As many here at PPP are keenly aware, the forum is often subjected to a furious barrage of shlit posting on a daily basis. Our lead analyst, Big Balls, has been working hard to outline the parameters of what constitutes a shlit post barrage. We are now prepared to share these metrics. Please use this guide to document any shlit post barrage events in the shlit post observation thread. 1. A single poster must bump >5 threads at a rate of one thread bumped every 120 seconds. So five threads bumped in less 10 minutes is the minimum for the first metric to be satisfied. 2. #1 alone does not constitute a shlit post barrage. At the same time >75% of the bumped threads must be bumped from beyond page one of PPP. Once both #1 and #2 are satisfied, the shlit post barrage clock has officially begun. 3. The shlit post barrage continues until the elapsed time from last bumped thread exceeds 0.5x the total elapsed time of the barrage. Example of shlit post barrage: 8 threads bumped in 14 minutes. 7 of 8 threads bumped from beyond page one. Shlit post barrage clock begins. SPB T0 from initial post 14 minutes ago. Two more threads are bumped at SPB+3, SPB+6. Therefore total time of barrage is now 20 minutes (14+6). Ten minutes pass before next thread bump. (20*0.5) and the barrage is considered officially over after 20 minutes. SPB T=20.
