  1. maybe he didn't get dollars or euros, but Pegula's company received $4.7B in cash considerations, which is pretty close. For you to say his net worth is basically on paper isn't really accurate.
  2. it's all conjecture, but I could imagine a scenario where TG contacts RW and says, words to the effect of, if the situation arises where a new prospective owner appears to want to buy the team and move it out of WNY, please have your family contact me, because I have a strong interest in keeping the team in Buffalo...
  3. IMO, this is a great hire, but I have a question... What happens to Bob Sanders, the OLB coach? Does he report to the Stache? or is he polishing up his resume?
  4. The owners get a big chunk of change from the networks and DirectTV regardless if the games are played or not, and don't pay player salaries or benefits , along with reduced expenses in many cases (if there's no deal). They play hardball and the NFLPA, or whatever new union succeeds them, need to compromise, in order to maintain their lifestyles, provide for their families, etc. How do the owners take it on the chin, outside of the court of public opinion? I agree that might be a huge PR problem for the league, but the owners will get most of what they want. Simply because they can outlast the other much more comfortably, while of course, making less money then they would have if there wasn't a lockout.
  5. plus the author totally discounts the rookie contract issue as if it's just a percentage of total revenue and nothing more good information in the article, but very partisan on the players side
  6. Usually you have good insight in your posts, but this one, IMO, is really off base. Edwards clearly won the starting QB job in training camp, it wasn't even close. If he was being showcased at any level, why cut him? As for Lynch being showcased, there's been a lot of people have made that leap. I guess it's possible, but Chan seems so hell bent on winning, I find it hard to believe. If you combine that with a recent report that the Bills didn't shop Lynch, why would they showcase him if they weren't going to shop him to any and all teams? We'll never know, but it sounds even less likely now than it did before. In the case of Wanni, Adam Schefter seems confident that it's an ass't HC position, not a DC... and .
  7. to simply divide his rookie contract of $29M by the number of years, and compare it with a report that says the Bill's offer is $5M a year offer and he's looking for ~$7M, is just too big of a leap. Who knows what bonus, guaranteed money, escalators, etc. are included with the new deal. Nix explained the reason they gave Kelsay an extension, was that he was a part of a core group of players that showed the character of the team. You probably won't get much argument from the Bills staff that Kelsay is better at a '4-man front DE' than a standup OLB, but they didn't pay him because of his progress at learning a new position.
  8. RW and his handlers also realize that Buffalo fans come out to support a winning and/or competitive team. Having a big draw like TO doesn't hurt, but most of the downturn in ticket sales (IMO) is due to a poor product on the field and in some part, the economy. If Nix and Gailey continue to improve the team's performance, the fans will sell out RWS, with or without a star skill player. Nobody outside OBD, the Ralph C. Wilson Agency, Inc., or his family know how he still feels about the QB situation given how this season has played out. Also, this business of Littman and Overdorf making all the decisions is old news and there's literally no proof that Nix and his staff (Whaley, Gailey, etc.) aren't in the driver's seat. Of course RW has his hands in it and that will never change. Complain about the drafting, coaching staff, FA acquisitions, and other tangible issues all you want, but you should really turn the Littman and Overdorf Are Running The Show record over.
  9. interesting article on how Bob Kraft parlayed a lease on the old Foxboro parking lots into owning the Pats, etc.
  10. not a chance unless Roscoe self destructs between now and September
  11. Fred Jackson has been nominated for FedEx Ground Player of the Week on nfl.com. Cast your vote for Freddie...
  12. good point... We screamed about Trentative's lack of confidence to throw the ball into coverage and it was totally justified. Now we have a QB who's willing to take chances with throwing into tight windows, like the pass to Lee Evans with 2-3 defenders around him in the Raven's game. In this case Lee makes the catch, but sometimes plays like that turn into INTs. We can't have it both ways and hopefully the number of TDs far exceeds the INTs.
  13. ok, but JW's article is (currently) correct, so not sure who messed up...
  14. not sure if JW made changes to the original posting, the article with his byline is correct, but the OP's link is just listed as an AP article is wrong. So maybe someone at Yahoo got it wrong when they referenced JW's... But to blame JW is not cool, based on what's online right now...
  15. IMO, it's less about changing their natural position and grooming them to play multiple roles on the line, in case they're needed.
  16. I totally don't get this statement Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the rookie wage scale one of, if not the top issue, that the owners want to address in the CBA? It's off the charts and the $50M guaranteed money for Bradford is a good example. Seems like it will have to change radically or the owners won't budge. Of course they will likely have to give up something else to get the rookie scale where they want it, like a bigger cut of the TV revenues (for example), but I think Mark is way off on this point.
  17. Nix explained the reason they gave Kelsay an extension was that he was a part of a core of several good (but not great) players that set the tone for what they want everyone else to be. it's pretty clear that, even though upgrading the OL was a priority, the guys they ranked high on their board were gone by the 9th pick. Except for Trent Williams, none of the OTs drafted after have shown much so far. This has been beat to death. Trent Edwards looked good to very good until the real bullets started flying. They believed they could coach him up and minimize his tendencies by disguising the playbook. When that didn't work, they quickly cut their losses. Arguing hindsight 20-20 is fine, but doesn't change what happened. Schobel drove them nuts with his lack of commitment. They went in a different direction based on a number of question marks and used most of their early draft picks on the defensive front 7. Please name a veteran player that was willing to come to Buffalo and that would have improved the pass rush this season... Other than hiring a proven 3-4 DC and maybe an OC, what else you got? I realize you're frustrated, we all are, but IMO they have a plan: build through the draft, recruit mid-level, experienced FAs, pay the players you think represent what you're building (on/off the field), and get rid of players that don't meet your objectives.
  18. IMO, it's from comments made by Chan during the press conference. Chris Brown does a pretty good job explaining it here so, more like a combination of trying new things and whatever offense they're facing. Clayton is grasping at straws.
