They'd be mentioned as a candidate, but the Bills are reasonably profitable and the fans do attend the games. If I had to guess, the Bills would stand a high chance of surviving even a four team contraction. Jacksonville and Detroit would probably 1-2 on the list, the former because of its inability to draw fans, the latter because of the horrid local economy.
-
If anything, the NFL should be thinking about contraction. Its no coincidence that the quality of play has gone down the toilet since the expansion from 28 teams. Expansion has diluted the talent level past the breaking point.
-
Excitement? I don't think so. These Bills look exactly like the Bills of the last several seasons. They're just good enough to win a few games against the garbage teams, but when faced with one that's halfway decent, especially offensively, they're usually in serious trouble. As evidence, note that the Bills are 8-25 under Dick Jauron when the opposing team scores 17 points or more.
-
I don't know, guys. As long as you ignore the millions of jobs that we know have been lost in the meantime, it seems reasonable enough. So what if 530,000 people filed for initial unemployment this week? The stimulus package offset it, plus some. We're saved! You know what, this thread is just racist. That's what it is.
-
I don't know. They might get lucky and finish with 6-8 wins, but as pitifully as they've played, especially offensively, I certainly couldn't make the argument that they're playing anything remotely close to good football or are well coached. No, its just that they've just won the weekly Turd Bowl two of the last three weeks. He has probably secured his position until the end of the season, but barring a miracle, I can't see Dick Jauron as this team's head coach next year.
-
No, I haven't. I'm simply saying that at this point, they're going to have to rebuild the defensive front seven anyway, and given that fact, a scheme change should be taken under consideration.
-
Just look at their front seven. Injuries have played a major role, but still, they're small, they're slow and on the DL, they're old. That's a disaster waiting to happen.
-
Maybe he is fat, but so were Pat Williams and Ted Washington. As for the 3-4...maybe the Bills should switch at the end of the year. Given that they're allowing almost 200 yards rushing per game and likely to bring in a new coaching staff, it can't get a hell of a lot worse. If they were ever going to do it, this offseason would be the perfect opportunity.

Oh great. Not this sh** again.

I know....I know, it's too early...
Brandon replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is too early to proclaim him a bust, but I standby what I said at the time he was drafted. Rookie DEs are risky picks in R1 to begin with, with a bust rate as high as any other position, but when that guy only has one year of collegiate production backing him, you're really playing with fire drafting him that high. The odds are not and never were in his favor. -
Why are so many people turning a blind eye to Trent?
Brandon replied to Rayzer32's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be quite honest, I couldn't care less if he were 5 of 5 or if all of them were to WRs. Its not enough to judge whether Edwards would have played well throughout the game or not. Don't get me wrong, I'm far from being on the Fitzpatrick bandwagon, but as poorly as Edwards and this offense have played this season, I don't see the harm in giving Fitz the next two games before the bye to see what effect a QB change might have. I'm not expecting much, but again, I don't think it can get much worse. -
That's only a little worse than their seasonal averages for the last five years or so, as pathetic as it is.
-
I'm not entirely convinced. If that were the case, I think Dick would've sat Edwards down by now. No, I think that, at least to some extent, this coaching staff is instructing him to play this way. I think those WRs may actually be designed decoys on a lot of those plays, and no, I'm not kidding. Remember when Turk Schonert accused Dick of wanting a Pop Warner offense? Looks like he was right from where I'm sitting.
-
Honestly, I don't have much issue with Modrak and the college scouting staff. They aren't the best in the league, but they're probably the only capable group in that front office. The rest of this miserable coaching staff and front office? That's another story.
-
But, can't you see!? This means that Dick is improving! His winning percentage is .430 with the Bills! He's getting better, guys!

300 yard passers have won 74% of the time this season
Brandon replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its not a dominant passing game that wins, necessarily, but one that can generate big plays. The Bills? They're content to nickel and dime the opposing defense to death, but the problem is, it doesn't work with any consistency these days. You have to have the ability and willingness to aggressively take yardage in chunks if you want to score enough points to win. The Bills offense has the former, but unfortunately, the coaching staff does not have the latter. -
Who's watching Tony Pike right now on ESPN?
Brandon replied to Phlegm Alley's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was pretty much my assessment as well. As far as arm strength is concerned, I was greatly disappointed. I'd heard a lot of hype, but watching this game, I'd rate him no better than 'above average' in that category. He fired that 2nd TD pass, and that made me reconsider his arm strength a bit, but the rest weren't much. He threw a lot of floaters, and was lucky one of those quick WR screens wasn't six for the other team. His accuracy was pretty good, although he did throw a few too high, and he does have surprisingly mobility. I'll have to watch him play again, if he does this season, but right now, I think he's closer to being a mid-round guy than a borderline 1st. -
Trent's problem isn't his arm. He's never going to be mistaken for John Elway, but his arm is decent enough. He's a bad QB not because he can't make most requisite NFL throws, but because he's too damn risk averse.
-
I'm no big fan of this team's front office, but I'm not too sympathetic to his argument. The guy was an undrafted player who was never really more than a 2nd or 3rd team safety who played not because he was particularly good, but because they had no one else. Honestly, what did he expect?
-
Yes, but only to a point. In most cases, the Bills haven't given their QBs much help in the last decade, but by the same token, their QBs really haven't been very good, either. The one fairly good QB they had was Drew Bledsoe, but if you ever needed more evidence of how dumb the front office is, look at the guys they put in the middle of that OL.
-
It would probably be more entertaining than this bullcrap, at the very least. Oh well.

Zero tolerance, huh? Apparently, that refers to the school district's tolerance for common sense. Oh well. -
Since Maybin is being swallowed up by NFL tackles

Maybe you should give it a try. You're the one trying to play board police, not I. -
Since Maybin is being swallowed up by NFL tackles
Brandon replied to HelloNewman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, so? The whole damn topic is about a 'what-if' scenario of moving Maybin to OLB. -
It won't happen. They always find a way to win just enough relatively meaningless games to knock themselves out of contention for the handful of truly elite prospects in any given draft. It happens almost every year.
