  1. No , calling penalties on plays the directly impact scoring chances yes. Calling all the ticky tacky stuff NO So you want them to call a penalty 180' feet from the net when a guy steps on a stick and falls or a marginal hook while forechecking? Or a million other things...
  2. This is an excellent point and I've always believed in it.
  3. The Saints game! LOL we had 'em right where we wanted them and let them off the hook!
  4. I think to some extent referees determining games with calls has always been talked about. I remember being a huge Houston Oilers fan during the Bum Phillips, Earl Campbell era. I still think about the TD catch by Mike Renfro in the championship game against the Steelers in 1979 that was ruled both feet not down and in thus incomplete. The replay showed otherwise, but it was not in effect at the time, and the Steelers continued on and won another Super Bowl. I think people pissed and moaned, but the refs were considered part of the game and mistakes happened. It wasn't fun to accept..... but it was what it was. Replay has brought about a different era for sure. And, the mentality we just want to get it right in a technical sense. I also think your point about the college game is true because to me the rules seem simpler and more straightforward. The NFL has intervened way too much with its rules. I feel like I'm listening to lawyers, and politicians talk when I listen to the NFL folks talk. LOL! we both typed the Renfro catch at the same time.
  5. I heard Den Blandino on the radio today, and said from his experience, advising Alberto Riveron, that with social media now you can get something out on Sunday night to deal with damage control from the situation. This is the NFL approach to dealing with the problem. He further went on to say you hope it goes away in 24 hours. Jeez! Its all so clear why they don't solve problems.
  6. I don't believe he ever played a sport in his life.
  7. Some facts that are lightly disregarded by some. 1. 8-6 and a chance at the playoffs, would be great to get the monkey off the back and move forward with the culture of winning. Yes winning unlike BBFS which is whiney. 2. Lots of draft capital and the ability to get players who can help in the future and with 3 really good rookies the belief we know what we're doing in the draft. 3. Cap Space. We have the ability to go get players who fit in at a more reasonable rate than say 20Million/year DL. Star Lotulelei anyone. None of these facts was in place before the new regime and now they are.
  8. I think this post is a trap to see who to ban.....be verrr.y..we....careful.
  9. The NFL view on its rules problems.
  10. Until I see Blake Bortles in a big spot I am not sold on Jacksonville.
  11. Is somebody on here arguing that it isn't a rule? I haven't seen it. I see 90% of the people arguing that they hate the same stupid rules and the league continuing to do damage control all the time and not having change should be made.
  12. This season has to be one of the great travesties ever in terms of one team benefiting from changed calls in their favor. Just awful that Patriots get all three. I promise if this happens to the Bills they will lose another fan.
  13. I asked Dean Blandino for an explanation but I'm not holding my breath. I'm expecting crickets much like Dunkirk Don when he has no answers.
  14. I want Patriots/NFL/Rules shill to explain why this was ok. I'm sure there's a good reason! Pats would 9-5 and not 11-3 without this call and yesterdays calls.
  15. You can bet we'll never see Preston in that situation again. Time to move on to Deondre Coleman on the hands team.
  16. To me the point isn't that you can't interret the rule technically to reverse the call. It is that if someone had touched him it would have been a catch and ball inside the 1. Instead he tries to score and the ball moves so now its not a catch. And, its not a fumble because the ground can't cause a fumble. I don't know about you but that is one hell of a supersede rule. I mean I knew they were emphasizing the passing game but jeez.
  17. Every wonderful and magical touchdown catch you remember from your childhood, every last one, would be ruled incomplete in today's NFL.
  18. I know the rule and its implementation. The rule is dumb. My issue with that play specifically is he wasn’t completing a catch; he broke plane as runner with intent. Because if he would have been touched before, he would have been down and it a catch. Thus, catch completed.
  19. Undisciplined rabble it was they look like too me. And, when the talent is not as strong due to age and injury it catches up to you.
  20. I would say the rules, the refs and Dean Blandino Commissioner. Biggest weaknesses in the NFL.
  21. Better have eyes on the back of your head because they are coming to knock it away. Even walking off the field.
  22. https://twitter.com/DeanBlandino/status/942551139127500800 These are the types who are running the NFL now.
  23. Any word on Gaines injury?
