I could see Seattle, Atlanta, the Giants, or the Jets. Oakland would be a disaster given their offensive line woes last year.

Perhaps the point is that Modrak is the wrong guy to go (if, in fact, someone is leaving).

A first and a third is way too much. If the Bills do this, AJ Smith should get the Executive of the Year Award. The guy "may" be great, but the Chargers have very little leverage regarding a guy who is going to sit on their bench for the year.

The funny thing is that he was on Sirius NFL Radio this morning and only mentioned the Ravens and Jaguars when asked which teams he was visiting (in the portion of the interview that I heard).

Jon Beason is a football player. He has a knack for the ball. I think that he will have a successful NFL career and would be a very good pick up for the Bills. I do think, however, that 12 would be too early to pick him. If we are targeting him, I would prefer that we trade down or pick up another first round pick later in the round to get him.

Very true. He is the same guy who (just before the first game of the season) said that he wanted to win the game for the city of Buffalo and the fans. He is the same guy who said that he thanked God to be in Buffalo. He is the same guy who actually bought a house in Orchard Park. He is the same guy who came back from a severe rib injury after just a couple of weeks. He is also the same guy who had his agent try to extend his contract so that he could stay in Buffalo. It was the Bills who did not want to do this. In the end, the contract he signed with the Ravens was very reasonable for RBs under the present cap. I live in Miami. There is more to do for a young guy (especially a rich young guy) in Miami and South Beach. Have any of you guys ever been to South Beach?!? Before I was married, I had many a good time there. As someone else said, every time I ever heard one of his teammates interviewed about him, they spoke of him favorably. I particularly remember a Lee Evans interview on BB.com after McGahee came back from his rib injury. Someone posted recently that he was never ripped around here. In fact, he was ripped constantly. The Bills also spread rumors in the press that he did not know the plays. I am sure that I am going to be ripped for this post. So be it. I like McGahee and thought that he could have been part of the solution. I am sure that he is going to be very productive running behind a better offensive line in Baltimore -- I just wish we had the opportunity to see him run behind the Bills' upgraded line. As I said before, although I like McGahee and Miami, I love Buffalo and the Bills. The most important thing is that we find someone that can run with the rock. JP had the luxury of facing 8 men fronts because of the respect that opposing defenses had for McGahee. We better have a running game that is going to garner the same amount of respect for JP's sake. As a side note, it is interesting that it was the Ravens who targeted McGahee and gave him the new contract. I remember how McGahee was ripped on this board after that game. The Ravens obviously respected his talent. They not only played much of the game with only 3 defenses backs, they also went out of their way to acquire him. Apparently, their view of McGahee is different from those that ripped him here. In any event, I hope that the Bills fill the holes at RB, LB, and CB. Just my two cents. Go Bills!!!

As with others, Nall's weight suprised me as well. It may be that he is trying to hedge his bets and play linebacker as well.

I really, really hope that Marv does not overpay for Turner.

So far, he is absolutely correct. The key is "so far." We shall see what happens with the remainder of free agency and the draft. Yet, if you have to evaluate it at this moment of time, we are not as good a football team as we were last season. We have some holes to fill. Let's see what happens.

Do any of you guys watch this show? I think that it is one of the best new shows on television. It may be tough to get into it now in the middle/end of the season. If you have not checked it out, I would definitely recommend it when/if they show the reruns.

This thing better be something really, really special. I have been to a pretty big Bass Pro Shop in Ft. Lauderdale. It is a fine store, but living in Miami, I have never taken the trouble to drive to Ft. Lauderdale just to go to Bass Pro Shop. I have only stopped by there if I am already in the neighborhood. I hope that I am wrong, but I just do not see it being a huge tourist draw -- at least not of the type that would justify the amount of public money that is going into it.

JP is going to have a lot of pressure. The best thing the Bills can do is get someone who can run with the rock to try to relieve that pressure. For the past couple of years, JP has had the benefit of 8 men in the box to defend against our run game. If other teams are not going to respect our run game, I feel sorry for JP. That is not to say that the Bills should automatically choose an RB in the first round if Peterson is not available at 12. If Peterson is not available at 12, I presume the Bills would take someone like Willis. I just hope that they get a good RB later in the draft. I was hoping the Bills would take Okoye at 12. With the Walker trade, I presume he is not in our plans now.

That is a very important point. I did not know that was not included in the deal. When this issue came up when the collectively bargaining agreement was approved, I considered that to be the most important issue. Ralph is not going to live forever. It is likely that, if an out-of-area guy purchases the Bills, he would look for an excuse to move the team. Keeping the Bills in Buffalo is more important than whether a outdoor chain store opens at the Aud or what other people say about Buffalo. The Bills presence has a significant impact on the area as well as every person on this board.

It is funny how some of you guys judge the quality of the night life (and a city) simply by how late the bars close.

I agree with you. I also believe that we have to ask ourselves: what is worse: 1. The people who take shots at Buffalo (media, players etc.); or 2. Those of us (myself included and many on this board) who left Buffalo to live/work elsewhere. I have to believe that the exodus hurts Buffalo and Western New York a lot more than the inane comments of others. Again, I include myself in this. I love Buffalo. I grew up there. Most of my family is still there. Yet, most of my friends growing up and I live elsewhere. I left for economic reasons (as most did). I live in Miami. I like Miami, but I love Buffalo. I wish that I had my job in Buffalo. It is fun when you go to a Sabres or Bills game and there are a lot of Buffalo fans there. Yet, it is a bit sad to think that many of those fans left (or had to leave) Buffalo. Think what Buffalo would be like if all of us who left had the same type of jobs back in Buffalo.

In my view, the problem with the run defense was the guys up front.

Unfortunately, I expect to be disappointed with the compensation. I have a feeling this is going to be a late round pick just to take his salary off our books. We shall see what the Bills do with the money that they are going to save.
