^^This guy gets it. You could be a professor at armchair NFL GM university. Best party school in the USA. Heavy drinking encouraged.

If it’s my pick here is the Bills next QB
PolishDave replied to bills in oregon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I literally don't care which QB they draft, as long as they are right about whoever it is. Don't care if they take him 1st overall. Don't care if he is the joke player drafted at the very end of the draft (ala Chad (super-douche) Kelly). Just gotta be right about him whoever he is. -
I bet you either the AFC or NFC wins the Superbowl.

Lunch pail full of wings? I wonder who would win in a wing eating contest, Brian Daboll or Greg Roman?
-
I am also VERY IMPRESSED that the OP used all caps in the thread title. Adds more meaning, emotion and legitimacy to the entire thread. Great job dude!

Huh? Would have thought you could say that if the Saints had won. But...... Moral of the game is - one player with his head up his rear can cost you a game/season. A tackle in bounds anywhere on the field or pushing him out of bounds ends the game. It was ridiculously hilarious that Minnesota was allowed to win. The receiver won that game for them. Individually awesome play that shouldn't have been allowed to happen. And I love it because I wanted Minnesota to win.

I like that McDermott wants to surround himself with guys smarter than him. Don't know that Daboll will be excellent right out of the gate. I do think, if he is really that smart, that he will be near the top of his field at some point in the future. (Tends to happen with the smartest people.) If he ends up being great while here, there is a really good chance he stays in Buffalo for a long time - because of his roots here. That would be absolutely awesome if he ends up being a great one.

Excellent choice of thread topics. I commend the OP for this well thought out LAMP thread.

Bills draft board just added a couple players from BAMA.

How do we know Daboll isn't really Badol?

If you don't think the Bills chose to be ground and pound of their own free will, then you must not really follow football very deeply. At any point in the last three years, they could have went and got a different style of quarterback and started that guy if they so chose. They didn't. They didn't go get Shady because of their QB. They went and got Shady because they WANTED to run the ball.

So Tyrod then. That ought to make you guys happy.

Oh man I hate that. It is so high-school-ish. Puts too much emphasis on the coaches instead of the players. I watch the sport to watch players play - not to watch coaches play chess against one another- friggin BORING!

QB Draft Stats: probability of finding That Guy
PolishDave replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh yeah. There's that. -
Welcome to the club. I quit watching NE games literally years ago. Only watch them when the Bills play them or when I don't care if they win. If I didn't adopt that attitude, I would have been forced to leave the NFL entirely. Just Can't Take It. Eff Them! and anyone who plays or cheers for them! I fart in their general direction.

If the OC is Bevell I see 2 Things.....
PolishDave replied to JMF2006's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let me shorten it for ya... If his highlight reels.....the ones posted on Youtube by his Superfans ..... are supposed to be his best of his best... Well then, his best isn't good enough. He is college good. Not NFL good. Plays he made are plays that college ATHLETES make. They are not plays that NFL quarterbacks make.... At least not in this era. Dude is college all star all the way... He is a less talented version of that Texas QB that played for a bunch of teams for a while before busting out of NFL... Vince Young. That's him. But Lamar Jackson is nowhere near as good as even Vince Young was. Not close. Well, that is just my opinion. Dude ain't never gonna be a winner in the NFL. He is less talented than Tyrod was in college. No thanks. I'm calling him a bust before he is even drafted. I would bet money on it. As a season ticket holder, if the Bills draft him and start him I puke. I would still support him. But I would have to get a lot drunker before the games. And my Polish liver is already screaming, screaming for vengeance. -
QB Draft Stats: probability of finding That Guy
PolishDave replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So using your criteria and stats posted..... Percentage of times teams found a decent Qb in 1) Top 10 draft picks 45% (teams decided they absolutely MUST have this qb) 2) Round 1 - picks 11-32 18% (teams decided they want the guy but won't trade up hardcore with first picks for him) 3) All round 1 picks combined 34% 4) Rounds 2 and 3 combined 18% (teams think guy might make a franchise QB, but serious question marks) 5) Rounds 4-5 8% (unlikely to become Franchise guy soon but take a shot because he has enough upside chance) Fun interpretation: Based on these odds it makes sense for the Bills to trade down with both of their first round picks so that they have at least 3 first round picks next year. Odds are they get a guy because 34% each guy drafted. Or: Take both first round QB's this year. If you don't hit, take one in the first next year. Or Take one first rounder this year. If you don't hit, take one first rounder next year. If you don't hit there, take one first rounder the following year. Whoever came up with the idea of taking a QB in the first every year until you hit on one is a genius. -

I don't think fans are going to be very happy at all if the Bills draft Lamar Jackson, especially if they draft him in round 1. I haven't watched the guy a lot. I have watched more of his highlight clips than I have seen of his other play. In those highlight clips a couple of things are glaringly evident: 1) He makes more big plays with his legs than with his arm 2) A large percentage of the big plays he makes with his arm are not throws where you would say "Wow, what a throw!" A lot of the big plays are him throwing the ball "kind of up for grabs" and the receiver makes a better play than the defender does. It doesn't look like he is dropping lots of them "in the bread basket" so to speak. Based on those two things, I think the guy is not NFL starter caliber. Unless of course an NFL team wants to run the QB on designed runs an awful lot. I don't think even Bevell really wants to do that. If Jackson were a slightly better passer who made the vast majority of his big plays with his arm, I would be more optimistic about him. I hope the Bills pass on him regardless of who the OC ends up being. -

Here are the stats I would like to know: Percentage of times teams found a franchise Qb in 1) Top 10 draft picks 2) Round 1 - picks 11-32 3) All round 1 picks combined 4) Rounds 2 and 3 combined 5) Rounds 4-7 or undrafted walk ons -
I'm sending you a $50 bill if it happens. And a case of beer.

You would think they must have a very low opinion of him in order to do this because he doesn't cost much and I doubt they will get even a 3rd for him. So I assume they must look at him as if he is inferior to at least one other player they already have at that position. Don't you think? Otherwise wouldn't it make sense that they keep him until he is replaced with an upgrade? You can't count on the draft or free agency yet because those things haven't happened yet. It would be an unnecessary gamble.

I don't see that either. Brees is the best QB in that game. I think the difference is in the rest of the team. I am predicting (hoping) Minny's running game and defense are going to play superior football.
