  1. That's the part that really caught me. If the coaches aren't on them to throw more quickly into the routes, then they are complicit in this, IMO.
  2. Nice review, Bot. Did you hear the coaches calling out the QBs for holding the ball too long. Let the damn thing GO!
  3. There seems to be a bit of confusion here. So, in case this hasn't already been posted: http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/cointoss
  4. I got a hold of a very powerful magnifying glass today and finally found my pecker! Mine! Mine! Mine! Now to find the tweezers...
  5. Mine! Mine! Mine!
  6. Based on my reading of that article, Tucker (and the pros he referenced )were talking about the physically difficulty of playing the various line positions, NOT their importance. I skimmed the article, so if he mentions the importance somewhere I apologize, but he mentioned physical difficulty on many occasions. I have to assume that as with most things in life, what is difficult varies by individual. I have no problem with Tucker saying the consensus is that Center is the physically easiest position to play on the OL, but that doesn't mean it is for every offensive lineman. And it says nothing, really about importance. Tucker was a "can do" kind of guy and he seems like a guy who is easy to root for. But he was far from a very physically talented lineman. What was tough for him might be very different than what is tough for a great athlete. Like many here, I think Wood ends up at center at some time. But I think it's crazy talk to suggest they blow up the line and move he and Hangartner at this point in time. If they added some major talent that made it worthwhile, that would be another story. Personally I think having a health Wood on one side and Levitre on the other should help Hangartner quite a bit.
  7. My response was to the ridiculous claim that the price tag amounts to "$140,000 per student". That would only be true if it was only open for one year. Crazy attacks like that don't exactly help the discussion, as they are designed to simply cause outrage. Is it the price outrageous? Seems to be, but I don't know enough about the entire effort. Surely it didn't cost "$140,000 per student".
  8. It was a joke, Promo. I was kidding. (Although you do seem a bit obsessed with Coach Sal.)
  9. I'm convinced you ARE coach Sal.
  10. Actually I just discovered I have a few friends. I have no idea when/how that happened, or if I am a friend in their list. And seeing as how these bastards snuck onto my list, I agree I need to keep my eye on them.
  11. I thought it was clear what you were getting at (after the clarification) but I KNEW someone wouldn't be able to put 2 + 2 together (and get to 4, that is). Here's the thing. Sometimes that biggest contract ever is only the biggest for a year, or so. So Nate Clements might qualify in this category. He isn't the best CB in football, but he is now nowhere near the highest paid, either. Winfield is clearly a guy who delivered on his big contract (don't know if it was the biggest at the time). The problem is some people think if you get the biggest contract, you should have to be the best at that position. That simply doesn't jive with the reality of the NFL. As already mentioned, one year's huge contract is merely large a couple of years later. Or, a very good FA might be worth more to a team desperate for a player at that position than to the team he was with, or a team who already has a "better" player under contract. Actually Clements is the perfect example for my previous point. He wasn't worth that kind of $$ to the Bills, as the Bills had very capable DBs to take over. OTOH, Clements is still a fine CB, and isn't anywhere near the highest paid CB in the league (at least I don't think he is anymore). To a young D, desperate for a veteran quality CB, Nate might have been worth that kind of investment. One can't judge these things in a vacuum and w/o CONTEXT.
  12. Yes, eventually I think the Bills will be better off with Wood at center. But now I don't think they have anyone to take over for Wood at guard/
  13. The point, I think, is there can always be a comparison between two things. Comparing two things doesn't mean equating two things.
  14. I'm with you. I have been on too many sites where it is out of control. And with youtube vids, it doesn't take much. One vid, in an oft quoted post can really foul a thread, pronto. I agree people should edit the quotes in the replies, but they don't, and likely won't. Since we have been without all that crap for so long, I suspect it won't be as bad as many sites, but will feel worse to us, as are used to having the cleanest board out there. I don't know what I am looking for there, Fearless Leader. I see nothing that identifies it as a public (and not private). Of course, I voted a while back. So it isn't there anymore, or I am missing it. So in this case, legwork didn't help at all. Thanks, Levi. When I voted I don't recall getting any warning. I may have just missed it at the time...it was early. I'll be on the lookout next time.
  15. Will the voters know if the poll is private or public?
  16. Not much, really. C Biscuit said "There is no comparison between the 2", but had just made a comparison between the two. It was just silly, really, I saw him play quite a bit while he was at Stanford, and I remember him being quite talented and the team being quite awful.
  17. At least you got it.
  18. So, was this the conversation you had this morning, with your wife? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1oHKawcJQE&feature=fvw Congrats!
  19. When you noted that Trent was a 3rd rounder and Locker might be the #1 overall, you know what you did? You made a comparison between the two.
  20. Yes, in the future I will. But if others don't do it, it won't make much difference. Isn't there a way to turn that off in replies and just leave the link?
  21. I'm just posting to see if the youtube vid appears in the quote. It didn't look like that was happening before, but I see one in a quote on this thread. So, what gives? OK, it showed up. Yeech!
  22. What's very good is the images (previews) and youtube vids aren't repeated in the quotes of replies. That gets old REAL fast. EDIT: I just noticed that, while the preview images aren't shown in quoted replies, the youtube vids are. And, I will repeat, that gets old fast. BTW, is it just youtube that embeds or any video site (metacafe, dailymotion, etc)? I'm thinking this was already fixed by SDS. If not I can't figure out what the issue is in that thread.
  23. I think the reason high draft picks get more time, and many chances, is mostly due to the talent they showed that made them a high draft pick. Coaches see the talent and think they can find a way to harness that and make the player productive. IMO, of course.
  24. Thanks. As for editing the subject, I don't have any threads started in my name, so I can't test it. I assume you did and it is all hunky dory. Thanks, again.
