  1. Yep, all of them are mainly pocket QBs, not read option guys. You need a guy who can stay in the pocket more than relying on his legs. I know there's a trend in the opposite direction, but the elite QBs also don't get pounded on every other play.
  2. My hope of making the playoffs pretty much ended while watching us lose to the Jets in week one. Before that I hoped that the Bills would win 10 games. I wonder what you thought the win total would be before the season started (when we had only beaten one team with a winning record). Winning as many games in the last quarter of this season can't hurt. It can only help. Beating the Rams can't hurt. Beating what most people think is a good Seattle team would be good. But especially beating the Dolphins and the Jets would show that we can win in our division on a regular basis. Yes, I agree that we're not good until we can beat better teams, but we have to beat the other losers, too. Every one of them. This team has enough trouble attarcing free agents. You want to see them lose more games to make it more difficult? You can't only build talent though the draft.
  3. Nix said that he wanted to upgrade other positions before getting a QB and I believe him. I just don't know if he can identify a QB prospect when it is his turn to make a pick. Was he ignoring the position in favor of upgrading other areas or was he missing out on legitimate prospects?
  4. So what's your point? That we need to beat these teams and we also need to beat the other teams we play? I agree.
  5. Only if you say "at the end of the day it is what it is", then it works. Go out and make that popular.
  6. Sanchez totally sucks. He is bad. Seems to hate getting hit more than any other quarterback. Freaks out if his first option isn't open and is likely to throw it into coverage anyway. When the talent around him went down, it became obvious that he could not make up the difference. I wouldn't put him on a practice squad. I'll be happy if the Jets keep him.
  7. Win every game. Why would anyone want to see anything less? Winning breeds confidence and confidence breeds resilience. People complain that we only beat teams with losing records. Is it better to lose to them? Winning gets free agents to want to come play here. Our own free agents will want to stay. Winnning gets coaches to want to come coach here. Or our coaches stick around and we don't have to blow things up every three years. Winning gets fans to pay for tickets so the team stays here. And I'll add another thing. Especially win against the Dolphins and the Jets so that the division knows that they can't just pencil in a "w" when they see us on the schedule.
  8. I like Brooks and I think he will turn out to be solid. If teams are going to avoid Gilmore and throw to the other side, it would be nice if Brooks can eventually get comfortable enough to make plays on the ball. That's the gripe about McKelvin, who can stick with his man but has no ability to knock down or intercept the ball.
  9. I would have been a Raiders fan. I liked Stabler and Belitnikoff when I was a kid. I would have regretted it once I figured out that Al Davis was a nut.
  10. They will beat the Jets. The Jets will draft ahead of us and take the guy we need. Then that guy will haunt us twice a year for a decade.
  11. If a player is called for offensive pass interference then the offense loses as many yards as the infraction occurred downfield, just like defensive PI calls.
  12. Sanchez made those championship games when the offense was dumbed down for him and he had a lot more talent around him. As soon as the Jets tried to add more he lost it and his confidence went too. Now he is a mental case. As for the OP, 8-8 is an improvement, sure. But when a lot of people expected 10-6 or 9-7 then it feels empty. The Jets game showed that we were not ready for the season to start. The Tennessee game was frustrating. The second Pats game ripped my heart out because I felt like it would have made up for those other two losses.
  13. Why boycott? They won't care you if you go and they won't care if you stay home. If I still lived in the area and already had tickets, I would go. Remember 2 and 14 seasons and when Ronnie Harmon was our star player? Times have been worse. I know I risk sounding like a tool, but show some support for the players and even the coaching staff. Do you think they're not trying? Do you think that the other teams just show up and act like cardboard cutouts? I'm really just as pissed off as anyone else about the results this year and the stupid coaching moves, but I would still go to the games if I had a chance.
  14. I think Nix should stay at this point for one more round of stocking up on depth and to figure out what head coach would fit the personnel that he has already put into place. If Chan goes then Fitz can go with him because the team won't need a QB who needs to know Chan's system. Change Defensive Coordinator, too, but bring in someone who will run primarily a 4-3 because who wants to make that switch again. As for finding a head coach, I can't imagine that it would be so difficult as most here have described. Going into the season, a lot of people had the Bills as a playoff contender and the pieces are almost in place. There are obvious limits in the decisionmaking every game and any good coach could see this team as only a good coach away.
