Name 3 players that will not return next year
JoeF replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not on the opening day roster is a key factor... Chris Hairston Ron Brooks Marquise Goodwin -
Official NFL Rule--not allowed to use a tee... Kicking a Safety In addition to a kickoff, the other free kick is a kick after a safety (safety kick). A punt may be used (a punt may not be used on a kickoff). On a safety kick, the team scored upon puts ball in play by a punt, dropkick, or placekick without tee. No score can be made on a free kick following a safety, even if a series of penalties places team in position. (A field goal can be scored only on a play from scrimmage or a free kick after a fair catch.)

The strip, sack, safety was a Bruce Smith-like play. Mario's play the last two years has evoked memories of #78...and Mario sets the edge better against the run than #78.

Now I am ready to go home and play for the Bills!

Was his shirt split in the back or am I seeing things???? Guy should be cast as the coach in Any Given Sunday II We fight for that bargain, we kill for that bargain, life is about the bargains in front of your face...

Marrone said during his post game presser that he was optimistic because he came back and played but will be reevaluated tomorrow.

Tipster-- my thoughts exactly...here is how I sum it up.. We're from Buffalo, where we take care of our own. We're from Buffalo, where we live and die with a football team. We're from Buffalo, where we always live to fight another day. The city of Good neighbors. The city of loyal friends. The city of an illustrious past. The city of hope for a better future. No snow, no threat of moving, no 40 year bad economy can douse our spirit. No one from outside can understand our loyalty and that's just fine with us. Be it Kelly or Talley or Ferguson or whomever, when one of us is in trouble -- we come together. God bless you all my friends -- whether we reside in WNY in the flesh, in the mind or in the spirit we are One Buffalo!

Folks have different opinions on this subject as expected. I wanted to take a second, however, to thank ChevyVanMiller for setting up the GoFundMe (http://www.gofundme.com/hvkgjo) -- raised over $23,500 so far for Darryl and family.

Fred Jackson: "Whitner Dumb and an Idiot"
JoeF replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hard for me to take anything Whitner says seriously or even acknowledge his comments. He was the one who was quoted most often this summer after Ray McDonald was arrested for domestic violence. Whiter said Harbaugh's rule was you are done if you put your hands on a woman in anger. Yet Donte himself was accused of stalking and harassing his girlfriend in 2006 while no charges were brought -- he did admit some culpability. Also, we all remember when he had to be tasered in 2009 at Ted Ginn's birthday party. He has little man's syndrome...big mouth and he also has an anger management issue -- I hope he has this under control but his twitter behavior indicates otherwise. His hardest hits during his Bills years were often on his own teammates because he played out of control and out of position so often. Hard to respect a football player who plays dumb. Hard to respect a man who would harass a woman he supposedly loves. -

Susan Tedeschi and Norah Jones (Susan) If you ask me as an old guy who I like from today's popular female vocalists -- it would be Lorde..

Jimmy Johnson "Buffalo sloppy with the ball"
JoeF replied to rcatty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jimmy Johnson and Janis Joplin graduated the same year from Thomas Jefferson High School in Beaumont, TX .....not relevant -- but still interesting... Jimmy uses a lot of hair gel -- perhaps that would help with ball security. -
I think Whaley learned from this experience too. If you don't address the QB position -- nothing else really matters. When Tim Graham first reported this was a 2 year deal -- it was stated that the second year is a player option-- could Orton actually decline and try to leverage a good year into a longer term deal? The Bills may have an immediate decision to make on Orton. Also, while I wouldn't go as far as cutting EJ this off-season but I wouldn't be afraid to bring in competition for EJ and Kyle (assuming the Bills retain him)-- either a draft pick or a vet. The market may be interesting based on cuts -- you could see names like Fitz, Schaub, Josh McNown, Sanchez and some younger guys on the market. You need and want 2 guys that can win games -- the Bills are not investing much in the position right now and there is no reason with the Bills cap space, even with a raise say to $7-8M a year for Orton, to stay static at the position. Finally on EJ-- At FSU Jimbo planned around EJ's weaknesses (recognition, reads) and to his strengths. He coddled him in many ways. When EJ got to environment where coddling is not possible due to the speed of the game -- he needed time to see if he could adjust. The Bills had to throw him in right away. This is in many ways a sabbatical for EJ-- a semester as an understudy learning the pro game. There are physical things he may never be able to do but the Bills never gave him a chance to see someone who had both the mental and physical traits to succeed--he has that now--EJ deserves another chance in my opinion at some point to see if he can play. It will likely be next preseason....

