  1. I have to agree with Ramius on this one. 20+ years ago one could not find a entry level job (manufacturing engineering) to save your life in WNY. I had more offers than one could shake a stick at from down south. Moved to Texas to work for TI at the same pay that my father was making at the same time!! Progression took me to NC and OH, both with great offers and opportunities. I have not heard / seen one major or mid-major manufacturing company move or expand into WNY. Where IN recently landed the new Honda mfg facility. Wasn't it some time ago that someone in the Dallas area (GBID?) was trying to expand his business and wanted to do so in WNY because that's where he grew up and the WNY and NYS authorities practically barfed all over themselves and where MN business authorities provided all kinds of start up assistance and set up all kinds of contacts? One would think that with today's economy that WNY / NYS business authorities would bend over backward for a "native". And how long does one need to plan and build a new bridge? Good grief - that's the poster child for ineptitude right there. Like I tell people, you can take the man out of Buffalo, but you can't take the Buffalo out of the man. It's also the place where time left behind.
  2. Doesn't mention software override directly, but it does address the problem and legislation on-going in OH. If fact, bill has been presented to OH gov for signature. Linky
  3. Each ring is personalized. Manning's name is a sample.
  4. Very much agreed. They had a tasting of a late season chardonnay - a dessert wine / digestif. Out of this world! Wifey and I each bought a bottle. We drink it like it is liquid gold.
  5. I've been hooked on the Andretti Zinfandel and Primativo of late. Suggestion I have is to find a good wine store (or sales person) and get to know them. A Vin 100 store just opened up near me and I have a path beaten down to the place. Suggestion I have it to try different things and note what tastes good. Buy it again if you do. Wifey and I did the Napa area for a 3 day stint last fall. Had a blast!! (Rutherford Hill, Domain Chandon, Stag's Leap, Hess, Havens, Whitehall Lane, Diamond Oaks, C Lede, Frank Family, Rubicon, Andretti)
  6. Absolute classics!! And, let's not forget building a new stadium along the waterfront.
  7. There are two things that I would not want to do to Tiger. One make him mad so that Steve comes over and puts my lights out and the other being Tiger dropping me like a wet bag a bread. Was at the Tavistock event this week and both are B I G!
  8. Man, great input (even the sarcasm was good). I thought this topic would die instantaneously. Fitness center right on site so I can clean up when I get here. For those that do commute do you carry your work clothes each day or take a supply of clothes for the week? Any equipment suggestions (panniers, rack, etc)?
  9. With the last of the snow gone by (knock on wood), I've been thinking about riding a bike to work. My commute by car is 7 miles, one way. Best by bike would be near 12, one way. First time in 20+ yrs of working that I have this opportunity and think I can do it. NOTE: Doing this more for my health than "saving the earth" and all that. Looking for ideas on equipment, tips, how to from the TBD brethren. I've already done the Google bit.
  10. She on quite a number of meds for her thyroid and heart "issues", but she has not given up on us so I am not giving up on her.
  11. Black lab - Tex (she came from Texas, where we once lived). Turns a very "jazzy" 13 at the end of the month. I feel like I have played a very respectful 18 holes with her, had a couple of adult beverages talking over the round, realized that we still have daylight, and are going to squeeze in some extra holes before it gets dark. She still brings a smile to my face every day.
  12. The Jets are mortgaging their near term in spite of the long term. They will be back in cap hell once these signings play out. While I agree that Crumpler or Utecht might have plugged a hole, they probably wanted too much money against the Bills budget. Right now it is a buyers (team) market. The closer it gets to draft time these players will be signing on the dotted line.
  13. I don't drink soda at all. Haven't for 3 years.
  14. And, how can a .bmp file be converted to an acceptable format?
  15. And I can't seem to find my old avatar file. C'ya Earl?!!?
  16. In no particular order: Yuengling Boddington Sam Adams Spanish Peaks
  17. Are the Indians or the Pirates in town? That would help with my decision.
  18. Or, how about when the networks were interviewing the kids from Bluffton University? These kids had just went through this 24 hrs earlier and they are asking about what happened and what kid X was like. Some level of sensibility or dignity would be nice. (Oops, there I go thinking logically again.)
  19. My eyes, my eys! Or, Oh, the humanity!

  21. That's what has frustrated me about the CBJ here in C'bus. Plently of higher end picks and still struggling. Lack of true stopper in between the pipes and deeper D wouldn't hurt.
  22. There are some hotels / inns in the Millersburg, Berlin, Sugarcreek area. They are about 30 miles from the HOF. That's probably where I'll check in.
  23. 2 tickets - Section North 1, Row S, Seats 1 & 2.
  24. I'll admit - Got me
