  1. help me understand why going out partying heavy and late, coupled with the likely hangovers, lack of sleep, reduced concentration, coordination, etc. doesn't hurt their playing skills (at all) the next day...
  2. Guess what, it ain't Ralph Wilson. Nix has said multiple times that he doesn't believe in signing top-tier Free Agents. IMO, if Buddy said to Ralph, "we need to spend the money to get this guy", he would've agreed. Both Nix and Gailey believe in building through the draft. You can argue with their philosophy, but it is what it is and until you're the GM, deal with it.
  3. Also, Skoobydum, you should select the text you quoted from the article and click the ballon icon (insert quotation). That makes it easy to see that you're quoting from the article and not adding your opinion. Yes, I realize you add " ", just saying...
  4. answered earlier, part of a to be implemented reputation system on another note, when I clicked on the earlier post's URL (upper right corner), I was asked to temporarily allow scripted windows. Is there an IE 8 setting to always allow this function?
  5. yeah, I don't disagree, but as been pointed out many times, TE is, for the most part, the best QB in OTAs, mini-camps, and TC, but wilts when the real bullets start flying. I agree with Alphadawg that 1 preseason game isn't enough to can him, but after 2 starts, he better show a huge improvement in that department or changes have to made. The real question is what will Chan do if TE shows the same behavior on Thursday.
  6. well, not exactly, he was replaced with 2:54 left in the 4th... I sit corrected, but stand by the original premise that Jauron didn't pull TE and gain any wins before being canned and one could argue that not pulling TE earlier in the season cost him his job...
  7. umm, Jauron was fired on 11/17, after the Bills got crushed by the Titans and TE was still the starter... Interim coach Perry Fewell then replaced TE with Fitz for the rest of the season.
  8. that, in a nutshell, is the problem with Trent... He plays well in practice and is noticeably better than the other QBs. However, once the defense brings the heat, he wilts. I guess it's possible to overcome that, and certainly would be helped by better protection, but it's in his head and he's played that way since the last concussion.
  9. let's say that Fitz had less talent coming at him than Trent did... How can you possibly believe TE stood up under pressure and Fitz didn't? Do you have enough of those drugs for everyone?
  10. You might be the only person that believes that... After the 1st series, Trent played scared and retreated into last year's player. He completed just one pass after that. Fitz looked like crap for a couple series and then settled down. He made multiple 1st downs and led the team down the field. Did you watch the TD pass to Nelson? He avoided the pressure, got away, made the pass! Fitz wasn't great, but he was the one that stood up to the pass rush, not TE.
  11. I think Gailey could hand over the reins to Fitzpatrick, regardless of salary, if he thinks he needs to draft a QB next year. The reason is that he knows what's he's got; Brohm and Brown, not so much. It becomes less about money and more about having enough skills to carry the team until he gets his franchise QB.
  12. yeah, unfortunately you're right on the money That's a moot point if you're afraid of the pressure and totally wilt. The difference is that Fitz can slide around and avoid the pass rush. Not so sure. If Chan is paying attention, he's starting to realize that before live bullets start flying, Trent was the man. Now that he can see Trent completely falls down under pressure, he may rethink who he wants under center. Or maybe he'll put him in a shotgun to give him another second or 2 to make a decision.
  13. This is what I thought as well. TE had a good 1st series with the starters, then Washington started putting pressure on him and he went back to his typical mode of playing scared. Yes, of course he had lousy protection most of the time, but so did Fitz and Brown. Then Fitz comes in and he looks like crap for a couple series. After that he settles down and plays decent with the same poor protection. Definitely nod to Fitz, by a long shot.
  14. I wasn't keying on Maybin by watching him carefully, but despite some bad plays, he was in the Skins backfield all night long. Is he a great (or even good) NFL LB? No, not yet. Will he ever earn his pay and become worthy of his draft position? I have no clue, but he was trying hard and pressuring the QB at times. Yes, he played the whole game, but you can't question his effort. Give him some time to learn and I think he's gonna change some of the TBD opinions by late season. I also think Trent Williams will become well known for tossing around LBs of various body shapes this season. He's damn good so far.
  15. an undisclosed lower body injury, CG said he would b out for about 10 days about 3 days ago
  16. either Kenny Alberts or Joe Theisman said last night that most of Shanahan's practices consisted of a 2.5-3 hr morning practice and an afternoon walkthrough, and no 2-a-days (with pads and hitting). Of course they're biased as hell, but there were numerous on-air references to how fresh the Skins looked and how beat and tired the Bills appeared. Anyone watching the game would probably say the same thing. I'm not saying Chan is too tough, but it sure looked to me like the Skins were in better physical shape. And (so far) no injuries to their starters through OTAs, mini-camps and TC. Not sure what this means, but doesn't look so good for CG's this is a tough game for tough people approach.
  17. This article was based on Mark Gaughan's Billboard. It's good to get positive (national) press, but not like it was based on any real reporting, the norm for PFT.
  18. I was going to say exactly the same thing. +1 +1 Smerlas loves to hear himself talk negatively about most everything. but, overall good article JW. just a suggestion for a followup, maybe during the preseason, ask other ex FO, coaches, ex players where they see it...
  19. well, Austin has been a boom town for at least a decade, with lots of money to have your friend install nice stone work. It's understandable that a free-falling economy would kill off business like that.
  20. Maybe it's more about hiding the execution and the players, not necessarily the playbook and since they have no film on this year's team (yet), there's a lot to be learned by watching the action on the TC field. BTW, where do you get your information that all the playbooks are all the same? Seems to me that an NFL team playbook is one of the most secretive and closely-held documents in all of sports.
