Entertainers That Died Young
ExiledInIllinois replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Prince was pushing 60 @ 57 years. That ain't "young". IMO "young" is under 39... Even that is pushing. I say 20s. 57? LMAO. Hank Williams... Classic. 29. -
You would think... There would be a way to block them with computers. Lot of spoofing going on. Got into an argument with someone who called my cell. They said I called, I said no, they said my # on their caller Id. LoL... How the heck are they spoofing #s. At least a cell, you can block the #. I agree. Lots of gratuitous stuff consumers are bombarded with today... And they always make bad choices.

Nice three! Non-commercially popular tunes! I guess I am partial to haunting ballads... Those don't win the public over. Public wants "happy" or at least that's what the Execs say. Hmmmm??? -
They stand @ intersection with a boot and beg for money. Because their departments aren't getting enough. The police should write them a ticket for standing in traffic. Professional beggars. Same with the professional charities that beg on the phone for the widows and orphans... We must not be paying them well enough?
-
I leave 10 bucks a day for maids. It's back breaking work. I value their work. I am not a pig in the room... It doesn't get left a mess. @LeviF91 nailed in his post above. I don't tip for my service. I tip to gracious and thankful that someone is helping. It's about them, not me. I know I am an oddball. So be it. I don't even understand why it's necessary the begging culture... People simply aren't paid enough or we aren't taxes for our services enough if public entities have to beg for extra money, widows and orphans, etc... etc... Charity sometimes creates more problems, inequity: https://www.wired.com/story/mackenzie-bezos-tech-philanthropy-pitfalls/amp This article can be applied to the culture of tipping, begging for extra. The fact is, these people are underpaid for their services.

I think: "Waiting on a Friend", "Point Blank", & "Patience"... Are some of the best. Not those commercial success. I think it's almost 100%. -
Hear that lonesome whippoorwill He sounds too blue to fly That means he's lost the will to live I'm so lonesome I could cry Did you ever see a night so slow As time goes draggin' by The moon just went behind the clouds To hide its face and cry The silence of a falling star Lights up a purple sky And as I wonder where you are I'm so lonesome I could cry I'm so lonesome I could cry I'm so lonesome I could cry

While they are panhandling as a public safety menace on the street? Just raise my taxes please = just raise the wages of restaurant workers so we can avoid beggars. Begging culture.

Another shocker: "Hotel Cali" in top 5. Makes me almost want to look like this guy: (If you don't know the story behind Costello's look. Look it up. FWIW, I personally don't mind Eagles... BUT "Hotel California" is way over-played, overrated! And Elvis knew it 40 years ago!) -

Let me guess who won? LZ "Stairway to Heaven." Gee that's a shock... Been winning the last 35 years. /smh Oh... Wait. Freebird #2. That's like the Bills being second in League 40 years running. -
+1. Don't forget the bridge is going up at same time. So if it's a draw bridge, double leaf, the landing is important since other leaf is going up. Bit easier with a single leaf bascule type bridge. Forget about it totally if it's a lift or turntable. That's just dumb and dumber for even trying! LoL...
-
Even worse... Firefighters, police panhandling @ the intersection. That's the absolute lowest of the low.
-
Then pay them a living base wage. I don't tip for service. I tip because they are getting a base wage too low. They can serve dooky on a stick and I will tip. They are producing way more then the worst server can produce and getting a wage that is inadequate. Americans need to get over themselves, getting waited on hand and foot... It's not $$$ for service... It's their time for $$$.
-
LoL... That would make Baby Jesus cry!
-
Yeah... But they pay a living wage? Sorry. As @LeviF91 has eloquently stated. You suck @ life. LoL... ? Wouldn't agree they suck at life in China and commie parts of the world?
-
In all honesty. I calculate 20-25% in even before going out. If I can't afford it, I don't stuff my fat Bougie face and consume. Just don't go out. LoL... /i_am_NOT_a_damn_communist_contrary_to_what @Joe in Winslow says LoL...
-
Why I am going to the poor house. I feel sorry for service workers. Even if they give sucky service. It's the bougie bastards (myself??) that should be grateful for anything they get: "...Tra la la la la bombardier, this is the pilot speaking I've got some news for you It seems my ship still stands no matter what you drop And there ain't a whole lot that you can do Oh sure the banner may be torn and the wind's gotten colder Perhaps I've grown a little cynical But I know no matter what the waitress brings I shall drink it and always be full, yeah I will drink it and always be full..." That's for you too Mr.Cynical. ^^^^ The lyrics.
-
That's what I do. 10% of bill, double it and add the cents. Off of everything, tax included. I always include tax, etc... When calculating tip. Usually from 20-25%. 10-15% on take out 2 bucks or so on stuff under $10.

Cheapskate! The cheapskates are coming out of the woodwork for this thread. Too... The BatPole, I think that guy @Gugny needs my attention in this thread!
