Only the Bills would hire a coach the Lions didn't want.

Some good points for sure. You could also add that the starting RB will miss the first few games, and almost certainly the O-line will have 2 or three new starters, or starting different players at three positions. We'll have to endure the old "time to gel" posts that are not doubt being crafted now. In addition, NFL defenses seemed to figure out Schonert's offense very quickly last year, and I don't think they'll have that benenfit again at the start of the season. 6-10 is my best scenario.
-
And that is almost certain to continue. It took 11 wins last year to make the cut, and the AFC East is going to be brutal this year.
-
Not so. Ralph was reportedly furious with Ol' Whitey's drafting of tiny wide receiver Parrish with the Bills first pick in '05, which again reportedly was the final straw and led to Donahoe's ultimate demise.

"I do, I offer a complete and utter retraction. The imputation was totally without basis in fact, and was in no way fair comment, and was motivated purely by malice, and I deeply regret any distress that my comments may have caused you, or your family, and I hereby undertake not to repeat any such slander at any time in the future." A Fish Called Wanda I may never again refererence the Bills DB draft history!

Don't confuse your perception with reality. The Buffalo Bills have drafted more DBs in the last three years than all but 2 other teams in the NFL. That's high. The Buffalo Bills have drafted more DBs rounds 1 - 4 the last three years than any team in football. That's more than high. The average NFL team over the last three years, '06/'07/'08 , has drafted 2.5 DBs in the first four rounds, Buffalo has drafted 5. That's 2 x the average. Over the past three years, NO other team in the NFL has drafted more high round DBs than the Bills, and in fact the Bills do so at approx. a 2 : 1 ratio. They do it a lot. Don't say "statistics", and "not accurate", and "perception", when you are incorrect and not stating facts OR numbers. Either you don't really understand statistics, or your math is off, or you are intellectually dishonest. http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showt...chart&st=20

But, a couple people on this board posted on my thread just yesterday that the Bills don't draft many DBs?
-
Right. Since 1996 the Bills have drafted 16 O-linemen that I counted. Nine (9) in the sixth or seventh rounds. The Bills personnel guys are historically so bad at O-linemen, if I were Ralph, I would tell my daughter or whoever is making these picks to just: 1. Cut out the pictures of the top 10 O-linemen at each position from any highly rated scouting services publication. 2. Glue them to a wall. The same wall preferably. 3. Draw straws to see who gets to throw the dart. 4. If you miss the wall, you don't draft an O-lineman that round. 5. If a lineman you have glued to the wall is taken by another team, he comes off the wall. 6. If a lineman you hit with a dart is selected by the Bills, he comes off the wall. 7. If the draft is still going and you still have pictures on the wall, keep throwing darts. 8. If all the pictures come off the wall, and the draft is still on the television, you draft someone else, that's NOT a DB. 2006 - Buffalo Bills Rd Sel # Player Position School 5 143 Brad Butler T Virginia 7 216 Terrance Pennington T New Mexico 7 248 Aaron Merz G California 2005 - Buffalo Bills Rd Sel # Player Position School 4 122 Duke Preston C Illinois 6 197 Justin Geisinger G Vanderbilt 2004 - Buffalo Bills Rd Sel # Player Position School 7 207 Dylan McFarland T Montana 2003 - Buffalo Bills Rd Sel # Player Position School 5 151 Ben Sobieski G Iowa 2002 - Buffalo Bills Rd Sel # Player Position School 1 4 Mike Williams T Texas 7 215 Mike Pucillo G Auburn

Will you give Trent Edwards some space this year?
San-O replied to joe w bags's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do you even WATCH the games? Losman and Peters were the cornerstones of the Bills, or wait, they're not. -
Right. I actually remember one specific play last year, I think it was Kelsay, maybe Denney, but they finally got INTO the backfield, the QB or back made a change of direction and the DE looked like they were on roller-skates. It was really pretty funny. Strange how some plays stick out in your mind.

My first thought was no, he'll be in his third year and should show somthing like an NFL starter as the season progresses. Then I thought, Jauron is getting a pass, a three year pass in my opinion, so why shouldn't T.E. get a pass this year as well? The biggest issue with T.E. IMO is his ability to stay healthy. He simply can't. Flame away. -

Looking at the Bills depth chart as of today
San-O replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just out of curiosity, which is opinion, and which is fact? What's your take on the DB drafting topic after seeing this, because a couple of the posters say that Buffalo drafting a lot ot DBs is not true, then ALSO present stats saying noone has drafted more DBs than the Bills over the last 3 years. -
So, they TAZED him because of his car and his bank account?

Who has drafted MORE DBs than the Bills (7) since 2006? Do you understand the question? -

Did you know your tone is annoying? Did you know five (5) is more than 4, and 3? Almost certainly seven (7) is. Did you know I was referring to the drafts starting with 2006? Did you know the Bills have drafted only one (1) O-lineman not in the 7th round over that time? Do you know if anybody has drafted more DBs than the Bills since 2006? Do you know if anybody has drafted fewer O-linemen than the Bills since 2006? -

San-O replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Right. I really don't see how they possibly could, but you never know. That would be three (3) first round picks in the secondary. -
The depth chart looks kind of a mess right now, as nobody knows for sure what is going to happen with the O-line, and D-line is again a major need area at least at DE as I see it. There are 4 starters from the Ol' Whitey era that I count, so the Bills front office has basically re-made the team over the past three years. I fully expect Kelsay to be replaced or gone, so that number may even go down. What has really changed? Looks a lot the same to me. Buffalo has also drafted 7 DB's in the past three years, five (5) on day 1 or round 4. Do we expect this DB envy to change? Buffalo has draft zero (0) O-linemen day 1 over that same span. I'm not really sure.

Ok, It's That Time Of Year Again To Define The Meaning
San-O replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. Everyone is making some good points, but I also think the definition changes a bit when you're talking about a top 10 or so pick. You can't take a guy in the top 10 or 15, just because you want him and he won't be around when you are next on the clock. -

Whitner was absolutely a reach at # 8, when the selection was made, and one can see why. There were analysts all over that couldn't figure that pick out, and were basically baffled. -
If the Bills were to trade Jason Peters and drafted a OT
San-O replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So, why aren't teams falling all over themselves to trade for him? -
And that about covers it!

If Peters stays, do we still draft for the O-line??
San-O replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kinda funny, expect it's true. The Bills are so bad at drafting O-linemen, and they realize this, that they simply don't do it. That's why every year they try to pick up someone elses leftovers, this year being no exception with 2 already on the roster, or overpay for someone the think is good and really isn't. They rarely draft anything higher than # 7, seemingly like a child who's had their hand slapped one too many times for reaching into the cookie jar. The F.O./Ralph should can the whole lot of them just for the annual display of ineptitude re: building an O-line alone. IMHO. YEAR # Taken Round(s) =============================== 2008 1 round 7 2007 none 2006 2 round 7 2005 2 round 4 (Preston) round 7 2004 1 round 7 2003 1 round 5 2002 2 round 1 (Mike Williams) round 7 -