A Few Thoughts About The Game, in no particular order.....
JoeF replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On to Minnesota.....just keep saying it. On to Minnesota...... Excellent analysis as always Bill. If there was ever a day to bring more pressure -- today was it...and the Bills schemed to bring less. I have heard people call for Marrone to take over play calling from Hackett-- we would have been better in the second half if someone else was calling the defense. Guess being carried off last week got to Schwartz's head. Anyone still questioning how much #23 means to the team? Hope this is a one week absence. -
Shad Khan criticizes the Bills game day experience??? WTF???
JoeF replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ummm the Jags didn't play in Buffalo last year. The Bills played them in Jacksonville -- I was at the game...maybe he's confusing us with another team. By the way-- nothing really outstanding about the Jax game experience in my book and there were as many Bills fans in attendance as Jags fans. -
So excited we are going to Buffalo and those great hotels.....

Did you just call promo a douche?

Roger Goodell Presser at 3 PM EDT: Ravens/NFL Coverup?
JoeF replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not really a lot of difference is there... He didn't even get a suspension for that. It was only his weapons charge in 2009 then a suspension and then a trade.....I guess the trade showed the team wouldn't tolerate the behavior but still if I recall there was no one forcing Marshawn to come forward with the truth from the hit and run and the team attempted to influence the outcome toward Marshawn....Its a whole new context now. Disappointed that I wasn't outraged then...... -
Roger Goodell Presser at 3 PM EDT: Ravens/NFL Coverup?
JoeF replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know this doesn't meet with the thread...but I just read the Outside the Lines on the Ravens cover up...now I am reading that John Harbaugh wanted to cut Rice immediately and Biscotti, Newsome and Cass objected...How angry, if it all, would you be if the Bills handled an identical situation the same way the Ravens did? -
To the folks who were at the game
JoeF replied to Gavin in Va Beach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Overall, the most "into-the-game" crowd I have experienced in a decade. Not a lot of goofy stuff in the stands. Loud as hell. On Spiller's return--loudest I have ever heard the stadium including the glory years and the win over the Pats three years ago.... -
http://mmqb.si.com/2014/09/12/buffalo-bills-purchase-terry-pegula/ Luke does a nice job with this. Dad, Big Russ and Uncle Bill would be proud. Like many of our children who have never lived in Buffalo --Luke's fandom has been passed down like a badge of resilience and sometimes honor. I can't wait until tomorrow -- Dolphins game, opening day, honoring Mr. Wilson, seeing a healthy Jim Kelly, cheering on an up and coming team that's going to be in Buffalo for a long time. Most of all -- 3 kids in tow who have never lived in Buffalo but are as crazy about the Bills as I am.... One excerpt from Luke: On Tuesday morning I was engaged in my day job, covering Capitol Hill for NBC News. But my mind was not focused on Speaker John Boehner talking about the role of Congress in the fight against ISIS, it was on Twitter, where Graham was now reporting he had two sources saying Pegula buying the Bills was “a done deal.” I was elated. However, being a Bills fan, I pinched myself knowing that nothing is certain until it’s totally certain (lest anybody forget the Tragedy in Tennessee, known by its “Music City” moniker outside of Western New York). It wasn’t till I got to my desk and saw the headline on the Buffalo News web page that I knew it was really happening. Then, I cried. I cried for my grandpa, my Uncle Bill and for my dad.
