Willis talks a little birthday smack
Peter replied to granitestatebillsbackers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The guy is a stud RB. I have no problem with his confidence. A couple of revealing examples of his character: 1. The way he came back from the devastating knee injury; 2. He gave his first TD ball to Shelton; 3. He did not B word and moan when MM tried to divert blame away from JP and on to him; 4. He does not B word and moan when the line is not opening up holes for him; 5. He seems to go out of his way to credit other players like the o-line (even when they do not necessarily deserve it); 6. Some people criticized his TD celebration last week. Yet, his typical celebration has been to share the celebration with the fans by jumping into the end zone seats. The guy is just the kind of RB that this team needs. Whether he is the best, I cannot say. Nevertheless, he has the rare combination of size, strength, and running ability that few backs in the NFL have or ever have had. -
Newsflash: Buffalo and Miami have different weather. As I sit here in Miami preparing for yet another hurricane (Wilma!!! - Yubba dubba do), my sister (in Buffalo) keeps on reminding me that she would take snow any day. So would I. Miami and Buffalo are also very differenct cities. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. I grew up in Buffalo and my family is still in Buffalo. I still go there frequently throughout the year. Buffalo is a great city with great people who have nothing to apologize for. Miami is flash and sizzle. Buffalo is the steak. There are a lot of things that I like about Miami, but I still consider myself a Buffalonian at heart. As for Roscoe, I doubt that he was intentionally putting down Buffalo. Most players seem to enjoy playing in Buffalo. He is a young kid, away from his family and friends for the first time, and concentrating on just getting on the field. He is a good guy, and we are going to enjoy watching him play for the Bills.

. . . now. The guy is one of our most valuable players. I really hope that TD can lock him up before we are no longer able to afford him.

Losman showed that he was not ready. There is no reason at this point to sit Holcomb. We are winning and tied for first in the division. Let's not give up on this season (while we are still in it) just so one player can get reps for future seasons.

Who knocked the Jets player on his ass
Peter replied to Thailog80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Was it Teague? For some reason, I thought that it may have been Chris V. I will have to take another look. -
For those of you who missed it, the Bills website has the video of the interview on its multimedia. TD did in fact say that JP might still be in the starting lineup if the defense and the wide outs played better. TD certainly has a different way of looking at things.

Boomer Essiason thinks the Jets are a
Peter replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is why they will play the game on Sunday. It really does not matter what Boomer or anyone else thinks (positive or negative). We will find out on Sunday. -
There is nothing to think about. Get the Center Ice package. It is well worth the money. Going to one game would cost about the same (two tickets, parking, concessions). If you no longer live in Buffalo and you are a Sabres fan, go for it.

Bill Polian never should have been let go. Period. For what it is worth, Polian and Ralph must have patched some of their differences up. Polian has been back to Buffalo for Bills events. I don't know whether Ralph would ever hire him back, but Bill Polian does not appear to be persona non grata like Lou Saban and some others.

There has been more than one soft goal, but he has played pretty well. He has to cut down on some of the rebounds. Last night was perhaps his best game. He stoned the Lightning on both penalty shots. He was one of the key players in last night's game.

I think that he was a later round draft pick a few years ago. I think that he was born in North Dakota. He played in Rochester last year and beat out Roy for a roster spot in preseason. Don't feel bad, he was not on a lot of people's radar. So far, he has played very well.

I did not see the interview, but it sounds like classic TD.

Great game. The NHL is a lot of fun to watch -- especially the Sabres. This team is built for speed and the new rules. I was glad to see that the refs are not letting things go late in the game and in overtime. I have to give Darcy a lot of credit. I had serious doubts. Yet, through the first part of the season, the Sabres are as exciting to watch as any team in the NHL and as exciting to watch as any Sabres team in a long time. Now, if we can score on the power play . . . .

You are correct sir.

Check out Bills Vision on BuffaloBills.com and check out who was running routes and catching footballs.

For what it is worth, as I was driving past the University of Miami this morning on my way to work, I saw one of the Hurricane players wearing a Roscoe Parrish Buffalo Bills jersey as he was crossing the street. Perhaps it is a sign that Roscoe is going to play . . . or perhaps he just likes the Bills.

Nick In England - have a favor to ask
Peter replied to brihs2005's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I will be going to the Netherlands at the end of November. If any of you want, I can try to pick some up there. I think that they are available there. -
It was a great game. The new rules were just what hockey needed. There is much more flow and fewer stoppages. Moreover, the new rules are great for the skill players. It would have been interesting to see these rules with the French Connection in their day -- or even when LaFontaine and Mogilny were playing with the Sabres. I also think that they would have benefitted the Sabres during the No Goal series (which should have gone to game 7 anyway). If you have not watched the Sabres yet, you should check them out. This team is built for speed and they are using it. Except for the Sens game, they have looked very good. I am probably in the minority regarding Miller, but I think that he has let in at least one pretty soft goal in each game. He needs to tighten things up and not give up as many rebounds. Having said that, he has shown that he can be an NHL goaltender. It will be interesting to see how long they ride him and how Marty plays once they put him between the pipes. Anyway, check out the Sabres if you have not already. Also, as someone else posted, you should get the Center Ice package. It is a must for hockey fans -- especially Sabres fans who do not live in Buffalo anymore. In the grand scheme of things, it is not that expensive considering you would pay about as much to attend one game including two tickets, parking, concessions etc.

That was bizarre. I wonder how they came up with that.

I saw that as well. Thierry Henry (the player who was interviewed) is one of the best in the world. He plays for Arsenal. I also thought that he was very well spoken on the show. -
For what it is worth, Cefalo is now the play-by-play guy for the Dolphins and is the sports anchor for the local ABC affiliate. He is no Murphy and certainly no Van Miller.
