McCain's only shot is to run as an Independent. His problem is that he cannot win over the staunch party-liners of either party. He is not Dem enough for the Dems and he has ticked off the Reps by siding with the Dems on occassion. He needs to play to the moderates in hopes that it will out-weigh the staunch party-liners. It would be a tough road for him, unless he can find a good moderate to be his VP candidate (Powell?). That and to distance himself from Hillary.

Rove could still branch out. His weather machine caused the tsunami and the Katrina. All stuff involving flooding. Why not throw everyone off with a freak snowstorm? It is winter, therefore it is the perfect cover. Snow...winter...nobody would ever suspect. Brilliant!! Get 'er done, Karl!!

Why stage a "hunting accident?" Why not just have Karl Rove and his weather machine target where Whittington was going to be? It worked in New Orleans. That way, Cheney does not even have to get involved.

But, how does that play into the conspiracy theories? Let's recap the fun: 1) Cheney was drunk off his ass. 2) Cheney is trying to hide the fact that there even was a hunting accident. 3) This was actually an assassination attempt. 4) Cheney did not immediately call the WH press corps together and hold a press conference to discuss the matter, therefore it is a conspiracy. Did I miss anything?

People want to fix blame whenever something goes wrong. There are several reasons for this, including (but not limited to): 1) You need a person to blame in order to file lawsuits. 2) It makes people feel better if they can find someone to blame (other than themselves) for what happened. 3) If it is a political thingy, you can get some serious political points if you can find a way to blame the people you compete against. As far as building on experience, that is exactly what they are doing now, regarding Katrina. Hell, there is a person on this board who was responsible for finding things that went wrong so that it can be improved in the future.

It is wierd. I know that some twins like to look alike, act alike, etc. My brother and I were the opposite. We are pretty close, but we always wanted our own identities. You are right, there is something not right about their love-affair for each other.

So that he can get hammered by the press. Why else? I noticed the talking point du jour is how often Cheney holds the ever important VP press conference. Three and a half years since the last? Funny, I do not remember anyone longing for a VP press conference.

Honestly, I do not see much negotiation until the CBA is done. You need to see the structure before you can start making those types of commitments.
