Yes. If the Bills were for real, they would have beat the Jets and beat them badly. But the real Bills team showed up (the one built on character instead of talent). And boy, high character or not, they suck as a football team.

They are certainly in need of talent at certain positions. The back breaker for the Bills this year has been the dropoff in performance from the offensive line. They were never good pass blockers, but their run blocking completely sucks compared to the last two years. This season has lived and died with the play of the offensive and defensive lines. Everyone loves to focus on the skill players (ball handlers), but in reality it has always been determined in the trenches. Next year will be the same way - no matter which Qb they draft. If they don't fix what is truly awful with the offensive line (coaching) and players on right side - well then this team will continue sucking on offense.

True. But you know what teams are going to try to do to defend against Tyrod. So why aren't you exploiting that if you are the OC? There have been games earlier this year where Tyrod's talents (the ones he really does have) were used against the opponent. In the Saints game, Dennison allowed the Saints defense to dictate what the Bills could and couldn't do. Bad strategic coaching.

Have to admit, that Jet's game convinced me that the Bills were not a very good football team. Up to that point my opinion of them was increasing week by week. That game pulled the rug out from under my optimism like a rubber mat in preseason practice. Jets game made it obvious the Bills were pretenders. I felt that way strongly and immediately at the end of that game. These last two games have played out exactly as I expected the Bills to play this year - just can't believe they got off to such a good start.

Betcha McDermott cares. He is the one preaching character. What is he gonna say if his team melts down farther from here? Some of those guys already quit. They quit believing they deserved to be on the field with any other NFL team. This does not bode well for the (short term or intermediate term) future of the franchise.

Probably true. Regardless though, if the Bills lose a couple more in a row, there will be a revolt in the locker room regardless of who is playing QB. We'll see how much "character" there is in that locker room if the Bills losing streak continues. Can't imagine guys keeping their mouths shut and taking a beating that many weeks in a row. Emotions will win over logic. Has to happen eventually. Bills are currently trending to replace Cleveland as the current laughing stock of the NFL. Good grief Charlie Brown!

Maybe Lynn is pissed that he doesn't get to game plan against Tyrod as the starter. He has probably been licking his chops over it. Hope it backfires on him by not focusing enough on Peterman and McCoy and receivers. Playing against Lynn's team could also be a big part of the reason why McDermott wants to start Peterman this week instead of a later week. McDermott maybe felt with the direction the offense had gone and with playing against last year's coach, this game was nearly hopeless with TT at QB.

It is kind of humorous actually. But it is probably a good thing for Buffalo. I would think Lynn would be focused solely on demolishing a rookie QB with exotic blitzes and stopping Shady.

McCoy's exact words when interviewed immediately after the switch. 29 seconds into the interview "I think everybody was kind of surprised, and nobody new until just today" Doesn't sound like a locker room who knows a change needs to be made at QB and they are just waiting for it to be made. Then when specifically asked about Peterman: Question: Does he look like a guy who can handle this? McCoy "Well, I don't know. I don't think nobody knows that answer." Then McCoy goes on to say the biggest positive thing about it is that He is a Pitt guy. Still doesn't sound like a guy who thought Tyrod should go to the bench for the rookie. At the very end of the interview McCoy says "We'll see if the switch was right." Again, doesn't sound like a guy who was thinking "the Bills need to make a change at QB"

Yes exactly. It was simply a response to the way you stated that anyone who thinks there is a chance they lose the locker room doesn't understand professional sports. I was disagreeing with the way you stated it as if it was a fact. When in fact you don't know what the players really think. You are guessing like everyone else. I think your guess is probably right. I just didn't like the way you worded it as if people don't understand sports if they disagreed with your "opinion". It is entirely possible that most of the team thinks starting Peterman is a good move and that Peterman is a better QB. The opposite is also entirely possible. Nobody really knows the truth outside of the people in that locker room. All the players are going to say "at least for now" is that Peterman is a great player and he needs to make the most of his opportunity.

I heard the recent accolades too guys. Just saying that is not proof that the players or a majority thereof or the leaders, etc. think that Peterman is a better QB. I think they understand why it is happening. But that is just my opinion. A guess. Like everyone else is doing. Maybe they do think Peterman is better. Maybe they don't.

Sure. Still doesn't mean they think Peterman is a better player. Maybe they do and maybe they don't. None of us have seen a recent practice or have been privy to the conversations those players have about their QB in private.

I mostly agree. I doubt they had their minds made up on whether Taylor was going to be part of this team next year. I think the last couple games swayed their opinion towards a new Qb being a more urgent need. I am thinking that the play of the last game especially firmed their line of thinking that Tyrod should be a backup and not a starter. And with half a season of bench time now under Nate Peterman's belt, they probably figured it was time to give him a shot and see how he responds. Then they will have a better idea of what they have in Peterman. Maybe they get lucky and he catches fire and becomes the guy. Or if not, they then know they need to move up in the draft and get their guy. So many holes to fill on this team right now. Well, unless they miraculously turn it around in a big way.

You are assuming that the players think Peterman is a better Qb than Tyrod. You don't know that. Maybe they do and maybe they don't. Or more likely, some do and some don't. Losing the locker room is a much smaller likelihood now simply because Tyrod sucked donkey balls in the last game. So logically, the decision to start Peterman can be justified. But you don't know what the players are really thinking. My guess is that this next game is going to influence their opinions greatly one way or the other once they play a real game with Peterman at QB.

Yep. Gotta get it right eventually. Or so we hope. Just wonder how they are going to piece the rest of the team together. After the last two games they look like a team that is at least several years away. Three games ago, they looked like a team that was very, very close. WTF?
