I'd guess the discussion can happen any number of ways. But as has been pointed out, never discount the good old boy network. You may owe the GM of another team on making a trade easy by throwing in a 6th rounder last time, or agreeing on some conditional terms quickly. Agents may even be involved in some of these deals. But in general I think a GM picks up the phone and calls a team/teams he thinks are likely to want to make a trade. He may even ask the player if he has a preference and maybe the agent has some of the early discussions. And Nix may be disliked or untrusted, but I think it's more likely he is simply new to the GM position. Yes he was assistant GM and very involved in SD (so he has experience) but he wasn't The Man there so other GMs probably don't owe him any favors or don't have an established working relationship with him. Just a thought.

I just found out that Widespread Panic is playing down the street from my on October 1st. Have never seen them live. Seen live videos and they sound pretty damn good. Anyone here seen them live? Was it great? Best band name, IMO (along with "Tragically Hip"). Also, and this is a longer shot. A band called Soulgrass Rebellion is coming to a local bar later in the month. I wasn't thrilled with what I heard/saw on youtube, but there wasn't much and the quality of the vids was generally poor. There is something there that seems interesting. They have also recorded and played with some interesting and talented players. Anyone know their stuff? Seen em live?

Indeed. In that video of one of Revis' INTs against the Bills, that gets shown repeatedly, Revis was beaten on the play and it was just a poor throw. Revis was in great position to pick off a poor throw. I'll give him that.

I just heard a rundown on Jake's first outing on the radio on my way home, and they basically said the same things as you. Flashes of great talent. Iffy decision making. Some accuracy issues. Work in progress and a decent 1st game.

Let's for a second say this is correct (I don't believe it is). Why just change guys, particularly QBs, at this point in time? If the guy isn't likely to be better, he comes in with no knowledge of the playbook, missing all the time working with the WRs, etc. It's a moronic way to do business. Already back-peddling? Betting they wouldn't win more than 5 is a bit different than predicting they would go 5-11. Betting on 5 or under seems like something you would do if you predicted the team would go, say, 3-13.

Aren't the posters (and publications) who guess zero wins, 3-13, etc, just as stupid as, say The Senator with his annual 19-0 prediction? The same grumpy posters who say they will "be shocked!" if the Bills win 4 games, never post the following year saying how completely off-base they were. Instead they continue to pound away at how the Bills are the worst organization in football, how Ralph is cheap, etc. No, I'm not saying 7 or 8 wins is "good enough", but if you predict 3 or 4 and they actually win 7, you are as big of a moron as those that predict the Bills will make the playoffs, as you missed by about the same number of games. Just for context, what did you predict at the start of last year?

I was thinking the same thing before I actually saw what he wrote. It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. He didn't say he was pissed at the coach, or the Bills...just that he was pissed.

As underrated as they come, IMO.

By whom? The coaching staff? I think the coaching treated them both as fairly as coaching staffs do. The posters here? I don't think many were hammering Brown suggesting he is a bum and can never contribute. In fact, most wanted the Bills to either keep him on the 53 roster, or on the PS.

He should be pissed at himself, for not doing more to make the team. I still think he will end up on a PS somewhere. Of course the Brohm haters insisted Brown wouldn't be cut because he would be swooped up by another team. I guess that tells you a big about what you need to know about their ability to judge QB play.
