  1. I am not counting on Rob or Rex to cover Brandon Marshall, Decker, or any other receiver. At some point, players have to make plays. In my view, the failure to make plays on those third down conversions had nothing to do with Rob or Rex. Yet, I understand that people who are Rex Haters will blame every missed tackle etc. on Rex and Rob.
  2. Fitz played about as well (if not better) than anytime I have ever seen him play. Hats off to both Fitz and Chan. It will be interesting to see what happens when we play them in NJ.
  3. In this game, our DBs did not make plays (IMO) especially on third down. I also believe that our defense is going to be much better once some of these guys come back.
  4. That is so so true. Things like that change games. Who knows? Those drives exhausted our defense (especially with the O not sustaining any drives) and I got to believe the both Gilmore and Darby perhaps lost a bit of confidence. We could not stop them on third down it seemed.
  5. I will say this: God bless Sullen's family and colleagues if he is like this in his personal life.
  6. That game was so so frustrating. I am going to have to take a closer look but it was painful to watch the Jets convert so many third downs. Ugh. At one point, I blurted out: "Mother F***er!" in front of my wife and kids after one third down conversion during the Jets' second drive. Needless, to say, my wife was not happy with me.
  7. I never would have thought to use the phrase "higher standards" and Sully in the same sentence.
  8. Better than the week before, but it would have been nice to put together some drives and get the plays in on time.
  9. God bless Sully?!? I wish for God's blessings for a lot of people . . . Sully is not among them. The people's writer . . . the people who whinge on sports radio and on this site . . . most of whom (not all) are keyboard jockeys like Sullen who probably never played football.
  10. I believe that not having Cordy or Seantrel in there is really hurting our running game (and offense)
  11. Does anyone know whether Roman's firing has anything to do with Sammy Watkins' sitting out the end of the game? P.S. Perhaps this has been discussed, but I have tried to stay away from this site for a bit for my own sanity.
  12. Didn't something like this happen the year the Ravens won the Superbowl?
  13. My problem with Roman (and maybe the reason the move was made) is that it takes so freaking long for plays to come in (both last year and this year). If Peyton played for us, he would not have any time to say "Omaha Omaha . . . ."
  14. I still support Rex. I am pissed and catatonic about the game, but I still support Rex. As I was watching the Jets offense, I could not help but think about how many people here ran Chan Gailey out of town (or had Fire Chan as their name). Negativity breeds negativity. We have some specialists in negativity here. I need to take a break from here for at least a day or two. I really don't enjoy being around a lynch mob.
  15. Well done Jerry. It was rather revealing how the usual suspects went nuts on Sunday without knowing all of the facts (or ignoring them).
  16. Something tells me that you (and certain others here and in the media) would still be Rex Haters even if Rex cured cancer.
  17. There is a point to be made there. Difficult decision one way or another. Rex has always taken the slings and arrows for his players -- to a fault. He also does not have a practice of throwing guys under the bus -- again to a fault. I presume that the decision was made to not do what you suggest during the season last year because they were hoping to turn the guy around and knew that they would lose him completely if they benched him etc. After the season, they clearly made the (correct) decision that the guy could not be trusted and was not worth the cap hit.
  18. I think he has done a darn good job with what he has had to work with. You guys can choose to ignore the injuries last year or that one guy went on strike. You guys can choose to ignore the fact that he had a GM with the Jets that sought to undermine him. Whatever. I know that there is nothing that Rex can do short of curing cancer in a super bowl year that will placate you and some others. I love how some of you here and in the media seem wistful about St. Doug (or would prefer to have his personality as our HC). Good riddance to him. Continue on with the hate and pushing the Rex in the hot seat narrative (that we all know or should know is completely untrue). Just my two cents.
  19. I agree. Mehta does an excellent job of providing context and perspective. The haters (both those in the media and those who call WGR or post here) are unburdened by any such context or perspective and are beyond ridiculous.
  20. This is 100% correct. The "hot seat" narrative is being pushed by certain members of the media (and certain people here for example). Even Ty Dunne (while at TBN) essentially wrote that Vic was wrong. As an aside, it is odd to read/hear some of the complaints of some of media about things Rex says or does - it is as if they are wistful about St. Doug Marrone and his personality. The people who make the decisions (and anyone who does not have an ax to grind against Rex) realize that head coaches should not get fired merely for not making the playoffs in the second year as HC (if that were to happen). Just my two cents.
  21. Wow. Let's hope he gets a LOT better.
  22. I would love to see what the guy could do for an entire season if he were not injured . . . .
