  1. Owners are responsible. This would be true whether it was the individual homeowner or the bank that becomes the owner after foreclosure. I had a situation down here with a former client who never finished building a building (lack of funds). After the property sat and became a dumping ground, the city condemned the property. The client then got a notice stating that it had the choice of clearing the property itself or having to pay for the city's demolition of the existing structure. Again, owners are responsble. It should not make any difference whether the owner is bank that became the owner after foreclosure.
  2. What eball said. It actually was pretty humorous that it was traditional radio bitching and moaning about the merger and, at the same time, claiming that the market for antitrust purposes did not include them. This is great news.
  3. From a strictly paleo conservative view of this, we are not getting a sufficient return on our investment. I would have preferred keeping the focus on OBL, spending the $5B per year that we had been on the Iraq no fly zone, and saving the rest to keep the tax cuts in place. Unfortunately, now that we opened up Pandora's box, we have no choice but to try to create some stability in Iraq. W's decision to invade Iraq and the ensuing mismanagement of the war has created a real Hobson's choice.
  4. The last time that I heard (last night), the State Department would only say that the people who did this were contract employees and would not release their identities. This may get interesting depending on who these people are and what their connections may be. Right now, the State Department is characterizing this as "imprudent curiosity."
  5. That site used to be a great resource. I wonder what happened.
  6. Oklahoma had their pro day. Kelly was there but did not participate. I believe that he is scheduled to have his own pro day on April 8th or 9th.
  7. He is hitting .500 on that one.
  8. As far as I am concerned, this is Youboty's make or break year. He has not shown me too much up to this point. He gets a pass for his rookie year given what happened to his mother. Last year, however, was a year for him to at least begin to show us that he can be a productive and reliable player. My recollection is that he got beat a lot when he was in the game. He looked fairly awkward and lost out there at times. I really hope that he is taking this off season seriously and goes into the OTA's, mini-camps, training camp, and the regular season ready to show us why we drafted him. If he comes to play, he could be a real asset to the team.
  9. If he does, that really would be noteworthy.
  10. That would be impossible.
  11. If only W were more like his father vis a vis Iraq. GHWB and his administration responded to an actual invasion, built a real coalition, and worked it so that we were only responsible for 10% of the cost. Moreover, GHWB and Brent Scowcroft knew when to get the hell out and not get involved with the chaos that we have seen here. By contrast, W has shown that he is no GHWB. W has been an unmitigated disaster. Even one of the few good things he has done (lowering taxes) will probably be reversed as a result of the consequences of his other policies.
  12. I would still rather have McCain answer that phone at 3:00 a.m.
  13. RIP I loved that show.
  14. I saw him last night and was very impressed with his passion. He is a player that really cares. There is no way that anyone could have faked that kind of emotion. I would love to have him on the Bills.
  15. He is our bum now. The last time that I checked, the people in Philly thought that Briere is a bum.
  16. If we are going to run him out of town, I would prefer that we draft him in the seventh round or pick him up as an undrafted FA.
  17. I do not recall specifically seeing him play. He could be great for all I know. The question that I have is he worth the 11th pick in the draft?
  18. I just began "Legacy of Ashes" about the CIA. So far, it is pretty good and very interesting.
  19. New Jersey is one of the tri-states.
  20. As far as I know, Obama was not raised in a barber shop or beauty salon. By the way, for what it is worth, I thought it was a very good speech (other than that) as I posted earlier.
  21. According to the new Gov, they were taking a break like Ross and Rachel.
  22. I understand what you are saying. Nevertheless, it does seem somewhat crass and expedient to bring up comments that were supposedly made -- in private -- by the woman who raised him. This is the same woman whom he and his campaign has kept from the media until now.
  23. Oh brother. This again. By the way, Flutie really proved himself at the end of that playoff game against the Dolphins.
