We did. We are also fortunate that the game was against the Dolphins who had given up. They also played a QB who (admit it) nearly all of us had not heard of before this past week and yet the Dolphins and this unknown QB had 349 yards of offense against our defense. I am happy that we are in the playoffs, but let's be a little realistic about this. Obviously. I wish he were though . . . especially this week.

Obviously (to quote Doug Marrone), a healthy McCoy is much better, but the operative word is healthy. It would be nice to have a great back up in case Shady is not healthy or cannot go the whole game.

I am not going to address your post line by line, but I sure wish we had Gillislee right now.

Dougie and Dareus, Who Gets The Last Laugh?
Peter replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It would be awful to lose to St. Doug. I cannot stand that guy. As for Dareus, I was against trading him - especially for the used bag of footballs that we got for him. I hope that trade does not bite us in this game. -
The last time the Bills were in the playoffs...
Peter replied to DC Tom's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The last time the Bills were in the playoffs, the Bills won the game but were screwed over by the officials. My two kids were not born. Although I have not had a lot of luck with my sports teams, I am the luckiest guy in the world being the father of my two sons. -
Although that is positive, I have to believe that, even if Shady ends up playing, it will be very difficult to play up to his level - especially given that his strengths are his ability to cut and quick bursts. I would love it if he proves me wrong.

I felt that same way about the Andy Dalton play as all those guys in the locker room (including McCoach) who were jumping up and down with glee when the play happened - as well as the thousands who liked or re-tweeted the following tweet: Cincinnati BengalsVerified account @Bengals FollowFollow @Bengals More For all the @buffalobills fans in our mentions: Happy New Year #Bengals50 8:01 PM - 31 Dec 2017 7,525 Retweets 21,721 Likes 1,157 replies7,525 retweets21,721 likes Reply 1.2K Retweet 7.5K Like 22K Direct message https://twitter.com/Bengals/status/947633898678300673 They and we had no control over the slender thread of a chance of converting that play, but we are all extremely grateful. My views of Rex do not influence my views of McDermott although I do point out examples where there appear to be a double standard (e.g., defense ranked better last year than this year 19th v 26th, run defense ranked 29th this year and last year, 15 defenders on the field at the same time, penalty differential, etc.). I reserve the right to do so. It is true that I am not McCoach's biggest fan, but I also am not a hater or have I ever said that he should be fired in less than two years. I have not agreed with some of the moves that he and Beane have made or the use of the cliche "process" etc. That's life. In the end, however, we are in the playoffs. We were in the position to be lucky, take advantage of one of the unlikeliest of plays in another game (4th and 12, 49 yard TD pass with 44 seconds left to play), and make the playoffs in large part because of the work that McDermott and others have done. Well done. Let's see where we go from here. Go Bills! Just my two cents.

I am not a hater of McCoach. I am just not a lover. As someone whose family has had season tickets since the Bills' inception and who has put his money where his mouth is and continued those season tickets through these non playoff years even though I live down here in Miami, I am hardly a Judas. Nice try though. I would say something much stronger to you, but you know not what you do.
-
I think you have basically captured it. While I appreciate the fact that McCoach and our team are in the playoffs, I trust that the process continues and he is not a finished product because the odds were certainly against us making the playoffs by Andy Dalton converting a 4th and 12 for a TD against the Ravens in Baltimore.

It is pretty cool that Hauschka actually thought to video this historic moment. It is also pretty cool that the Bills found out they made the playoffs while at Hard Rock Stadium (given our history with the Dolphins).
-
Very cool.

Good post.

And if that relative had been responsible for 15 defenders on the field, this site would have imploded.

A buddy just told me that all Southwest flights to Jacksonville are sold our for next weekend's game. That is pretty cool.

You are right. Mario was outstanding. He was about as effective as Ozil was today. Actually, I take that back, Ozil was better today. If you do not think that our injuries to our best players did not effect us in 2015 or 2016, that says more about you than Rex.
-
We certainly were that. Andy Dalton had the most important play for the Buffalo Bills since the turn of the century. Well done Andy. I am glad that we finally had some good luck as I have posted before (paraphrasing the Cream song).
-
In 2015, our starting left defensive end was on strike the entire year and decided to play patty cake rather than football. Wasn't Kyle Williams injured for a good portion of that year as well. Didn't Watkins miss three games? Didn't TT miss two games? Didn't Shady miss four games? Didn't Charles Clay miss three games? Didn't Aaron Williams miss 13 games? I am sure I am missing some, but you get the point.

Not the guys that actually were healthy to play or were not suspended. Yes, I think he was getting the Atlanta job but for the owner's wife dying as I recall which delayed them and allowed the Bills to move in and hire him.
-
Again, you have to look at it in context. He had the best record of any Buffalo Bills HC since Wade. He coached in the same division as the Pats. I respect the fact that, when he had the opportunity to go to another division (Atlanta), he did not shy away from taking the Bills job and competing against Belichick and Brady. It also did not help that we had more than an Arsenal share of injuries last year and there were strategic leaks undermining him last year.
-
As I said before, I am not a hater. He did get lucky though. There is something to be said for that. On the one hand, McCoach should send Christmas cards to Andy Dalton for the rest of his life. On the other hand, I am happy that us Buffalo fans have some luck, because, as I have said before: If Buffalo didn't have bad luck, we would not have any luck at all. (To paraphrase Cream's "Born under a Bad Sign") I am glad that we have some good luck because we certainly have had more than our fair share of bad luck.
-
Stop it. You are smarter than that. Your bias is at least consistent. You have to look at games in context. It is all relative.
-
You are absolutely right. I loved the way McCoach converted that 4th down pass to beat the Ravens to get in the playoffs. It is all part of the process.
-
I guess I am insane then. How could I possibly defend 15 defenders on the field . . . oh, oops, never mind.
-
I am not going to belabor this, but this is yet another example of your bias. Last week, I compared the penalty differential between this year and last year. Guess which year we had the better differential. I will give you three guesses and the first two do not count. I cannot say 100% we would have won, but I can say 100% that we would have had a much, much better chance. I also can say 100% that we lost that game with Peterman because he was not ready and our HC should have known that.

McCoach is very, very fortunate that awful decision did not end up costing us the playoffs. Again, we must have the luck of the Irish because he certainly got very lucky.
