  1. If you hold teams to 13 points, you should win every game. This one falls on Tyrod and company in my opinion

99.9 passer rating is dissected. 23/34 for 258 is dissected. The Ravens got whatever they need when the needed it. Easily moved the chains to burn the clock.

Keep telling yourself this is a great defense though.

These really are the two ways to look at the situation. I'm looking at it this way: Giving up 13 points is certainly indicitive of a defense putting the offense in the position to win the game. But the Ravens were playing the whole game conservatively. It might be a different story when the Bills face a team that has to open it up. I'm not gonna rip the defense by speculating what might've been, but it bears watching.

  2. I assumed he smoked marijuana as he has a long proven history of this.

Since I mentioned Marinol in my post, you already know I am aware that cannabinoids come in pill form. I also stated that if he has a prescription for this from his doctor, he would likely have appealed. He didn't, so I again concluded he smoked.

The euphoria of MJ has been cited in responses to one of the few studies that looked at marijuana as a treatment in Crohn's patients as the reason for their self reported improvement of symptoms.

Patients I have prescribed Marinol to (for post operative nausea unresponsive to other anti-emetics) have not complained of being "too high".

I respect that you are an advocate for widespread medical cannabis use, but spare me the lectures concerning stuff you read about on a pro-cannabis (a drug company, ironically) website. For this disease, cannabis is not a standard treatment by any means and it's not because we are all in the pockets of big pharma or whatever else you imagine is preventing physicians from prescribing cannabis for Crohn's disease on a routine basis.

First, thank you for your informed take on this. Always nice to hear from someone with real knowledge on a subject.

Henderson's marijuana use predates his Crohn's diagnosis so we know his history is recreational use. He's also been in the NFL's substance abuse program for some time because a 4 game suspension is the penalty for a 3rd violation. There's no excuse for not knowing and following the rules in this case. This is on him and I have to think his NFL career is pretty much over.

Whether or not you agree with the NFL marijuana rules (and I don't), they're the rules. If you want to play, you have to follow them - or at least not get caught breaking them.

  3. The reporters at the news are simply reporting or commenting on what is actually happening around the team. There is also an influence from the frighteningly epic level of futility the franchise has been mired in , especially being in a league where everything is designed to prevent it. Just what are the positive developments they should be praising? These are journalists, not fans. They are going to have a more realistic and skeptical slant than a fan reaching for something positive to hold on to. But their writing has zero influence on the team's performance on the field . When that changes the reporting will reflect it.

No, but something balanced might not be a bad way to go. Theres been some ridiculous stuff from BN. It's fine to point out deficiencies or specific perceived problems. I've sure done that. But the BN isn't being specific or logical, they're taking an unreasonable and hyperbolic tack.

  4. I am not talking player....I am talking organization, media, fans everything... It is always negative.... Why wasnt his piece about the blowout of NE and Sam Adams rumbling into the end zone. I call it the Lawyer Milloy game!

The Buffalo News has been crazily, unfairly negative of late. I totally agree with that. I was speaking to the people who believe that media and fan criticism (fair or unfair) has any impact on how a team or player actually performs. Because that's ridiculous.

  5. You can believe that but the coaches and players know the fans and media expect them to fail because of history. That has an effect. When everyone says you won't succeed no matter what you do or how hard you try, don't be shocked when you get what you wish for.

Exactly....living in Chicago a cubs fan same sh°^ happened.... All you heard even before they got good was watch this team contend for years... Not a article night before opening day saying it's the same old crap. Players and coaches feed off energy. Negative energy persists over buffalo more than any other... We can change this.

No professional player worth their salt would let anything any fan says impact their performance. If a single Bills player is impacted at all by anything any fan or media member says about them I want them off the team today because they are too mentally weak to be of value.

  6. He's a big wild card. VERY talented, but a long shot to stay healthy.

Hopefully they can use him in ways that maximize his skill but minimize hits for a bit. I think that stringing together some games where he's productive but doesn't get killed by a linebacker will do wonders for him

He's VERY fast, but I wouldn't say he is very talented. Being fast sure helps at WR, but (as others have already mentioned in this thread) he needs to show he has the other skills necessary to be a viable NFL WR.

  7. Gilmore extension time I'm hoping.

    @mikerodak

The Bills and reserve center Patrick Lewis have agreed to a 1-year extension, source tells ESPN NFL Insider

I'm thinking it happens before Sunday

Yup, good calls. Start of the regular season is often the effective deadline for completing a new deal in cases like Gilmore's. His agent has been looking for the best deal for him so I've expected negotiations to go up to the last minute.

  8. Looking at this group, the first thought that comes to mind is, who in the world thinks these guys can really compete in this league?

After you get past Sammy, there's not really anybody there but Woods, who is OK as a # 2, I guess.

Sammy and Woods combined for just over 100 catches and 10 TDs total.

That's not going to get it done. Bills finished 28 or 29 in league in receiving for 2015.

I have brought up the same issues with the receiver corps. It's why I wanted them to draft a WR early. Watkins can be a special WR, Woods is a serviceable #2 (although I'd rather have a speedster there to help draw coverage away from Watkins) and then there's not much. The hope is that a speedster can help. The TE corps after Clay is just JAGs. Watkins, Shady, Clay and Tyrod are all going to have to play at a high level and stay relatively healthy. Some other guys are going to have to step up and take advantage of the attention the afore mentioned players get from defenses.

  9. Why isn't that credible? Just because he liked to smoke before he was in the NFL doesn't mean it's not helpful now. A quick Google search turns up many articles (most of them not from high times) indicating there is evidence that Marijuana can be helpful for those suffering from Crohn's and Colitis.

I don't agree with the rule, but it is what it is. A four game suspension means this is at least his third failed test. That's why the Crohn's disease defense is not credible. He's been in the drug program since the first failed test and knows the deal with what he can and can't do.

  10. Isn't it a little late to be screwing around with your OL? Especially when starting a rookie QB you invested in like gold?

    @jasonlacanfora

Eagles were shopping OL Josh Kline after landing him (before he reverted to Pats). Also shopping OL Josh Andrews and more....

Eagles also indicated willingness to other teams to potentially move C/G Stefan Wisniewski as well. Clearly looking to move OL

They know Cleveland has their 1st round pick, right?

  11. it might be funny but look what happened with Milloy, he was cut and the Pats went on to win it all that year.

    Bill is hiding something

The Cheatriots are lined up to have a crap ton of cap space next season. Makes me think something is up with so many expiring contracts. I wonder if there will be some very notable retirements after the season?

  12. True but if anyone is NFL ready it's Wentz because he played in a pro system and made line calls and audibles

A pro style system and making line calls/audibles is a big plus and does help prepare a QB for the NFL. I agree with that. But there's so much Wentz needs to work on before he starts an NFL game. He has the physical attributes you look for in a QB an he looked great from the pocket and on first reads in college, but his knocks were that he was slow to process, had accuracy issues past 20 yards and couldn't find receivers once he was moved from the pocket. He was usually late on his second read and never got to his third even when the first two were covered. I was really impressed with Philly when the said they'd sit him his whole first season. That was the right move for Wentz. But I guess the Iggles gotta Iggles, as they say. Starting him from game 1 is going to put Philly into contention for the worst team in the league this season.

9-7. A strong start could put emotions high and, if the team is rolling, healthy and playing loose, one or two of those losses could become wins. That'd mean playoffs. That's the best case scenario. The worst case is the season is derailed by injury or some early losses in winnable games before hitting what looks to be a tough stretch. It can go either way and you gotta play the games. Excited to see what the season has in store,
