Avira is outstanding. Avast is also quite a bit better than AVG. Try the free version of one and see if you like it. Of the two, Avira has a better detection and cleaning rate and you don't have to register (just uncheck everything on the registration page when installing and hit Next). I recommend you do a Custom Install. Check "Select All" when given a list of what you want to be protected against (for some reason that isn't the default) and then select Secure Start. By default it updates once a day (I advise scheduling it to do a complete system scan once a week). It updates invisibly, but opens a popup window with an ad for the paid version. You only get this ad once a day, and hitting "OK" dismisses it. You have to register Avast once a year. By default it announces when it updates, but you can turn the sound off. You also should schedule a once a week full scan. Scheduling the scan at a day/time when you aren't likely to be too busy on the computer makes life easier and both of these products have that capability. I listed some other good AV products in an early post in this thread, too. Oops. One more thing. When removing Norton, McAfee and in some cases AVG it is best to use the removal tool for the product. For Norton and McAfee don't bother with the uninstaller in Windows. Just run the respective removal tool to make sure they are properly uninstalled: http://majorgeeks.com/Norton_Removal_Tool_SymNRT_d4749.html http://majorgeeks.com/McAfee_Consumer_Product_Removal_Tool_d5420.html For AVG, use the Uninstall AVG in windows and then use this: http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools Avira and Avast need no special removal tools to be properly uninstalled.

Best Special Teamer Ever = Worst Announcer Ever
The Dean replied to eschej13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think most (if not all) local preseason announcing teams are asswipe homers. -
I loved that guy. But to be fair, Scott never said we couldn't start a thread. That's why I asked him if there was to be no thread. Of course, he gave me a not-so-straightforward answer (which you quoted in your post) to a question I didn't ask. I think we could have started a thread, and it would not have been taken down. But since he seemed to want the discussion to happen in the chat, I didn't start a game thread, and neither did anyone else. (I did notice some were talking about the game in the Shout Box, but that's just as useless to me as the Chat Room.) I think the gameday thread must put some undo pressure on the board itself. If not, why try to change what we clearly prefer to do on gamdeay? If it is too much for the board then I can understand the request. Hey I'm not much on authority, but it's his house and we are guests. Besides a broken down board does none of us any good. I might also suggest keeping the thread and shutting down all non-essential bells and whistles if that keeps the board running smoothly (if that is possible). But I think today illustrated that the chat room isn't the first choice for many here, and isn't a choice at all for some of us. It may be the best tool for what SDS thinks we want to do, or for what he thinks we should be doing during the game. But it clearly isn't the right tool for what many of us want to do during the game.

Best Special Teamer Ever = Worst Announcer Ever
The Dean replied to eschej13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for the correction. I even saw a post about it earlier. To tell the truth, the audio was pretty bad on my feed and the radio audio was WAY out of sync (by more than a minute I think) with the video, so I didn't really get the full experience. I know the head referee (with the microphone) sounded a little like Mitch Hedberg (RIP) on my feed. I remember thinking Kelso did a good job as an announcer, though -
Franz Kafka International Airport Gotta love The Onion

I think you'd be making a big mistake. I wouldn't use the free version any more. McAfee IS total crap. AVG is slightly better. There are too many better alternatives to them both, IMO.

The other announcer is Kelso, I think. He's good. -

He is usually wrong. Whatever he says, it is usually wrong. Too bad. He was a great Bill. -
I know. But the poster made no comment about it. It was a bit bizarre. Maybe it was meant as sarcasm.
-
But you voted to keep the thread, right? So what are you saying?
-
Well on the other hand, you can say he is quite the rooster blocker.

I guess killing dogs is worse than raping a human
The Dean replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From a legal standpoint, that is correct. -
I don't know that Brohm is better than Trent right now. But I think he has the chance to be the best of the three in the long run. For a young QB with VERY little game experience he looks quite comfortable and professional out there. He has a decent skill set, too. I have to say Trent impressed me with the QB sneak. That's the best I have ever seen him run it.

Great combo.

The Dean replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I imagine if there were some sort of evidence that he was a rapist, like a conviction or even a CHARGE, he would have been given a harsher punishment. So quit acting like you don't know the difference between ALLEGED and charged or convicted. It makes you seem as stupid as the OP. -
Yes, if it were evil, it might not fully uninstall. But like I said, I'm pretty sure it's OK. I remember having a question about it last year, and I think I decided it was fine. I'll check it out this week.

Use the Chat room NOT the Shout Box for the game...
The Dean replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A most excellent first post. -
I am seeing a lot of good things from Brian tonight. It probably isn't enough to raise him to #2 if he started the night at #3 (which I can only assume he did), but he has impressed me a bit. He has moved well in the pocket for the most part and even scrambled for 1st downs. The INT was not his fault at all, and he has had several dropped passes to kill drives. Now, he has missed a pass or two, as well. But I can't see how he has played his way out of the league. If anything I think he has shown he has real potential to play in the NFL.

No. Veetle should be in Add-Remove programs (or Uninstall Program). V-Share is there is you installed with IE, otherwise it is listed as a plugin with Firefox.

I think Veetle is fine.
