  1. No doubt. If the starters go down, they are in trouble no matter who is at QB. Was it a drop? I couldn't tell from the replay. It looked like the pass was a bit late and the DB might have gotten his hand on the ball. But if not, it definately should have been caught.
  2. Yup. Need to keep the experience Vet around. No need to dump him, now.
  3. Had he been able to convert more points, I would be all in. He was playing with little help in the skill positions, though. With that said, the OL play for him was fairly decent.
  4. One thing is obvious (at least at this stage), the Bills QB situation isn't quite the dumpster fire it was made out to be during the workouts and training camp.
  5. Tryod played well. EJ did OK, too. I'd like to see more from each (and Cassell to be honest). Too early to tell, for me. But right now, I have no problem with Tyrod getting the starting nod. Better have someone prepared, though, if he gets injured. At this point, I think they have to keep all three. Simms is a non-factor. If they trade one of these guys, then they go with two QBs, IMO.
  6. I understand what has been decided in the past. I just disagree.
  7. Not sure I understand the comment. But when one party makes money from another, there is typically a tax involved. Why does having this same procedure with all religions discriminate against any one of them? I know some of you are against all taxes (but still like to drive on roads, have police protection, the military, etc) but c'mon. Taxes are a part of any 1st world modern society.
  8. I know. Just screwing around before kickoff.
  9. I'll wait until you have parents with dementia/Alzheimer's and/or a member of the family who has a mental disability. And I pity you if you think "that is what life is all about". I will just say one thing, and hope this doesn't bring the thread to PPP. How does treating religions like any other business, and taxing them accordingly, violate the First Amendment? There would be fewer decisions to make about what is a "legit" religion and there would be freedom for every one of them. But like any business, they have to pay their taxes---NO DISCRIMINATION. If they are a non-profit, then treat them like any other non-profit. Want to give all religions a special tax rate? Fine. But doesn't offering only recognized religions tax-exempt status make them MORE involved with gov't regulation? I understand we give a religious exemption to almost anyone who applies, but some decisions are being made. Taxing all religions equally is more step with the 1st Amendment, IMO.
  10. Surprise? This thread is posted after only one preseason game, when we basically still know very little. Let them play a little. Disappointed? Kirby started the thread. He knows too much about football to get to revved up, or down, on any player, just yet. Just playin' a bit, Kirby. But some guys need a game experience to shine and some really look good in workouts.
  11. You wouldn't have made it in Niagara Falls, back when I was growing up. "You don't see nothin'. You don't know nothin'. You didn't hear nothin'. Keep your @#%& mouth shut!"
  12. I thought the prelims were particularly good this year (maybe that's because they didn't bother with the real crappy acts, this year). Second round was not quite as good. But I think there are 3-4 decent comics there. And 2-3 who will make good comic actors (mostly on lame sitcoms, I fear) but aren't great stand-ups.
  13. Great stuff, as always. Deadspin is as good as Bleacher Report is bad.
  14. Very nice, Doc. I was hoping someone would notice.
  15. Well, clearly SOME of the data is real. There are legit questions about the extent of the leak. But for many of these people, if only the names were compromised, that's a big enough leak to do a lot of damage in their lives. http://krebsonsecurity.com/2015/08/was-the-ashley-madison-database-leaked/
  16. Oliver St, North Tonawanda could be the real hotspot. (It's been awhile, does Oliver Street still have an abundance of good bars?)
  17. I think you misunderstood my post. I was simply providing pointed social commentary on the sad state of the public's attention span, vis-a-vis the sound-bite. "shiny thing" focus of today's sports media. Or something like that.
  18. I'm still not sure why Easley rarely gets a chance to show his stuff at WR during preseason. But I agree, he is just too valuable otherwise. I don't agree as strongly with Thigpen, because I don't like him much as a WR and I think we have other guys who can fill the PR role---but you are likely right, he gets kept. Hogan's a tough one for me. Didn't the guy would ever make the team in the beginning. But he always seemed to come through. More recently, though, he's been dropping too many passes. A guy like that needs to catch everything to be valuable to the team, IMO.
  19. Sure, you say that now. But one little Proton Energy Pill and all hell breaks loose.
  20. We get back to the point where violence is considered an acceptable reaction to a non-violent situation. It simply isn't. With a man, woman or child, IMO. We are just not beginning to see it should not be used against women (hey, it's a start). And there is some swell of support against using it against our children (though some seem to think "spare the rod, spoil the child" is still an acceptable view). I think a man hitting another man, when there is no violent precursor, is also wrong and something we should be vigilant against.
  21. And, yes, Rice should be able to provide for his family, and I have no problem getting a second chance in the NFL. I just hope the Bills are the team to have to give him one. Also, he should have already made enough money to "provide for his family" for several lifetimes and a very large family.
  22. I hear ya, Doc. It seems some fans actually WANT a team full of thugs. As if being a thug somehow makes one a better football player. And seq, you make a very good point. But you know we can only focus on the latest incidents. Don't ask people to actually remember stuff that happened years ago. If it isn't on TV/Internet/Radio Talk shows, it is totally out of consciousness. And unless it's the latest stuff, well, those media outlets don't often bring it up. (Follow-up? What's that?) Fortunately McCoy looks to be good to go for the season (as do Fred and Williams Karlos Williams). Otherwise it would be interesting to see how Rex would back down from his previous pronouncements that the Bills would NOT sign Rice.
  23. Should that post be in the "sock thread"?
  24. Or miss one, out of eight, throws or don't become an instant success (while working with a poor offensive line and incompetent coaching) and you will be dubbed a bust/bum for life!
