I wonder when you really get down to it, if this isn't the way to go. How many times have we seen penalties in the return game and get backed up another 10-15 yards. Last time I looked the Bills were one of the worst teams in average starting position vs opponents starting position. Make sure the ball doesn't roll on punts, catch it, and kickoff returns take at the 20. The only downside is you lose the ability to return for a TD. Our team shows no ability to be dangerous in this regard though.

Torell Troupe still taking hits
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know first hand that this is a problem in college as well. And, in more than just football. Wish people really knew what goes on in the athletic programs around the country. It is just a bunch of coaches and administrators trying to further their own careers. Some have these public personnas of wonderful people, and the boosters kiss their butts if they win. LOYALTY and concern for the players is rare. -

I enjoyed the article, it was well done. I had always wondered what happened to TT. Sure makes you think about how these guys get treated by the teams. I'm sure this is not isolated to the Bills. It is rampant in the NFL. I hope he is able to land on his feet doing something else. Tough to come back from. -
Fantastic interview with Gilbride

Agreed! We finally have a guy who looks like he could be something, and yet rather than realizing he needs experience to develop, some crush him instead. Jeez! another lesson in some people are never happy I guess. It's okay to point out an opinion on what he needs to work on, it's another thing to say he sucks as a lot of posters on here do. -
Your're right. My bad. Forgot about Denarius, maybe for good reason

What the hell is wrong with Karlos now?
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower replied to Lv-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
According to Ty Dunne he's back at practice today. -
Not unreasonable. I used to return punts and my coaches always said the most important thing a PR does is catch the ball. This of course means not letting it roll as well as not muffing it. Leodis has done that and it hurts. However, the PR is a game changer and he has the ability. I'd like to Watkins do it myself.

No I've said it as well! That and pure randomness or luck going the Giants way. Not to hard to imagine a couple different bounces the other way and Pats have 2 more SB wins. Perfect. Article is nothing new. The LIST of why the Giants beat the Pats twice. 1. Defense 2. Eli Manning 3.Luck and Randomness 4. Tom Coughlin ....... 15. Officiating 16. Giants counter espionage program 17. Kevin Gilbride creating an offense that put up 20 pts/game and 350 yards/gm against a mediocre Pats D. -
Who ya got...LT or Thermal?

For a year or two LT might have better numbers. If you could only draft one to have their career, it would be The Thurmanator easily!!!! -

Week 11 Predictions: Bills at Pats* on MNF
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills 24-23. The Bills will utilize alot of 11 and 12 personnel with LeSean split out as a fifth receiver occasionally. This will cause the Pats to play nickel ,and after completing a few early passes, the running game will take over. Roman will use less heavy personnel groupings 21 and 22 early, because the Pats crowded the box last time. The defense is aided by the offense controlling the ball ,and Rex has the defense ready to challenge the Pats O this time. We commit fewer penalties, win the turnover battle and special teams plays a strong game. -

In my opinion people are overrating this article. I don't believe Gilbride has any magic formula for beating Belichick. Being 11-7 head to head is not significant. There are a million other variables involved, including randomness. Kudos to him for not screwing up in a couple Super Bowls and get rings. That's what its all about. That doesn't mean he has the magic bullet. In remain unconvinced, that any one of a number of NFL coordinators, including Roman, aren't aware of same things. I believe in both those wins there were a ton of plays that were a coin flip that bounced the Giants way. Not to mention the defensive effort put forth which probably had more to do with it than anything. Gilbride never struck me as someone who was way ahead of the curve. When he had talent he did alright, when he didn't-he didn't. He was no Bill Walsh. I think people who want a different QB other than Taylor, have latched onto the perceived negative comments and run with it. I'm sure you could find other NFL coordinators who would view it 180 degrees from Gildbride. And, I'm not positive from the article he was only trying to slam TT. He was in effect saying it's a process. It is fine to criticize the QB. Every teams fans do it. It gets a little ridiculous, when people can't wait to jump on to something negative, so they are be perceived to be correct in their own mind. In my opinion, some are not interested in the Bills winning with TT as QB. -
AGREED! AHHH! High School Physics.

Sammy will likely be undervalued for the foreseeable future on this site by the Fantasy Football crowd. FF has brought a great many people into the game who never played the game, and this has helped the NFL grow. It has also created a number of "new" experts who understand the game from the "he had 1200 yards receiving and 10 TDs".

Wouldn't it be nice if Sammy became this generations Paul Warfield.http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WarfPa00.htm That is the best receiver on 3 championship teams. And, who's stats clearly suffered by the context he played in. A winning context, not a fantasy football context. BTW, he's a HOFer too.

Agreed! Not that numbers are everything. But, since you brought up raw yards without context. Let me try to add a little context. Sammy Watkins ranks 76th in raw yards. When you adjust for games played, his 55yds/ game now becomes 43rd. When you adjust for the team, playcalling, QB, style of play, he rises to 25th, his adjusted yards per game is now 70. How did I get this? The average NFL has about 250 yards receiving per game, the Bills are 200, and adjustment of 1.25. You could adjust further, like Sammy played only about a quarter against Miami, but I'm not going to. BTW, the top guys are Stefon Diggs, Antonio Brown and Alshon Jeffrey. Beckham is in between somewhere. The top WR from last years class right now is Mike Evans at an adjusted 91/game. Another mistake people make with numbers is they represent only what has happened, not what could happen in the future because of the players potential-which is a scouting issue.
