  1. If Rex has to veto Roman as to who starts at QB, I predict the Bill will be in big trouble this year. This. I'd like to assume, at the end of the day, there is a general feeling. Perhaps they have some small difference of opinion on specifics. Rex makes the call officially, of course, as he is the HC. But he would be a fool to not go along with Roman. Rex brings nothing to the table on the offensive side. When he starts getting involved here, the Bills might as well fold up the tent. Also, don't forget Whaley. He could cut the QB one wants to start---no? Now I know that won't happen (I certainly hope not) but if we are looking for stuff to worry about that isn't likely to happen, might as well fret about this. Whaley has control of the roster. Well, if you are a stupid fan, or an ignorant reporter, or have no ability to think beyond two possibilities, then yes, that is the case. Of course, there are other reasons that could end in the same result.
  2. Every show has new material.
  3. That reminds me, I owe The Sen a call.
  4. I don't think he was a dead man walking last season---he shot himself. Admittedly the GM did him no favors. But if really was the GM, why did Rex try so hard to keep that job? He was THE hottest HC prospect in the offseason. Why would someone want to keep a job if they feel they are being undermined by their boss, when they have many other options? I'm sorry, I just can't believe their fate was all on the GM. As hard as we are on Marrone and Hackett (with reason) I think they did a better job of coaching than Rex did to get that team to 8-8. Basically the same circumstances, no? No doubt. I'm not going to go crazy with optimism based on a couple preseason games. But the Bills QBs are a total train wreck as many have proclaimed--and continue to, it seems.
  5. Look here, GOD is making sure Jordy Nelson gets injured---right on schedule. Who are we to doubt? http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/08/24/glover-quin-dont-blame-the-preseason-god-meant-for-jordy-nelson-to-get-hurt/
  6. My point is, I know Rex is a legitimate NFL DC. But I'm not sure Rex is a legitimate NFL head coach. I really, really, really hope I'm wrong.
  7. For some reason this reminded me of a story: A bereaved woman goes into a funeral home to make arrangements for her husband's funeral. She tells the director that she wants her husband to be buried in a dark blue suit. He asks, "Wouldn't it just be easier to bury him in the black suit that he's wearing?" "No," she insists. "It must be a blue suit." She then gives him a blank check to buy one. When she comes back for the wake, she sees her husband in the coffin and he is wearing a beautiful blue suit. She tells the director, "That is absolutely perfect! I love it! How much did it cost?" He says, "Actually, it didn't cost anything. The funniest thing happened. As soon as you left, another corpse was brought in, this one wearing a blue suit. I noticed that they were about the same size, and asked the other widow if she would mind if her husband were buried in a black suit. She said that was fine with her. So, I switched the heads."
  8. While I don't necessarily agree with the guy's conclusion about the Bills chances to make the post season, I get his point. The Bills are a press favorite because of Rex's personality. As a head coach, and especially with a team with a poor offense, Rex is a bust. IMO, he did the worst coaching job in the NFL last year, and was close to the bottom the year before. But we also have Roman, which really hasn't been a focus of the hype, but should figure in to anyone giving honest predictions of the Bills' chances this year. I'm just hoping Rex learns from his mistakes in NY and improves in his second go-round. Others have done it. I have to root for him, as he is the HC of my favorite team. But let's face it, as a head coach the guy's reputation far exceeds his success-to-date.
  9. That's my point. If tweets have any value at all for stuff like this, it is for quick reporting on stuff that is going on in real time, no? How is Twitter a good way to dole out an overview of the team, in 140 character bites?
  10. I just noticed this thread. Congrats to your girlfriend! This really can be a sensational community. And I notice you keep calling her "an ace". Does that make you a pain in the ace? I kill me.
  11. My question remains, did he decide that based on observations TODAY at camp? It doesn't sound like there are observations at all, just opinions he could have posted w/o being at Bills' camp. Now I haven't read through them all, so maybe he has a legit observation thrown in. Also, who would be following a guy tweeting from Bills training camp, who other than rabid Bills fans? I know some others probably are, but I don't understand it at all.
  12. But I couldn't understand any of it. Weren't there two sides? Weren't all the guys recruited in the begging playing for the same team against that one guy? Why were some of them killing each other? I know it is stupid of me to attempt to make any logical sense of something simply meant to titillate the senses---but that's how I roll.
  13. Just wondering, has this guy actually posted any real observations from camp? Perhaps he is just sitting at home, or in a bar somewhere, tweeting away.
  14. Has he observed a change in ownership? A new head coach, perhaps?
  15. Not 2.0, just an original. That is why, if it breaks, I won't replace it. But this one has worked like a champ. I expect it to go any day and have thought it was finished a couple times. But it just keeps going. And, like you, I'm not a real coffee snob. I know people who roast their own beans--nice, but c'mon. I don't have time for that. I also don't drink that much coffee. Many (if not most) real coffee snobs turn their nose up at Sumatran coffee, as it has a funk to it they call "objectionable". And you are right about Starbucks, too. I almost never go to a Starbucks (maybe in airports, or on the road when it's the only place available) but it isn't as if their coffee is terrible. Their existence has raised the general level of coffee in the country, I think. They've also help create a market for crap like Seattle's Best, I think. Yes, you need a coarser grind for a French press. You will still have some sediment, but there should be no actual grounds. If you prefer a cleaner cup of coffee, look into an Aeropress.
  16. Aren't there supposed to be "observations" from practice, and not simple regurgitating facts already known by anyone interested in the Bills?
  17. Yes, with the ekobrew, the extraction is pretty good, if you get the grind right. It is almost as murky and oily as a French press---almost. Actually, the store was out of the Peet's Sumatran whole been the last time, so I bought it ground. And their grind is absolutely perfect. That tells me I gotta get a better grinder. But you can't expect to get the same level of extraction as a French press, with any drip maker. I only used the Melita Jig-Jag when I needed a completely clean cup of coffee. Typically I used that for making a medium bodied coffee for others, or a "special" coffee for myself (Irish creme and bourbon, typically).
  18. Really horrible. But we apparently have no need for detailed observations.
  19. What timing. I'm heading that way, now.
  20. Originally bought the Keurig for my mother, who's dementia was getting worse by the day. It was easier for her, and at least I got to drink acceptable coffee instead of Folgers or other mass produced crap. Now that she is in assisted living, the machine is mine. Sure I keep a few K-cups around (Green Mountain Sumatran is decent). but mostly I buy beans and grind them. I use refillable cups now. Works out pretty good, actually. The ekobrew is nice and it holds more coffee than the standard K-cup. If you like a cleaner cup of coffee without oils and such, Melitta makes a pretty nice unit with filters. Unfortunately they break fairly easily. When the Keurig breaks, it's back to the French Press for me.
  21. On this, we agree 100%. Then again, who among us can deny some level of hypocrisy, at least in some matters. I'm not sure how HE can possibly keep track of this petty stuff when HE has football games, baseball games, soccer matches, etc, to decide. Love Mr Robot
  22. I don't have time now to Google, but I am aware some believe taxation, of any sort, is against God's will. Any money given should be so willingly- or tithed to a church, but not a gov't. Also, my guess is anarchists aren't real bit on taxes of any sort, since they don't recognize the authority of any gov't to collect them.
  23. Indeed. I don't know what cam over me.
