  1. I think the league that we are in together worked out a little screwy...all the weak teams in one division kind of screwed you out of a playoff spot IMO. Also, the seeding for the second round is fugged... Dustin (#1 seed) should be playing Andrew (#6 seed), while Charly (#2 seed) should be playing Tag (#4 seed)...but that is just me I guess. I am pulling for Charly all the way! Good luck in the other 3 leauges. Playing for money in any of them? Good luck...crazy thing about FF... I had Cam Newton as my QB this week... he got me 45 points...my oppenent (with a very solid roster) had a sub-par week at pretty much every position...except that damn Seahawks D! Would love to try a keeper leauge some year... Not just any chump can win the Austex league!
  2. I hate to say it, but I think the Bills are going to get drilled on Sunday. I don't even think the Sehawks are a great team, but, as much as I don't like the guy, Pet Carroll gets his guys to play. Plus, they seem to have this bad tendancy to realize their is little hope for the season, about a month after the rest of us already figured it out, and get drubbed...the way players are publicly speaking out (Spiller giving vocal support to Gailey, etc) makes me think the team is starting to feel the walls closing in on this season... The Bills just seem to come up small whenever pride is on the line. I suspect they barely show up for the game in Toronto, lose a dull one to Miami, and then, they beat the Jets the last week of the season....and then talk about how it was "important to go out on a winnning note", and how beating the Jets will "set the tone for next season", "send the loyal fans, the best fans in the world, off on a winnig note", yadda yadda yadda..and it will leave those who want to blieve in them (I am one of them) with just that slightest twinge of hope that maybe they are getting a little better...it is becoming all too familiar.
  3. I got eliminated, thanks, mostly to an ungodly performance by the Seattle Seahawks defense...who would ever expect a defense to come up with 51 pts? It was a fun season...now going through withdrawl... Anyone still in the hunt?
  4. Make that the older, cooler, smarter, wiser, and intellectual brother to Star Wars! Nanu nanu!
  5. Oh well, whoever it turns out to be, it is kind of cool, in this day and age, when there is actual intrigue about something like this!
  6. I think she is the character played by Sally Kellerman in "Where No Man Has Gone Before" Carolyn Dehner. The "cute blonde" you refer to is kind of decked out like Dehner (same color uni, hair style)...of course, other speculation is that the bad guy is going to be Charlie X...remember that kid? Rand would play a factor in his story. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDTGUIXdftU According to EW, the villans name will be John Harrison... http://www.eonline.com/news/370235/star-trek-into-darkness-spoiler-alert-benedict-cumberbatch-villain-revealed-sort-of
  7. Let me get things back on course: Yes, of course Stevie is playing scared...scared that he will spend his whole NFL career without a legit HC or QB to throw him the ball...
  8. ****....how am I supposed to remember that? Hmm...liked it a lot, don't get me wrong...but I can think of a few multi-episode story archs from Next Generation (The Best of Both Worlds- introduced the Borg, by far, IMO, the best post orignal addition to the Trek universe, other than 7 of Nines' spandex) and Deep Space Nine that were pretty outstanding.
  9. Cam should still be considered, at least, borderline elite. He is pretty amazing...now that Rivera is starting to realize he is likely going to lose his job, he is handing the offense back over to Newton, and he has been tremendous the last month or so...I'd take him in a heartbeat. As for Ben Roethlisberger, I don't know if he is elite, but to me, he would be the ideal QB for the Bills.
  10. I guess this one is based on the characters from the original (second) pilot "Where No Man Has Gone Before"...the episode with Sally Kellerman. Gary Mithcell didn't have a british accent in that one!
  11. Yeah...should have heede your advice...I would only need 33 points tonight from Welker. Thanks for all your advice...I had planned, earlier in the week to play Gordon (per your advice) but then, every FF "expert" on ESPN/NFL Network had Brown as their "must start" or "#1 Flex" option of the week...I'm a dope, what can I say...I know, from past experience that these guys are almost never right, but I still listen to them...
  12. Right...nowadays, everyone wants to be first, they don't care if they are accurate with the information. They can get the details down later...
  13. Yeah...while at work I check the ESPN website for the same thing...but then I realize, it may not be as big a headline as the latest Tim Tebow thought. That, to me, was the one good thing that came out of the whole Terrell Owens experiment...I think TO's outburst (his only in Buffalo) after that Titans loss is what finalluy shamed the Bills into pulling the plug on the Jauron era. If only they would re-sign TO to do the job on Gailey now!
  14. While I agree with your overall point (ie: another coach could get many more wins with Fitz), the difference between Fitz and Flacco is that JF has one thing he does very well...throws the long ball. It is the intermediate stuff he struggles with at times. Fitzs' struggles can come from any where at any time...ironically, the Ravens (9-4) fired their OC today, after a two game losing streak. I don't love Flacco, but he is substantially better than our guy.
