have in 10 years on the Browns board where all they do is wallow. I appreciate that you are so open to fans of other teams. The Bills have always been a classy team. Did they not make the playoffs a few years ago? I guess they always seem to be in the thick of things, I didn't notice they hadn't been in. At least they are competitive every year! Browns are always the joke team who wins just enough games to NOT get the top pick (i.e. Andrew Luck) and then they miss out on the QB. They have not won a playoff game in 20 years and have not been there in 12! In fact, the "new" Browns have never won a playoff game. As far as the defense, I think the Browns defense last year was a bit overrated as it started out well but then crashed and burned under Horton. The issue is that the scheme seems to change every year with the coach and the GM changes as well has led to having personnel that doesn't fit. Pettine said yesterday that he compares Mack to Mario Williams. This is the kind of player I think we need in order for this D to be successful under Pettine because as all of you said the pass rush is key and then I would believe the secondary would benefit. i don't mind them moving on from D'Qwell Jackson although I liked him as a player. Dansby seems to be more of a pass rusher who can also stop the run. You mentioned Kiko Alonso. He is my favorite player in the NFL who doesn't wear a Browns uniform (or Chargers, I am also a fan of theirs because my cousin works for them, but would root for the Browns still if they played). Even thought Kiko took out our hometown boy Hoyer last season, he is incredibly fun to watch. I can only hope that we draft someone like that. Again, maybe Mack. Ryan Shazier is a player from Ohio State and he also could be another Kiko. I think that is the kind of player this team needs. The offense is kind of in shambles with no QB and only one WR. We have Mack who still hasn't signed his tag because he doesn't want to be here. He is set to make 10 mill under the transition tag. I don't think he is worth that much but so be it. We do need him if we are going to have a rookie QB. The rest of the OL was really bad at run blocking last year which had a domino effect. We could not run the ball at all after Richardson was traded. I would love to get a RB like CJ Spiller. Every time we play the Bills he is running all over the place. I think Kyle Shanahan would like to run the ball, at least he says this. Our running backs never seem to make any big plays. We signed Ben Tate but he was a backup, but would like to draft a fast guy. I can't wait for the schedule to come out. Thanks again for all of your help. I have to say the draft talk on this board is outstanding. The Browns brought in EJ Manuel last year for a visit. I wish they would have drafted him. I think they waited too long.
  12. Hello Bills fans. I hope it is OK for fans of other teams to visit the board. I found this board around the time the Browns hired the new HC and I was looking for some insight on Mike Pettine. I finally decided to create an account because I think this board has great football discussion. It is so much better than the Browns board which can obviously be kind of depressing, haha. Be nice with all your Browns jokes! It is kind of hard to root for them these days but I have lived here for 20 years and got sucked in anyway! We are always waiting for next year, that is our motto! I was wondering if anyone had time to provide information on Pettine. The offseason breeds both cautious optimism and familiar fear around here. He just seems very inexperienced and we are really worried that his calling card, good defense, won't carry over to the Browns because we don't have near the talent on the DL that the Bills do. We only have a couple real playmakers on the entire D (Dansby who they just signed and Haden). I am really hoping they draft Kahlil Mack who I am sure you guys also know all about. But if they do that, then not sure what they do at QB as the top ones will be gone by there next pick unless they trade up. The QB situation here has been so dire. Wish we had taken one last year. P.S. Sympathies on the recent loss of your owner. I admit I did not know much about Mr. Wilson before I saw a piece on him on ESPN after his death. What an amazing life story and man. Browns seem to switch ownership like they do socks. I am planning on going to the game in Buffalo this year! When the time gets nearer I'll ask about the best section to sit in. We will wear neutral colors, haha!
