Can't blame Jauron or coaching staff for this lost
Brandon replied to bluv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It may get old, but he's right. I might give Jauron a pass if this were an isolated incident, but the Bills always seem to find a new and inventive way to blow it against good teams. This was just more of the same old sh** we've seen for Jauron's entire tenure, and even prior to that. -
Just looking at the numbers, I'd guess that one of Kelsay, Denney and Schobel is going to get some bad news today. They've got a total of six guys with a good chance of making the final roster, but will probably only keep five.

Fitzpatrick starting at QB tonight
Brandon replied to Turn Down For Watkins's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't see what the big deal is. Judging from their previous games this preseason, it appears to me that Edwards and the Bills offense are in mid-season form. -
So has Lynch. While Lynch's punishment was far less than Vick's (as was the crime, IMO), both have 'paid their debt' to society in the eyes of the criminal justice system. If that's the criteria, Lynch should not be suspended, either.

No, it really doesn't change my opinion of the front office. The Owens signing was mostly just an attempt by the front office to pacify the fans after keeping Jauron. If anything, its more of the same attitude from the front office I've come to expect over the years, that they can slap a bandaid on the problem and consider it fixed.

Good Thing Is That It Sounds As Though

Tell me about it. What does it say about this team that we have to honestly worry about what comes after Dick Jauron, for crying out loud? -

I agree completely, but never underestimate this front office's willingness to sell the fans a turd sandwich. -
I can't say that I really even care. He's 32, coming off the two worst years of his career and is playing for a lame duck head coach. The writing seems to be on the wall. This will very likely be Schobel's last year with the team.

The worst thing that could happen is for Jauron to get fired midseason. You know what will happen. Schonert or Fewell will win three games at the end of the season and Ralph will proclaim that we're now on the right track, make that guy the new HC, and all the BS will just start again. Hell, what am I talking about? If they fire Jauron, Ralph will probably kick over a rock at the end of the year and find Rich Kotite anyway. -
No to Gay Marriage, Yes to breast implants
Brandon replied to BillsWatch's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Agreed and are we really so hypersensitive as a society that a 20 year old girl can't express her opinion on national television without being raked over the coals for more than a week as a result? I really don't know what people want from her, unless they expected a canned, pre-approved, politically correct response. She was asked a loaded question and gave an honest answer. I don't see anything wrong with that. -
This royally sucks! Mortensen to work out with Bills.

He should. His kid was never higher than third on the depth chart at Arkansas, if that. -
Bills Daily gives Bills C- grade...
Brandon replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't disagree with their grade, really. I don't absolutely hate the Maybin pick, but I do have concerns about his lack of experience as well as his lack of size. The next several picks were all good, but then the CB picks to me were wastes. Overall, I think its a C draft, maybe a C+. There's potential for it to go higher depending on Maybin, but that pick scares me and combined with the two throwaway picks at the end, I'm only cautiously optimistic about this draft. Additionally, I'm very concerned that they've done nothing through FA and now the draft to address one of the worst run defenses in the NFL over the last four years. That said, I do like this draft more than some may think just given the grade. I tend to grade pretty harshly and 'C' grade from me isn't bad at all. -
Start buying your Steelers gear tomorrow, then. On second thought, maybe they wait until R2, but its doubtful.
-
No big deal. Pittsburgh can just sign him when we have to cut him in August.
-
Amen. You know what the most idiotic part of it is? There's a good chance that the Bills will draft a CB in R1 next year. McGee is 30 and his contract is almost up. They'll need a replacement. Joy. The Bills have now drafted 10 DBs in the last four drafts. It sure would be nice if they'd put half that much effort into some other positions.

Round 7, Pick 220: ELLIS LANKSTER, CB, West Virginia
Brandon replied to Captain Quint's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Excellent. Its too bad we ran out of picks, though. There are still a few more spots on the practice squad for CBs that'll never make the active roster. -

The Bills Have Drafted Their Pass Catching TE, But.....
Brandon replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
James Hardy was injured in December. He was active for the first 14 games of the year. As for Shawn Nelson, here's what the Bills say about him: “Being a former wide receiver he’s a little more trained in route running where you can just split him out in the slot and create matchup issues because he does have that athletic ability with his size to be able to do those things,” said Heinlen. “Route running and his polish are very good in the receiving game. He’s just raw in the blocking aspect of it. He should be able to come in and help our passing game right away.” http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1...29-ff36ce9e1b00 It doesn't sound like its going to be a problem, certainly not like it was with Hardy. The coaching staff immediately acknowledged that the Indiana offense was very simplistic last year right after they picked him, so I think the above was an honest assessment about Nelson's readiness to contribute. -
You can make basically the same type of argument against Harris beating out any of these CBs. The point is, if the Bills are going to make an attempt at building depth somewhere, its probably more likely that a DT pick here late is going to stick than a CB will simply because of the numbers. That's especially true given the fact that the Bills were so happy with McCargo that they tried to unload him last year. At this point, even a camp fodder pick at DT is probably worth more to them than a 6th CB on the roster. They don't even have enough DTs to go into training camp with at the moment. They could use at least two or three more or else the guys they do have are going to start breaking down. Maybe they can sign a few after the draft, but maybe not.
-
No, Cary Harris is not the end of the world, but that area I highlighted might well be the end of the Bills season if they don't find a way to add some depth.
-
The practice squad is a possibility, much more than the regular roster, IMO. That said, if he can play, how long do you think it'll be until some other team signs him? Not long. This is much like the Kennard Cox pick last year. They simply don't have room on the roster and regardless of the quality of the player, that makes it a very questionable pick. Whether its Harris, Youboty or Corner, someone probably has to go once the final cut downs occur. Granted, its just a 6th rounder, but it makes one wonder what the front office is thinking.

Round 6, Pick 183: CARY HARRIS, CB, USC
Brandon replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan 2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he's a practice squad player, then he's going to have to be cut first. They're not a part of the active roster. If he's any good, someone will just sign him off the practice squad and this pick will have been flushed down the toilet. -
You're right to a point, but if they have to cut this guy this fall for the final roster AND they end up thin at DT or some other position, then this doesn't look too bright, at least IMO. They have too many DBs. They can't keep 'em all.
-
They may as well just forfeit the pick. They can't carry all of these DBs on the roster anyway. Someone is going to have to be cut.

Round 6, Pick 183: CARY HARRIS, CB, USC
Brandon replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan 2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I realize its only a 6th round pick, but good grief. The Bills have: Terrence McGee Ashton Youboty Reggie Corner Leodis McKelvin Drayton Florence And now...Cary Harris. So...who gets cut?
