  1. but haven't we rallied for wins against Chicago, Minn, and Detroit? In the 2nd half? Winning close games?
  2. The offensive line has been horrendous all season and the QB play has been below average. One question is, could better coaching help? I would think a seasoned executive(with Polian type experience) should be able to tell easily if Hackett is a problem or it's talent that's lacking.... or a combination of both. My guess is Pegula already has had conversations with some type of 'advisor' and will make a decision based on the advice given him.
  3. if they run the ball and get stopped , the criticism will be 'too predictable'. All season long Hackett was criticized for running too much, now for throwing instead of running on what would seem to be obvious running situations. It comes down to execution. You can only run or pass. It's easy(and stupid) to complain that a run didn't work so they should have passed, and vice versa. The pass calls were good, because receivers were open in the end zone. We ran well, possible because we called runs at the right time.
  4. even though we do fumble too much, we are 7th in the league in takeaway/giveaways- so I'm guessing they are doing a good job teaching the value of winning the turnover battle, it's just that it seems our turnovers come at the most inopportune times.
  5. because they are 4-5 this year? Imagine Bills fans reaction to Payton being 4-5 here in Buffalo. He has Brees and is below .500, we have Orton and are above. Many predicted great things for the Saints this year, it still may happen, but doesn't look good so far.In normal situation, I think Marrone is here next year and there is a good chance the team will continue to improve. However, we miss the playoffs and Pegula may be a bit paranoid after the Sabres fiasco and make some changes. The fact the he seems to have long planned on trying to purchase the Bills when the time came leads me to believe that he has a management plan in place right now.
  6. based on what? His success with Cutler?
  7. Exactly - if we beat SD 37-0, we'd be crying if we didn't get the same reaction Miami is getting now. They deserve the attention.
  8. I think players earn their opportunities in practice, there is too much riding on each game to take such a risk. We all saw how poorly he played in preseason, if he practices all week and plays as bad as he did before, it's a possible disaster. Coaches can't afford mistakes like that.It really comes down to the fact that we have severe deficiencies at the line, and there isn't much you can do about it once the season starts. It's frustrating to watch, and we can throw out suggestions, but for the most part, we're stuck. You hope the rookies progress quickly but it's a lot to hope for.
  9. Not at all, just because he may be ready now to get a shot doesn't mean he was ready earlier. It's not written in stone that rookies are supposed to be ready to play on Week 1, it takes time. Let's just hope he improved since preseason because he was awful.
  10. They just dominated the first place Bengals in Cincinnati, how is that not impressive. Do you have reasoning behind your hunch they won't make the playoffs or is it just wishful thinking?
  11. yes it can, but let's hope it doesn't
  12. Lot's of rookie WR putting up nice numbers. Evans had similar stats to Watkins last week. Not sure he is much better than Beckham, Evans, or Benjamin.... time will tell. Watkins needs to be a star for many years to prove to be worth that additional 1st and 4th round picks we gave up. I think he will be great, he is now... but not much better than many other rookies. This will go down as one of the best receiver classes in years.
  13. facts always get in the way of a good thread.
  14. Arizona plays in a dome, no weather issues for games.
  15. Sorry for acting so tough on you, but reading these posts daily I am shocked at some of the logic that goes into 'hoping we win' by things other then playing the game. Look past a game, trap game, travel through time zones, weather, the fans....Nothing personal, just amazes me sometimes.
  16. You really think players actually circled dates on their calender....
  17. They probably will, I wonder if they will even show up for the game. They might even plan on Russell Wilson at QB... wouldn't that be funny.
  18. I think this TE issue, that the Bills have never been able to cover them, is one those stupid threads that goes on without anyone really thinking about what they are saying. A TE has a good day and there is the issue that we can't cover them. A WR had the same day, but no comment on how we can't cover WR. Why are TE so different that it should be expected that they aren't productive? WR, TE and RB all catch balls, they are trained to. If they have a good day, it isn't necessarily a indictment of the defense. I get really tired of hearing this babble. And honestly for many years, we haven't defended any player very well, not sure why tight ends get singled out.
  19. it would be nice if all good players played at a high level forever, but it doesn't work that way. One of the biggest fallacies in life is that if something happened in the past, it will happen again in the future. Players skills deteriorate over time, some quicker than others. Injuries, age, skill all factor in. What happened on the 2011 O-line is irrelevant.
  20. why 'guru' , just because he played the position? That would make hundreds of guru's out there. you don't know that they didn't try, but which team actually could afford to trade a quality lineman. We drafted 3 lineman this past year. The team is probably expecting them to start eventually, unfortunately it doesn't always happen as quickly as we would hope.
  21. "it's 4 down territory" , it's always 4 downs, it's just a matter of whether you punt or go for it on fourth.
  22. I think you should expect more from them. They probably get paid quite well to do this job. I personally don't care all that much how bad they are, but I would think they would try to stop saying stupid things. Announcers that say obvious things are pretty useless in my opinion. Sometimes they just don't think and end up saying stupid things. Looking at another sport - my brothers favorite pet peeve. When a basketball player throws the ball overhand down court, they call it a baseball pass.... they don't pass the ball in baseball. Why don't they call it a basketball pass, since that is exactly what it is. This is why they are called pet peeves, stupid stuff, but not at all serious.
  23. When judging if the play results in a first down or not -- "it depends on the spot" - no kidding.
  24. reminds me of lance alworth, raymond berry, steve largent types....
  25. it's possible we wouldn't have been in a 4th and 20 with EJ. He may have marched us right down the field. Or not.