  15. Officiating gets worse by the week....check out this call againsts the Bengals yesterday... http://nesn.com/2012/12/bengals-justifiably-upset-after-horrible-call-on-reggie-nelson-once-again-exposes-officiating-inconsistencies/ Goodell says, by the year 2015, he would like to eliminate defense from the game altogehter!
  16. Looks pretty good....comes out in May! In the future, it appears, all villans will have a Brit accent!
  17. I used to listen to the postgame show...but honestly, as bummed out as I was about the loss of the week, Gailey's answers to questions got me even more depressed. He really is in a bubble...it's almost like he has some other agenda, which doesn't include winning football games, but can't come out and say it...like a politician that is speaking garbage. What is worse, I admit, I was hoodwinked during Chan's first season and a half...I found his "honesty" refreshing...the offense had been so unberable to watch while Jauron was in charge, that the flair Chan braught to the offensive side was kind of exciting...but it is getting stale now. I mean, the team faced a ton of criticism (and rigthfully so) for drafting CJ Spiller in 2010...it was seen as a self-indulgent pick for an "offensive genious" whose new team had so many other more immediate needs...then, Chan brings him alons so slowly, because, he says "he isn't ready yet"...so three years later, the guy is bursting at the seams, and still doesn't get the ball (despite all visual evidence that he gives the team the best chance to win games) because he is "winded", or "gassed" after 8 freaking touches? Chan just has to go...even last week, when he finally seems to 'get it" and the team rolls over a very bad Jags team, you think, "okay, better late than never"...so what do we get? Another game of Fitz dinking and dunking, and another (and I count 4 such games this year) where Chan calls a game that plays to his own teams weaness, rather than their strenghts..and another very winnable game falls into the loss column. In the end, I don't hate Ryan Fitzpatrick, and I think a real NFL calliber OC could win more games with the talent we have. Also, I love what Fred Jackson does for the Bills, but you can't have a head coach who is worrying about appeazing guys, to the detriment of the team winning games. Chan has completely lost me...and I used to be a fan. I am okay with what Buddy Nix has done...I do think this is a better team than the one he took over, despite the record. But, he has to make a change at the head coach spot.
  18. Nice piece that ESPN did on the night Lennon died, a couple years ago. I remember I was watching the MNF game (it had implications for the Bills)...about a minute before Cosell made the announcement, my sister came barrelling out of her bedroom to tell me what had happened...of course, I didn't believe her...then when Howard confirmed it, my dad (a cop) said "probably a drug deal gone bad!" Interesting off-air conversation between Cosell and Gifford included. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6zcRPp8zVg
  19. Cam Cameron just got canned in Baltimore today!
  20. Real men of genious?
  21. I'll take one of these, one of a kind! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HfbRdclvkM
  22. At this point, it looks like Gailey will be back, unless Mr Wilson decides to fire both Nix and Gailey. It is pretty tough to see a light at the end of the tunnel...
  23. Wow... I am not a Fitz hater, and I think a good head coach could likely win more games with him (and a healthier mix of Jackson/Spiller), but I really think Fitz inaccuracy contributes migthily to the ineffectiveness of our receivers. Fitz is streaky, and I prefer him to our last few QB's, but make no mistake, he is not the answer for this team. I also think TJ Graham would be rolling up some significant yardage if he had a QB who could get him the ball...the kid is pretty much always open down field...but the QB can't get the ball to him...I can't help but think he would be putting up a big game every few weeks in places like Detroit, Green Bay, Carolina...he is a home-run hitter waiting for a pitch.
  24. I saw two reveiws that said the movie was "unfocused" and mentioned that Gandolfinins' storyline threatens to derail the overall movie...sorry can't remember more...but I also saw some great reviews...I just think sometimes people miss the point. Another complaint seemed to be that the movie takes place in New Orleans, as opposed to Boston (I think) where the novel it is based on (Cogan's Trade) takes place...I have never read the book, so I am not sure exactly why this was such an issue. The reveiwer seemed to think that Boston was like a "character" in the novel, and it lost something making that character New Orleans.
  25. I have heard varying opinions on this movie. From awful to excellent...I am inclined to lean more toward the "excellent" side...but I have not seen it. Curious too...a local movie reviewer (who I never agree with) gave it a bad review...but I sometimes question whether she actually has seen the movies she reviews, or, if she is bright enough to understand them. I actually think Pitt is a pretty good actor, and is usually in decent movies...and I read something that said that, essentially, James Gandolfini deserves some Oscar consideration for this movie, but he won't get it, because people will view it as him playing Tony Soprano all over again.
