Well let’s just say I’ve got a few years on you. And I’m enjoying these Bills seasons after the two decade drought. For me it’s more like another multi-year rebuild would just cause me to lose interest. Maybe forever. If you stay really good and are always winning your division or coming close, that Saints/Brees or Colts/Manning or Giants/Manning or Packers/Rodgers or Steelers/Ben year will come, and you will get that SB parade you’ve been waiting for all your life.

I’m not sure “the process” is to continually improve the team. The team is already pretty damn good. Nobody improves over 3 or 4 loss seasons, other than making some moves aimed at getting over the playoff hump. “The process” is to build a team that remains competitive year after year. Not the Rams, throwing it all out there to try to win a SB in a 2-year window and then go straight back into a rebuild. Ideally, a new Pats. More realistically, another Chiefs or Packers. Even more down to earth, a new Panthers. McD and his mentors had that working great until his offensive AND defensive mainstays - Cam and Kuechly - both completely broke down at unusually young ages. I’ve asked it before: all other things being equal, would you give up a decade of playoff appearances for a 2 or 3 year run resulting in one SB win, followed by several really down years? I wouldn’t. I’m happy that the team I love to follow is poised to remain relevant and a SB competitor year after year after year. That SB win didn’t seem to have such a great impact on Rams fans after it was over. In fact, it didn’t even seem to create more Rams fans. They can have that model. I’ll take “the process” - the good with the bad.

Rihanna-A boring halftime performance
The Frankish Reich replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
Did they book Rihanna NOT knowing she is pregnant? I had no problem with the halftime show. Not really my thing, but my daughter loves her (tried to make her an indie girl and failed miserably), so it was what it was. But it wasn’t what she (or I) would’ve expected of a Rihanna performance. Nobody paid to see it, but if they had it would’ve been kind of false advertising. The kids love the dancing, the wardrobe changes, all that glitz. This was like Rihanna in an oversized red jumpsuit surround by Squid Game type unenergetic dancers. -
Agreed. After seeing what the Bengals middling pass rush did to us, I have to say the Eagles would have eaten our O line alive. And the weird thing is KC had the exact same dysfunctional O line a couple years ago and then completely fixed it in one off-season. Whereas we stand pat, or sub a Saffold for a Boettger.
-
The game is NOT fixed. But on close judgement calls, certain teams and certain QBs and other great players tend to get the benefit of the doubt. And sometimes that’s the difference.

He probably lost in some fantasy league. I suspect he’s ok with that.
-
Funny thing is I think Josh would love to have the chance to be in another one of these shootouts, win or lose. The way we went out was deflating. Philly? They can go home feeling great about this season.
-
I feel bad about myself because I laughed at that
-
But wouldn’t Philly “fans” have destroyed even more stuff I they’d won?
-
Yes. He could have. If he had beaten the Bengals and then beaten the Chiefs he probably would have.
-
Utterly deflating. I watch this thing for damn near 4 hours and the teams play to a stalemate. Could be a classic final minute to watch. Oh. Never mind. Defensive hold. Like the World Series Game 7 ending on a questionable balk call.
-
Olsen gets it right …. Why let this super Super Bowl be decided by a cheap defensive hold?
-
And here we go …
-
The guy watching at home (err, playing golf) should be watching and learning. Hurts plays under control, still makes the huge plays. He’s tied for a Super Bowl championship with 5 minutes to go. And he got there a helluva lot sooner.
-
Leslie Frazier vindicated! You need to score points to win in this NFL. Hold a good offense to 27 …
-
Allen is now the 4th best QB
-
Hurry it up a bit here Eagles! you may very well need 2 possessions. Acting like it’s the 1st quarter
-
What is this “blitz” thing KC just used? Someone send that clip to Leslie Frazier. It seems to be some kind of new innovation.
-
Other teams in recent memory that the Bills roster was worse than “other than QB”: - the Colts in 2018-20 - the Broncos in 2019-21 - the Browns in 2020 So if the question is “trade Allen for some mediocre team’s QB and who’s better now,” the answer is pretty obvious. But no one is trading Allen for Zach Wilson or Teddy Bridgewater. Nor was anyone trading LeBron for Danilo Gallinari.

I’ll tell you who this pronoun silliness helps: guys with gender-ambiguous names. I worked with one guy named Shannon. He was so sick of getting emails addressing him as Ms.” That he changed his sign-off to “Mr Shannon Z.” Which looked stupid. Now he can do the he/his/him thing to avoid that.

DeSantis For President in 2024?
The Frankish Reich replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Absolutely I should’ve been taught that in school, in addition to my extracurricular reading. Later on I ordered a Scholastic book (anyone remember those?) about Frederick Douglass, and that one also made a big impression on me. I don’t agree with the “ban woke curricula” thing just as much as I don’t agree with the “ban Hank Aaron’s autobiography because he writes out the N word when he says what fans were yelling at him. This ban stuff is crazy. So are some school boards. I’m glad I learned about the embarrassing stain on America’s rise alongside learning about the tremendous vision of our founding fathers. But I am one of a shrinking number who seem able to handle the good with the bad. -

As a white kid growing up in Buffalo who hit reading age a few years after MLK was assassinated, I learned about civil rights and life in the pre-civil rights South by reading biographies of sports stars. Hank Aaron, Satchel Paige, and others. I think some of them actually used the “n” word in describing their experiences in the old South. I would hate to see books like that taken off library shelves. They taught me some valuable lessons. -
Super Bowl ticket prices nosedive
The Frankish Reich replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Inflation has slightly more than doubled the cost of an item in those 32 years. So 600 bucks is now $1289. I’m not going, but if I were I’d wait a couple more days for those $1289 cheap seats! -
Michael Irvin Removed from NFL Network Superbowl LVll Coverage
The Frankish Reich replied to T&C's topic in The Stadium Wall
I had a relative who worked at DFW doing a lot of “special concierge” type projects for wealthy and high profile people. She said that all those 1990s Cowboys stars were great guys: Aikman, Emmitt, even Jimmy Johnson. Except for one entitled obnoxious doosh. Michael Irvin.
